why do different leaders have different leadership scores?

im kinda new to the game, and im looking at the three heroes, and i noticed that the mage has alot less leadership than the warrior. i was wondering why that is?

the differences that i have seen of the heroes dont seem to me make a big enough difference to have that much lost leadership.

what do yall think?
