SOW was never cancelled in 2007. Oleg announced the project in 2004 for a release in 2005. Ubi announced SOW built on a new game engine in 2006 with a release schedualled for the end of 2007. Exact years I can't remember anymore.
We haven't heard a word since from UBI, but they were involved with all the addons up and including IL-2 1946. Only a skeleton crew worked on SOW from 2004-2007, while most of the crew worked on PF, thru, IL-2 1946. The full crew started work on SOW in 2007.
IF...UBI is no longer in the picture, hopefully the matter is settled, so there won't be lawyers envolved effecting the release of SOW (or whatever name they decide on).
