Default JU88 MajorBoris Help

MajorBoris Thanks for your explaination on flying the JU88 I appreciate it.

In your post you said "Take out the front gun so you can have better visability in the cockpit". I read the COD manual about the turrent keys and the positions you can choose within a bomber, but don't understand how to remove the gun. Are you talking about having the crew member bail out??. Please explain how to take that front gun out cause that would be great.

Also, can anyone explain the compressor operation for the JU88. I've been flying below 1500m and no problems with the engines while bombing Tanker ships. I would assume that the compressor needs some adjustment when you gain altitude. Can someone explain this?

'just' delete the front gun in the first armament screen. Proplem, it works easy in multiplayer, in singleplayer i gave up anytrhing to get it work reliable....

Set the supercharger to 100% (little infobar up), and the superchargershifting is set to automatic shifting between low and high blower

To delete the gun just make the ammo 'empty' and it disappears.

I am trying to figure out what compressor operation you mean (superchargers? or wep?) It may not be modeled yet (there is one in the Br. 20 I think that powers flaps and such at certain times). There is a hand pump that is supposed to operate emergency manual fuel pumping.

I will be on ATAG server at 530pm ish central standard time today if you (all welcome!) want to meet in the ATAG ts3 axies channel I can walk you through what I know so far of the phases of flight to target and back

Thanks for all the quick information, I appreciate it.

I will try removing the gun after I'm done posting here. I guess I should have mentioned that I mostly play single player. Hopefully I don't encounter a head-on attack and regret removing that gun.

The compressor operation I was referring to is the engine supercharger. Like I said I don't have any engine trouble yet, I mostly been flying below 1500m. I just thought I better find out as much as I can about the engines in case I do run into trouble.

I was on the ATAG server once some weeks ago just to see how my connection was. I flew a 109 and encountered a large flight of Wellingtons? crossing the channel. I chewed one up pretty good but could not bring it down, I took some hits and landed ok. Takes some getting used to the full real settings. You all invited me to TS3 so I could talk but I didn't have that equipment at the time.

I have downloaded TS3 Client but now I need a microphone and a new video card and then you will see a lot of me on the ATAG server for sure.

Thanks again for all the help!

Look forward to seeing you on ATAG, its a lot more fun than single player imho and I learn much more from the humans then the ai.

Superchargers can be engaged any time but will operate at 3200m(3500 in the pilots notes), be carefull though, if you engage them before because of the manifold pressure jump at 3200m.

As a side note: Flap operations are similar to the 110 and can be noted from the flap indicator(not the lever) below the airbrake lever(it shares the round dial with air break indicator), you will want have that indicator read .05 when you put the cursor over the instument for take off.....thats 25 degrees deflection outside on the wing.

S!

I forgot about that one and it cost me a bad surprise last night, when reaching 3200m all of a sudden I had an oil leak and other dmages to my engine and rapidly lost all power, didn't understand what happened until I read your post again

10 seconds before I had just monitored my temps, revs and manifold pressure and everything was fine...
