Too many threads to check after the hotfix so please excuse if I post again the question...
Are we now able to 1.) load the bombs on the Bf109 (B) 2.) make them explode? (In the revious patch I could manage point #1 with some tricks and point #2 was possible only in free fall trajectory (releasing bombs in upward flight), thus aiming was impossible). ~S~ |

I'm not really familiar with the issue. I've tried bombing with a 110C-7 and while it's true that it needs a specific profile to be successful it's definitely possible.
What i do is select and arm the bombs and start a shallow dive to the target. I use the low altitude fuse with the dive bombing delay of 14 seconds. The trick is to aim a bit ahead of the target (in case of moving targets) to account for the distance traveled by the target until the delay fuze goes off, plus make sure that the bombs will "dig" into the ground. If you release at a shallow angle the bombs might bounce and skip a long way ahead of the target. If you release at a steeper dive angle they have a better chance of getting buried in the ground at the place you aim. So, i start with a shallow dive (not more than 20 degrees) up until the point that the target disappears below the aircraft's nose. Up to this point it's pretty similar to how it was done in IL2:1946. The difference is that i make my glide at a higher altitude (starting at 1500m, releasing bombs at 1000m or so), because i want to be able to steepen the dive angle at the last moment before release: when the target disappears below the nose of the aircraft i aggressively push the stick forward into a 40-50 degree dive, release the bombs, apply power and level out to escape the target area at low altitude during the bomb fuze delay. This way my bombs drop closer to the vertical, which means that they have a better chance of having the detonator fuze activated and they don't bounce and skip away from the target because they get "buried" in the terrain. Hope it helps ![]() |

Thanks for the tips Blackdog but it is a Bf109 related issue and not a bomb issue (I am afraid).
Because in the previous patches, the 250sc explodes when dropped from a ME110 but not from a Bf109... No idea why. |

Hmm, that's weird for sure
![]() I'll just add it to the list of things to test ![]() |

I have been playing arround with the 109E3B in MP lately,
After the patch it is possible to load bombs on the plane, but I have been unable to make them explode. I have tryied level bombing, shallow angle dive bombing, and 90º divebombing without success. |

Thanks for the update
![]() (remember what Greeks did to the bearer of bad news... ![]() Pity. By the way, if you want to make them explode (for the shake of exploding) there is a 100% sure way: arm the bomb, pull stick up to a steep climb, almost vertical and release the bomb. The bomb will fly upwards for some time, reach the peack of its trajectory and then fall almost verticaly. Bingo! Don't ask me why... |
