Possible computer upgrade

I have a quote for updating my current computer, which is 32 bit XP, 3gb ram, and 1T HD.

I'll have the hard drive partitioned, so that I can keep XP running, too.

Does the below sound like a system that would handle CoD, and other future sims, for awhile?

8gb Corsair DDR3 1600mhz

I am sorry I am lazy to check the specs of your motherboard, does it support SLI? (worthwhile investment for the future)
And the Power Supply, is it in the 800W - 1000W range (also worthwhile)

That should be fine (at least I hope so - I've just ordered a similar setup, though I've gone for an ATI HD 6970 GPU) The SabreTooth MoBo supports SLI/Crossfire. As GRAthos says, youll want at least an 800 W psu if you are going to run dual 570s - 1000 W might be more sensible. I'd make sure you have plenty of cooling, too.

The motherboard does have SLI. I won't know about the power supply requirement until Monday.

I had a feeling I was going overboard, but maybe this will keep me from needing any upgrades for some time to come.

It might be worth thinking about more RAM. From what I can figure out, you need to get it in a matched set for best results, so increasing later means replacing the lot.

But how will you put

The new mobos require THREE banks of the same type (not two like the older ones):
Therefore you can go for 3x1Gb DDR3 = total 3Gb RAM <-NOT RECOMMENDED
or 3x2Gb DDR3 = total 6Gb RAM <- RECOMMENDED
or 3x4Gb DDR3 = total 12Gb RAM <- if the price difference is negligable

Depends on the mobo, there are some around which support triple with 4 slots occupied.

Replace 2600k with 2500k. The performance between them is negligible and HT is useless for gaming.

For the 100$ difference, get a GTX 580 3GB version or HD 6970 with a custom cooler.

one thing i see that was not listed was a power supply..if you are running XP right now i have a feeling your current PSU will not be enough to power the video card you have chosen.
and if your trying to get in at around $1000 just make a post saying "build me a rig for a $1000" trust me you will get alot of choices and a really nice system in the end. my rig (see Sig) cost me right around $500 if i had a $1000 to spend i would have a smoking fast rig

I didn't put it on the list, because I don't know which one I will get, will find out a power tomorrow.
