You misunderstood it. There are always "only" three characters (warrior, paladin, mage). The difference is, that there is one stack of orc troops to defeat, as well as one stack of demons. Besides it is guaranteed that you'll see a cyclops (although there could be one in the first demo in the snake/spider cave.)
