Yes,as everyone else has commented,buying one of these is the way to go,you can't seriously play without one friend,you'll have no peripheral,up or down view without one,which makes 'dogfighting' almost impossible,and you're be woefully disadvantaged.

Re the point about keeping the gunsight aligned with the target,easy,on my Trackir profile,I have a 'pause' button keyed,so that when I'm in range,all I do is deploy this 'pause' button,centre my Trackir,and this gives me a stable 'sight to target'view,try it,it works for me.

If you lose your target deploy 'pause' again and your full Trackir view is resumed,it just takes a bit of practice to get it right.
