Starting with a 'blank' canvas it can take hours to line camo scheme's/patterns etc up, and without a ready made template even longer (as I found making Wellington/Anson/Blenheim and Defiant templates)
So to get to the 'couple of minutes' can in fact take many hours or days.

Possibly they are, but that one isn't. The frontal cockpit framing is black, which it wasn't, along with other minor inaccuracies.
Though you are quite right, as I tried to figure out the cowling and detail mapping, which are a mess on the Bf 108, that it can easily take hours to make a proper skins with perfect details and an elaborate camo pattern.
This one for example took quite a while just in the research department and is still far from being finished. Not having the template at the time didn't help either...
