I don't think it is simply the saturation of the sim that makes you "find the ingame appearance unrealistic". Occasionally I also find the landscape somehow looks slightly unrealistic. In my opinion the problem is caused
not by the saturation of colours, but by minutely inappropriate hue and value (brightness) of the colours of land, grass, or trees.
I believe a teacher of oil painting at Repin Academy of Fine Arts can solve the problem better. Not kidding.
