Yes it's a pity Apache on PS3/XBOX doesn't feature a custom layout option. As far as I know this was Activision's decision
Reason why I prefer to play this on PC. I'm using the PS3 DualShock controller with custom layout, right stick for free view and machine gun aim. No TrackIR or Free Track, although I heard they also work well.
