personally, i think all of the units, every one of them, for your chosen faction should be available to buy if you have enough resources. For a start, this would make it more like the type of skirmishes we really wanted (i.e 2v2 on Team matches selecting AI against us rather than human.) this will allow us to build tactics with all the units, discover all the units uses and how to strategically use them, and tactics for the maps, before we try our tactics on human opponents. Skirmish at the moment, the way it is, bears no resemblance to 2v2 human combat battles and so, is pointless really as you can only learn to use a handfull of select units.
