The fighters all tend to be universally nimble, armoured bombers are slow but absorb a lot of damage, and the jets are wicked fast. Horsepower rather than agility seems to set the fighters apart. When they stall, they all stall basically the same, and when they spin, you see the same spin more or less every time. Just mash on the opposite rudder and you should be okay. Crossing the controls (opposite stick and rudder) has no real effect which says to me that the flight models have been simplified at all levels."
WoP is IL2 ported over to the consoles as BoP, then ported back to PC as WoP. I'd be really surprised if they would keep the FMs at the level of IL2 because quite frankly, when you target a specific medium you have to make sure your software is usable with the prevailing user interface methods.

I guess 99% of PC virtual fliers own a joystick and that 1% who don't is the new guys to the hobby who are about to buy one. On the other hand, i doubt even 70% of the console crowd has joysticks (heck, the console compatible ones are a fairly new deal anyway), so something has to give if they want to make sure the player will manage to fly BoP with a gamepad.
