My guess is Ubisoft didn't have much of a hand in the development of this one because their other products of late have been quality and this one, not so much. it's sad really.

I returned my copy today to gamestop, and prepaid the new Halo.
Like I said, I am a huge HOTP fan and was looking forward to the sequel. The sequel is a complete let down, most likely the product of running out of Dev money.
Not trying to bash the game, just being honest. The game doesn't have features or menus present in the original game(and only 14 campaign missions), nor the variety in the online choices(only 4 modes and 4 maps).
