I wonder why it was still making the sputtering sound long after the engine quit.

It sounded like the pilot tried to re-start it. How did the engine failure occur?

Are you flying on simulation yet?

I have yet to kill my engine on sim mode.

ThatYoungGameGuy 09-01-2009 01:57 PM

yeah i do fly on sim mode, but this time i was just shooting down planes and then slo-mowing the clips. I just left the recorder going, and managed to catch this on tape. :D

One thing. On a dead stick landing like that, you DON'T change your line at the last minute. You commit to a line and stick with it. Otherwise, when you turn at the last minute, you roll into the ground.

The real Spitfire mkII's Merlin Engine would cut out if the pilot pulled a lot of negative G's by dropping the nose into a steep dive. Maybe the game is simulating that? I havn't tried it myself.
