Still loving IL2 1946
Well, with my Xbox broken and feeling a little tired of CoD, I played IL2 1946 online last night for the first time in ages.
Bloody brilliant! The lower quality graphics matter not a jot. Frame rates were of course through the roof and the game play/lack of glitches and comparatively limitless choice of missions/maps/aircraft mean this game has still got it. It was like seeing an old and very good friend again - a most pleasurable experience. I know some here just can't go back having had a taster of CoD but I did and loved it. CoD has a long way to go to catch up to IL2 1946 as an overall package IMHO. PPP |

I have been firing it up (1946) a lot more the past few weeks to do some of my favourite SP campaigns. It's nice to get into another 'pit', combat theatre, etc, and like you say, when you get over the initial reaction to the graphics, it's still a great sim! I actually found it harder than CloD regards spotting ac and the AI are far more threatening.......great fun!

Fly it two to three times a week, modded to buggery of course.
A game that has stood the test of time and will take a hell of a lot to surpass it, even if the graphics are starting to show their age the gameplay itself is so immersive and intuative its second nature. I only wish they would have the same overlay for CLoD |
