Bf109E-4 of Wilhelm Balthasar

New skin today, this is my interpretation of Wilhelm Balthasars aircraft that he flew at least from May 1940 and the rest of the year, this is reflected in the fact that the JG1, later JG27, markings are still on the aircraft along with the new markings of III./JG3. The aircaft is often depicted with the gundeck and supercharger intake in RLM02 but that makes no sense to me, it seems much more likely that it's faded RLM04 applied in the same manner as many other III./JG3 aircraft that then has faded and flaked possibly due to the numerous repaints this aircraft had undergone earlier.

Another beautiful skin! Thx Cpt!

One question:
Forgive my ignorance, but a lot of your skins have basically the same camouflage pattern on the wing surfaces. Is that a historical fact or do you use that particular pattern if you don't have the appropriate photo evidence (e.g. profile view photos that don't show the wing surfaces)?

This is by no means a complaint or anything! I'm just curious!

That's pretty much spot on, it's the standard camo for the time and I use it when there's no evidence of something else. For this skin and many others, photos show that it was indeed the one used.
