ATI Full Screen vs Pseudo

Quote:

* Added True full-screen mode. The game was previously playing in a stretched
window; that mode is also still available. Switch between windowed, pseudo
(stretched window) and true full screen modes in the Video Options.
NOTE: If you are running an ATI video card and you notice reduced performance in
True full-screen mode, please switch back to Pseudo to improve framerate;
As you can read in patch notes of BETA patch 14413 some ATI video cards can experience better performance in Pseudo mode than in full screen.

I guess is use full report them.

I think that my card is one of them, there is not a big difference, it is barely noticeable but the game runs more smooth in Pseudo mode.

Card :

ATI 5870

Driver:

11.4 whql

Os :

win7 64

I run in Fullscreen now, mainly because in Pseudo my VSYNC doesn't seem to work after the latest patch and I just can't stand the tearing.

HD6970 with 11.4WHQL Catalyst drivers, OS Win7 64

I run FULL and see no issues with my 6970 HD and 11.4

Full-screen - no issues.

I also have a 5870 card.
When i fire up the game, the game starts to the picture of the pilot and the maddox text (I deleted the ubi scene) and I can still see the bottom bar from windows (W7 - 64 bit).
I have to mouse click inside the picture area for the bottom bar to disappear and then I can tab esc twice to start the GUI. This does not look like full screen to me, although it is selected.

Maybe a 5870 problem.

I have to follow the same procedure with my 6970. I personally don't have a problem with it (Vista64 + ver 1.0014101). Hitting the ESC key twice is not necessary but skips the disclaimer faster.

@Bando

It's only the game portion that runs proper full screen. the gui portion looks to be done in wpf or some other .net framework. in pseudo full screen I believe the game is rendered to a buffer then stretched to fit a full size window.

I had significant stuttering issues with my old HD4870. I put a new HD6970 in and the stutters were gone.
