PS3 Sim Purist League: Team Captains Needed

PS3 Team Ladder Charter

1) Teams

a) teams form themselves and have between 3 and 4 members
b) no team may have 2 members in the top 8 on the same leaderboard when formed (moving into top 8 later is ok)
c) all teams must have one representative who posts on this forum, called "team captain"
d) the captain is responsible for their team knowing the rules, and will send their team the .jpg copy provided via PSN.

2) Matches

a) teams will organize their own matches.
b) matches consist of two 20-minute rounds, each team is considered host of one round
c) captains will send before/after screenshots of matches to ladder mods via PSN, with match settings described.
d) mod will post results and update ladder with mode and overall rankings.

3) Scoring

a) the team that wins the most rounds is victor. (two wins, or a win and a tie.)
b) the match is a draw if each team wins 1 round, or if they tie both rounds.
c) 3 points for a 3v3 win, 2 points for a 2v2 win, 1 point for a draw or forfeit win, -1 point for a loss.
d) a match is forfeit if the team reps use the forum to set it up, and one team fails to show up within 30 minutes of the agreed time.

4) Modes

a) Air Combat - 20 minute round in strike, max tickets, at least 2 players per team required.

b) Airfields - 20 minute round in Capture Airfields, max tickets, two-field map, at least 3 players per team required

c) Strike - 20 minute round in Strike, max tickets, at least 3 players per team required. In each round, the host is defense, and guest is offense.

5) Rules and Settings

a) Mandatory

Limited ammo in all modes.

air combat: no bombers, jets or biplanes. No night. No hitting ground targets. Winner is team with fewest deaths.

airfields: no runway-sitting. No high-load bombers (he111, blenheim, I4, b17 or a-20), jets or biplanes. Only 1 attack plane/light bomber per team (p47, sturmovik, ju-87). No kamikaze! 15-second respawn.

strike: No kamikaze! No blatant ramming of bombers. Only offense may use bombers. All targets destroyed is a won round for offense. Defense below 300 tickets but not destroyed is a tie, and over 300 tickets for defense means defense wins the round. No jets. No poor or worse weather.
15-second respawn. Bailing out ok.

b) host-optional (host may impose any of these)

map, time of day (morning, day, evening), weather
no bombs and/or rockets in airfields
air combat aircraft ban: maximum 1 British or Soviet plane per team
strike aircraft bans: p47
airfields aircraft bans: p47, sturmoviks, stukas, bf110's, and/or I-16.

c) guest-optional

team choice (A or B), respawn time in air combat

d) mutual-optional (both team captains MUST agree for any of these to apply)

cockpits only; no map; allow night in strike or airfields; restrict # of b17's in strike (must apply to both rounds); allow unlimited ammo in air combat; allow jets/rockets (fighters only); allow biplanes.

6) Team changes

a) any team may join the ladder at any time, as long as it is within the rules for newly formed teams.
b) players may join a team at any time, but only once in any 2-week period. Forming a team counts as a join for all members. So, no clan-hopping.
c) players may quit a team at any time.
d) if any team has fewer than half its original members, it is considered disbanded, can no longer earn points, and its members must find other teams.
e) A team captain who fails to post on the forum for 14 days is considered inactive, and the team captain-less. if a team loses its captain, it has one week to find a replacement or it is disbanded.
f) inactive players may be booted from a team by the active members.
g) The team captain has final say in all internal team matters.

7) Modifications

a) rule changes may be proposed on the forum by any team captain; they take effect if at least 2/3 of team captains post in favor, or all team captains if there are 4 or fewer teams.
b) the ladder will continue until everyone finds something better to do. A deadline may be proposed as a rule change, if accepted the leader in each mode will be declared champion after the deadline.

Just curious, why have the air combat in strike mode instead of team battle? I think this is a great idea by the way.

So spawns are not random and therefore fair.

Also to make sure there's no confusion about who wins the round, so the team with fewest deaths gets "mission complete" at the end. This is a legacy of two earlier tournaments, it works

If I was on ps3 I'd say I want in, but I'm not so I'll just wish you luck. :)

Sanjuro what is your PSN ID, your identity has a few people mystified

judging by reactions so far, we may as well start forming teams, once there's at least 3, then matches can start, and create a snowball effect from there
