Take a good look at the box art

Is it just me or does it seem like Spitfires are shooting down the IL-2 on the cover art? wtf? were there even any british squadrons stationed on the Eastern Front? lol oh well... awesome game, regardless:-D

Look even closer, it's stuka, not an IL2. So the spits are on target.

Vulcan607 09-05-2009 03:17 PM

isnt it a stuka ju 87?

skullblits 09-05-2009 03:20 PM

It isnt a stuka, There Wheel are in a Fixed position, this plane Wheels are up

Jasta 6 09-05-2009 03:23 PM

yup... its not a Stuka

PF_Lizard 09-05-2009 03:34 PM

Looks exactly like a Ju-87 to me. Looks like it's simply had its wheels blown off in the name of composition!

Tally-Ho 09-05-2009 03:38 PM

looks like a poorly painted stuka - no wheels.

two-seater
inverted gull wings
rear wing struts

Jasta 6 09-05-2009 03:50 PM

poorly painted indeed... no undercarriage threw me off. lol nevermind then

Steiner 09-05-2009 04:03 PM

I personally shot the wheels and struts off that Stuka...;)

...and since when are IL 2s designed with a gull wing?

They were developed to combat the German Unicorns, make it an easier match up :P

I wouldn't know honestly. WW1 is more my area of expertise. I just assumed that the game's namesake would be featured on the box... guess i still haven't learned that old lesson about assumption.:-P

It's Stuka without Wheels.
Publisher's artist said, that they were ripped off.
That Stuka is 'more aesthatically looking' without wheels.
As for me (and all of our team), it is silly - but I am not selling guy.

In any case box art should be game seller, not a game presentation, so I don't care much.

Marketing people probably tried to nerf this game into a joke like "Heroes over Europe or Ace Combat" - I'm suprised you managed to keep as much of the PC experience as you did given the pressure to make the game more arcade like for the spazzy youngsters they claim are the entire market.

Funny how kids these days can be bothered to learn the ins-and-outs of a game like WoW - but a realistic flight sim is too steep a learning curve according to the marketing "experts".
