Battle of britain single player

Mission: Inspect airfields.
Touch and go on 3 marked airfields and make sure they are combat ready.
I touch and go on all three and fly over them a million times but there isnt any confirmation. I eventually need to exit the mission. Anyone know whats up with this one?

maybe you should land, stop, wait a while, and then take off again?

yes i completed this one last night, you have to come to a complete stop on the runway for about 20 seconds or until the airstrip stops flashing on your map

Not looking forward to this mission with Aviator setup... You don't get any brakes and flip as soon as you go below 31mph

lol, that sort of defeats the purpose of calling it a "touch and go". They should probably tell you not to touch and go.
I will try that, thanks.

It will be impossible for you I'm afraid. You must land and full stop 3 times, it's not a touch and go at all. I forgot to brake once and at 31mph you know what happened.

Also with this mission you are allowed 1 retry by jumping into your wingman, the only problem with that is your wingman tends to crash when you have landed at the first airfield so you don't get any retry attempts in reality.

This mission frustrated me big time on sim mode, I must have had to do it 10 times.

I've landed several times with the AV8R on both realistic and simulator. As soon as your tailwheel settles down and your speed drops enough to keep you from going airborne again, pull full back on the stick and keep it there.

Haven't tried it with anything with tricycle gear yet, so I can't vouch for this in all planes, but so far so good with what I've unlocked.

Exactly. With the Aviator flight stick and Simulation difficulty it is not possible to land Spitfire mk II, because at 57 km/h (31mph) it will flip on every single time. Other planes also will try to flip, but not to the extent they would roll over.

I hope the devs will work a fix to this since there is a lot of gamers who use Aviator flight stick, and would like to play simulation difficulty. Excluding this notorious "Flip on 57" -bug, the game is superb and the decision to support Aviator was correct choice.

I think my game has a sticker on it saying something like 'Best played with AV8R'. After flipping over the 50th time it sounded kind of cynical to me, but still I refuse using a joypad...

Me too, just pull back and it seems to stop without flipping.

No, it doesn't work like that with Aviator flight stick. Because there are no manually controlled brakes with Aviator, the AI will make a fatal auto-brake at exactly 57 km/h which will flip Spitfire inevitably. pulling back works with the xb360 controller where you can lean on the right pad for brakes. It doesn't even matter there what you do with the left pad.

Works for me with an AV8R. Firing the guns while on the ground works as a slow break as well.

With the AV8R a usually stop by using the rudder violently left and right as soon as all wheels are firmly in the ground...have to try out with guns

Are you sure you are flying Spitfire on Sim, all other planes flip at 57 but not enough to roll over. Flipping happens only on Sim/Spitfire/AV8R. Nothing will result in controlled recovery of the 57 flip. It seems to be purely random when the flipping is violent enough to nose down Spitfire, but it will always happen in at least 9/10 of the cases. I have already suspected 10 different reasons how to prevent this but none of them really works except randomly.

I just tried the firing, but it still flips at 57. It doesn't even help if I drive the runway in circles a few times. Whenever you slow below 57, it will flip.
There is still no cure for this.

Weird AI behaviour

I've also noted that your plane will sometimes take off by itself and the flight controls freeze until you are some way from the airfield.

Anybody else experience this? Any reasons?
