This Gamestop employee made me laugh
:xWell i just called gamestop hoping on some sliver of a miracle that they would have it today. When he picked up the phone i said "Hey, you guys didnt by chance recieve Il2: Birds of Prey for 360 today did you?" his response "Il what?" i replied "Il2: Sturmovik Birds of Prey....the plane game" his "Ohhh ok, did you want that new or used?" i reply"....um it comes out either today or tmw, i was just seeing if you had it" he replys "i guess you dont want used huh? (he laughs....i dont)" then he tells me that its street dated today, and that i should check back tmw.:x

yeah... when i pre-ordered mine, you should have seen the look on the guy's face. ".....do what, now?" lol
|
yeah most of the guys standing behind the counters in a gameshop dont even know anything about games and that is frustrating sometimes

This will be the third time i've gone though, it's always alot of fun. there's usually at least 5 or 6 full size reproduction aircraft, and a slew of 7/8 scale replicas. They all take off from the field behind the museum and circle around and do fly bys, they also have a flour bomb drop and balloon busting competitions. |
thats really cool, im def going.

You know, to a Russian it seems kind of weird to hear IL-2 pronounced like in I'll-2. In Russian it sounds like Eel-2. )

I think people pronounce it I'll due to the two letter abbreviation. I think this is the most confusing post I've ever made, but it makes sense to me. Either way, the board will crash shortly due to an excessive amount of  |
Irrelevant, it does make perfect sense, it is exactly like you are saying.
haitch40, no, it's not the accent, see irrelevant's post above. |

Well I'm Blessed with a great EBgames here in ST Clairsville and I stopped in today just to see if , by chance it came in early. They said "No it should be here tommorow" and then threw me a Pack of 4 of the Tshirts ! I love my Ebgames, The people that work at my store are some HARD core gamers and they make a point of taking care of their own kind.
Oh and guys the Tshirts are really nice, Fruit of the Loom, Heavy Cotton series. Very nice shirts ! DESODE |
It was the night before Christmas, and all through the house....

Looks like I'll be heading to Game Stop tomorrow, as well. ;) |
St Clairville? More Ohioans?
Gamestop just sent me a text message.. my copy of IL2 will be in tomorrow:-D:-D:-D |
This is the reason shops like Gamestop in the US and GAME and Gamestation here in the UK get the publishers and developers annoyed about used games sales. I've lost count of the times I've picked up a new copy and taken it to the counter and asked if I'd prefer a used copy which only saves me a few £ off the full retail price. The shops make all the profit on a used copy and for each used copy sold its effectively a lost sale for the developer/publisher. I'm not saying selling used games should be stopped but I do understand the publisher/developers frustration at this particular sales ploy at the shops.
|
Well its just more proof of how very, very niche the game is, and how few people even know about. The game basically has no chance of putting up decent sales.

I alos had a good time joking with the Gamestop employees. Here is the approx dialog:
09/01/09 Me: "Did IL-2 arrive today?" GS: "whats that?" Me: "a game...." GS: "what system?" Me: "all of them!" GS: "let me check..." Me: "Thanks..." GS: "it should arrive tomorrow. What is this, a flight game?" Me: "NOPE! the spitfire on the cover is just to trick you. It's really a redesigned version of Purbble Palace..." GS: "..." Me: "I'm just kidding man." GS: "So is it a flight sim or an arcade game?" Me: "Both. Actually there are three settings, arcade, realistic, and sim." GS: "are you joking again?" Me: "No..." GS: "...well thats pretty cool" Me: "isn't it?" GS: "I loved Ace Combat!" Me: "...I'll call back tomorrow, thank you." GS: "...have a good day sir" 09/02/09 (standing at the counter this time!) Me: "Has IL-2 arrived yet?" GS: "Whats that?" ME:  I walk over to a small display case and pick up a pre-order box. "a G..A..M..E.." GS: "let me check....." (He looks around the counter, and then checks the back. He returns from the back and grabs a box cutter. I'm getting excited! He returns and says:) "Not today man, it should be here tomorrow" Me:  "Thank you..." GS: as I turn to leave he says " It says it ships today, Texas or California might get it by tonight. Just check back tomorrow." Me: " Thanks again..." Ironicly as I am typing this, I just got my confirmation call from GS. |
Dennis, I can't wait for you to hop aboard the banned wagon. Your act is tired.
