Simulation Mode + Multiplayer = Cockpit & virtual cockpit?
When we are playing in multiplayer and elect for a Simulation match, will we be be able to switch from the cockpit view to the virtual cockpit view like we can in the single player demo?
If so then, I am going to just chock up the multiplayer as being the suck and not even bother. I HATE the virtual cockpit and refuse to use it cause it annoys me and looses so much immersion, so if I am in a simulation dogfight match online and my competition can use the virtual cockpit view and get a 60% view advantage over me than the fun and fairness of the multiplayer dogfighting is totally lost. Soooo any word on this.... I know there are no german cockpits (which is total crap, at least put the 109 and the other really popular fighter cockpit in their), so will we be able to filter the match to only allow cockpit planes and only allow cockpit views? |

Virtual would def be an advantage, if you could pick. Should be one, or the other.
|
I asked Anton a few days ago if one of the options in online play would be to fix the view that everyone will use and I got a one word answer "yep". Pretty clear! Having asked the question myself I could not agree more with your concerns but it looks like they've addressed this particular one.

Ok this is excellent news!
|
The bad news is that with the cockpit view locked in there are only 12 planes, all of them Allied, to choose from.

12 planes are going to get boring pretty quickly. The ones I know about are the Spitfire, Hurricane, I-16, Il10, and P47, and the P51 apparently shares the P47s cockpit, so that will be there. I just hope the three marks of Spitfire aren't being counted as three of the 12 planes. Might be a Yak-3 or one or two of the other Russian fighters for the two Russian campaigns, but I haven't seen these yet. I think at least one of the 12 is a heavy bomber, and they don't have cockpits, so the list is down to 11. If the planes are locked to their respective sides then the only mode which will work is Dogfight. Because of this, I will probably play in Sim matches that allow all aircraft, and just use something with a cockpit myself. |
:grin:I can understand peoples disappointment, but lets be honest... MP is STILL going to be Sh!tload of fun..

Dont think so if you consider budget etc.
|
If that's too expensive, then just go with the promised cockpits for the Bf109 and Fw190 then and use these for all the Axis planes. Use a similar solution for the Allied ones. Its better than nothing and it would allow cockpit only multiplayer.
But think about it in the long run, they will need these cockpits for any sequels, so they might as well put them in now. |
agreed

The virtual cockpit rules. Just get used to it and then all the plannes are on the same page.

You are wrong.

everyone is entitled to their opinion...
with the cockpits its relative, but I reckon the more you use a cockpit, the more you wanna stick with it...the virtual is great for field of view, but there are aspects of intuitive play that require a cockpit for correct orientation... its a bit like drive sims, I'm quicker with a bonnet view, but drivers seat view is so much more rewarding...plus the instruments are handy... ________ Hot Box Vape |

I find the cockpit much easier to remain orientated. I often forget which direction my plane is facing when looking at a target in virtual cockpit... |
yea same problem, tracking a target suddenly noticing im going straight to the ground.

I just don't get sim multiplayer being 12 allied planes only. It kills it as a sim for me. An utter let down. Given the plane choices you can't even make a sudo Korean war scenario with them.
|
i hope the dlc with the german planes come soon and i hope its free because we deserve to get them not pay 10 euros more only for cockpits we already had to have in the beginning

This is very bad news, the first but very bad. I saw myself already in the cockpit of my beautiful Bf 109 K-4 to track down Spitfires and P-51 Or in the cockpit of a He-111 look right to left through the panoramic glass roof if there are fighter in the vicinity. I am very disappointed :( ( and many people in the french forum "jeuxvideo.com" too) Anyway, this game is still a head of Artwork (it's still a hard blow for me who am a fanatical of German aviation) I hope this problem will be solved in a next il-2. :-) |
a reminder...according to Anton a german cockpit or two will feature in patch/dlc sept/oct
lets keep it in perspective:grin: ________ IPAD GUIDE |
2 cockpit is not much.
List of German planes in this game: Bf-109 Bf-110 Fw-190 He-111 Ju-87 Stuka Me 262 Me 163 komet He-162 Hs-123 Ar-234 planes than i would hope to use frequently in MP : Bf-109 k, He-111, He-162, He-219 Pe-2, Il-2, B-17 If I understood, none of these 7 planes have a cockpit view. It is very discouraging. And only the Bf 109 cockpit should be present in the DLC. :( |
the FW-190 has the nicest cockpit of all WWII planes. It's the interior of an 80's japanese sports car! lol
|
If you join a game where you are locked into the cockpit view I assume this would prevent any team based games because all planes would be allies and so you wouldn't know who is on your team.
Demo is awesome by the way, can't wait to get the full game:grin: |
Those bubble cockpits the bombers have are really cool. Really hoping that might be in some DLC too.

Initially I intended to take often bombers in MP (especially the He-111 with its glass bubble  ) but now they just told us that bombers wouldn't have cockpit view, I have less desire to take its in MP. :( We are most feeling full contact, which gave us the impression that we found in the cockpit of a He-111 in 1940 in formation, tried to stay the course despite the bullets that rang around through panoramic windows and despite the fear that one feels in seeing through the windows cracked our allies entirely on fire or with a wing of their bomber in less. (sorry for my bad english) |
