XBOX360 Squadrons
Now that we have a release date, I would like to officially announce the formation of VF-224, the Diving Peregrines. For those of you who don't know, the Peregrine Falcon is the fastest bird of prey in the world and my squadron motto is "No Faster Way To Die". As I am a heraldic artist in my spare time, I made a squadron insignia and it is below in my signature. If you'd like to join, shoot me an email: il2@assumearms.com.
|
Thanks for the announcement.

Is it a suicide squad? haha.

Too bad i cant join or kill you guys!
|
You can if you buy the superior (spelling?) Ps3 :-P
|
Maybe with the sequel ;) i dont like the ps3 that much.
|
I'm actually surprised that there haven't been more Squadrons pop up yet. So far there is only V.A.S and this one. And up till now there was no Xbox360 squadron! Are most of the regulars here on PS3?
|
well ps3 is far better if u can afford it (some people have had temperamental blu ray lazer as well) but if u buy bop play it on watever u want (must sell bop)
|
To me it already starts with the controller i really dont like it.
So I enjoy xbox alot more. But yea its good to also have a Xbox squad around, im not interested yet, wanne be the Merc first haha :-P |

haha dont worry, everyone who likes ps3 better says its better then xbox controller. no worries, but my first analogstick was with the N64.
I dont like ps3 controller because the analog sticks are in wrong stressfull position, and the controler base is just to short i want full support in my hand! |
i play on xbox and probably want to join a squadron in the future, nice to see there is some general interest.
im with the above poster regarding the controllers. the 360 controller is much more comfortable imo and was one of the reasons i chose the xbox over the ps3. |

Dont Forget the Dreamcast! i never had one myself, but that thing was AHEAD of its time hehe.
And i really hope there is gonna be a good Xbox community for this game! |

I would love to join, but the clown colored P-51B is a turn off. I just can't help but laugh. Sorry.
|
the old ones yea, the 360's just fit in your hand completely, where the ps3 controller stops in your palm, and you have to strech your thumbs to the sticks, wich gives alot of stress in my muscles.
But yea i think when you played with the controller since ps1 youre kinda used to it, wich would make the 360 controller awkward. Edit: damn i should stop goin off-topic all the time! xD |

Back on topic... |
Yes, the PS3 is a good system, but the XBOX is much better online (might have something to due with Microsoft?...lol), and the newer units have been much more reliable. As far as the best controller, I have used both and they both work well, but for you hard-core pilots out there I also tried out a HORI ACE-EDGE at my local shop yesterday, it worked really well and has a very nice “rumble” effect to it.

Hi Danny,
Read the first post... |
I already had a thread like this a while back, but I guess we can use this one now since it's new and shiney.
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=8032 --------------------------------------------------------- My squad has been around since the fall of 2007. Here is a brief description: The 86th Independent Air Squadron is a simulated composite squadron for on-line aerial combat simulators and games. Our mission is to form a squadron with a unique and disciplined fighting style. The members of the 86th work together as a team to achive simulated air superiority. Although aggressive in combat, we also like to enjoy ourselves. All of our members are welcome to be a part of command decisions, and (at times) even vote. Our staff is well educated in aviation, and the responsibility of commanding a squadron. With over six years of real-world squadron command experience and aerospace education, our squadron is always up for the challenge. The 86th I.A.S. is modeled after a real USAF unit. Our chain of command follows the same guidelines as the USAF, and we try to keep as much fiction out as possible. We don't have any gods or generals, just a basic working grade structure. Members are promoted based on skill and participation. If you are interested in joining, please register on our site by clicking the link below. Are there any British sqaudrons out there? I'd love to join one but I think so far they are mostly run by American pilots. Not sure how it would all work but I'm guessing the timezone delay would make it an issue to join up with one of them. I would start one myself but 1) no idea how and 2) just wouldn't have the time.

yeah be nice if someone did it, im too busy:)

Squadrons can be full, bloated with a symbol of "im higher rank so im better attitude" i dont like that. A command structure isnt worth a hill of beans in he or she cant shoot for shit, or fly for that matter. People who have a rank assigned to them with some power behind it tend to have a big head. I have made a thread a few weeks back and have some friends from that post. My friends and I and i think a few on here are waiting until the game comes out to make a move. :) Im not bashing a well oil machine no matter how big. Im sayin for those who are getting pilots just to increase their numbers will be dissappointed when they find out they might just be cannon fodder
I will fly with anyone on here if they want to have fun, fly together, and kill together. For those who play the IL2 on PC know how great the personal reward is for saving a buddy who is close to getting shot down. Or the thrill of being vastly outnumbered and fighting for your life. :) i hope to make many friends and fly with many more ;-) |

The 86th has a policy: No drama...period. Anyone involved in drama will find themselves out on the curb. Unfortunately you can't forsee who will be a problem and who will not before a member joins, but it is up to the staff to recognize problems and deal with them swiftly. I've had a few troublemakers over the years, but they usually don't last very long. Secondly, when you speak about those who don't fair well in the air, I think thats half the point of being in a squadron. The 86th has a flight training program run by our top scoring aces. It allows the nuggets to learn one on one from people who have been playing for years. On a side note, we used to have a euro division. Problem was I couldn't find anyone to host the bi-weekly meetings or coordinate events. If there is enough interest, I would consider setting it up for you guys. All you would have to do is find an honest person to keep score. |
I will see who i end up joining want to be free lance first for a while haha

To all my fellow pilots from across the pond...
To all my fellow pilots from across the pond, we here in the “colonies” just want to fly and have a good time. I know the time zone difference is quite large but I don’t see why we can’t be in the same squad, fly with each other in our own time zones and hopefully meet up with our European/American counterparts occasionally on week nights or weekends. We will have the benefit of a collective information base and a few laughs when we finally get to fly together. I also race a lot and I am in probably the most respected Car Club online, TRC and we have many members from Europe, which makes us a much better team. We are starting up a new squad and if you’re interested please see the first post for sign-up information with VF-224, the Diving Peregrines.
Cheers mate! |
Change of Squadron Motto & Color...
Ok, as a heraldic artist, I can get to close to my work. I have removed the gold from the plane and used a gray with is probably more authentic. Also someone pointed out that the motto could be misconstrued as suicide, which is true, so I changed it to "Death Dealt By Speed".
Thanks for all the input and I'd be interested in what the critics of the "Clown Colored P-51" think of it now... Cheers, |

Artist's Bug...
Sorry I got to looking at real P-51s again and I noticed 2 things: 1. I like the D version best, so I had to change my artwork. 2. There are blue nose variants out there. Also I have the artist's bug that says a work is never finished, so I revised to a D version, changed the colors to "Black N' Blue" and since I had done that, I figured I'd change the motto 1 last time to "Blue Nose - Black Death" ...
P.S. Subaru, I'm sending a new file for you... |
