Will You Pre-Order?
With lots of other great games coming out around September 4th such as Modern Warfare 2, DiRT 2... Will you Pre-Order IL-2 Sturmovik Birds Of Prey?
|
I've already pre-ordered it.

Got it at the top of my Gamefly cue. Haven't seen anywhere to pre-order it or buy it for that matter.

nice, i live in the UK, so i guess i'll have to stick with GAME, i get 2 free in-game planes though :)
The downloadable planes are the 'P47D' and 'TA152H1'. These planes will be available to be flown in all multiplayer modes. One code gains access to both planes. |
Nope.
I generally don't pre-order anything, unless it is a game coming with limited edition hardware, such as Steel Battalion or Ace Combat 6. I've never once not been able to find a game the day it comes out. |

Hopefully the planes will be avaible later...
|
If I understand right, these planes will be available to purchase from as soon as the game comes out, and the pre-order is just giving you them for free.

I WILL BE BUYING IT ON RELEASE DAY THOUGH.;) |

And how do you know? |

Bah, I already have Birds of Prey pre-ordered at Amazon (along with DiRT 2, which releases the dame day). Now I wonder whether I should switch my order to Game on the off chance that I get the bonus content. |
There isn't a deal to get those planes via pre-order in the states? That sucks for you.
Anton has mentioned several times that you get these planes by pre-ordering, the offer is also mentioned on the Game store website and since you have to download them off Live Marketplace they wouldn't be much of a bonus if you didn't need to pre-order to get them free. |
Business decision. They are trying to make some extra money by selling some of the planes separately. A lot of other companies do the same, so I guess we shouldn't be too surprised. At least it means we should be able to look forward to a steady stream of DLC.
|
just looked on Game site and noticed the pre-order bonus is not advertised on ps3 version
|
Yeah, I really don't like the way they have deliberately cut two aircraft from the game to sell separately. I don't mind paying for content they create after the game comes out, but this is just a rip-off.

if i cant get the pre-order bonus i will certainly fork out the extra cash for those extra planes. but dont get me wrong i still think its not a good idea cutting them out. |
I hate it when people cut things out of a game and then make you buy them after the game comes out.

it'll only get worse.. Cod 4 - 1 map pack Cod 5 - 2 map packs I shudder to think what MW2 will be like. As for BOP, it's a little disappointing but not unexpected, and the bonus planes is probably just to boost sales and awareness as DIRT2 is out same time and POMS like their rally games... MW2 November release...looks more like MWv1.1 to me but thats another thread and FORUM! ________ CRETE RECIPES |

I dont really have a problem with paying for DLC. but when its paying for stuff that has been cut out and re-applied later i do think it's wrong. Then again, if i worked for Marketing i would definately say this is the right thing to do. |

me too..my late Father was a navigator on Shackletons... hopefully also the mosquito- SPECULATION: I kinda reckon that the Pacific Theatres might well come as map packs (1 for pearl harbour-1 for guadacanal etc etc) along with "Plane Packs" specific to the theatre...if the game engine pans out to everyones expectations then why re-invent the wheel? Too many US and Jap gamers to ignore... ________ Buy silver surfer vaporizer |

i guess im gonna be playing the game with my face at this rate |
Modern Warfare 2 comes out two months after BoP. And personally, I don't think there is enough that is new to warrent $60 from me. That's Gamefly all the way.
And hell yeah I ordered. I work nights, so when I wake up that afternoon it will be at my door. Now that's convienience. No free time wasted, and no gas burnt. |

There are a couple of other expansions that could be done this way, such as a Korean War expansion pack. The same basic game engine could be used with no changes, so it would be no harder than creating some new maps and aircraft. I would love to be able to fly the Sabre and MiG-15, and a wide variety of prop engined aircraft also took part in the Korean War |
Preordered it already at 30 quid. Not bad.
