Why does my spitfire stall at any speed or turns..!!
Hi all i`m playing the 360 demo on the top mode and stall all the time, can you tell me the problem, i have played flights games on many machines, but this is dam tough
Also do you know in the full can we pick a mode and swap things around IE/ Arcade mode for flying, but real damage effects...? I love arcade mode for flying, but shooing bombers is too easy.. Thanks all Alan-Uk |
it helps to lower the sensitivity.

I believe what you are expereincing are Accelerating stalls... i could go into detail but the simple answer is dont yank back on the stick so hard...ease into it and lower airspeed.

Take the sensitivty on both down 10 clicks (8 notches showing from the left) Fastest you can have it without spinning by going to the extreme edge of the joystick ROM.

Can any of you fly guys out there answer this? Did these planes all actually stall or go into flat spins as frequently as this sim shows? I can't believe it! They just drop like stones!
|
No they were much better pilots than you! :-P

Just put the sensitivity down and dont turn that hard. |

In real life, pilots would have the physical sensation of a stall to let them know when they were pulling to hard - plus at high speed there would be some nasty G-forces preventing the pilot from yanking so hard. You have none of these sensations to help you feel a stall coming on, so it just takes time to get used to the handling. The flight model is pretty dang accurate in IL2 (certainly more so than most sims), so yes, the plane behaviour for the control surface input and speed you are giving the plane is pretty close to real - if you have a proper flight stick, then all you need is more time. Also, I used to turn up the sound on the pc IL2 to help, you could hear the buffeting sound of a stall and learn to use that to fly on the edge. I have no idea how much of the sound from the PC game is intact though. |

Good post.. Would just like to add that the problem with BOP is there is NO sound effect for the shuddering of the plane before a high speed stall..... I started a thread yesterday on this called (Missing sound effects...) Anton said he would check on it. The PC had this sound effect and it was very audible. BOP is incomplete unless they patch it in after release....as it sits right now I would compare this to a driving sim where the tire 'squeel' noise was left out during the loss of traction. |

Flying with the Aviator stick is much easier. I don't know if it's because of the longer stick or I just got used to the turn rates but even with sensitivity all the way up it is a much more intuitive way to fly.
It also helps to keep your throttle maxed out on almost any type of turns. That is also much easier with a stick throttle. Probably not great practice for real dog fights but at least it will keep you from stalling out every time. |
Its called high speed G's

Like everybody said, the sensitivity reduction worked wonders. Thanks you guys... What's everybody doing about the flaps/trim? Combat flaps for fighting right? What does the trim affect? I'm also noticing the rudder is WAY more sensitive in sim mode as well. I have major trouble crabbing sideways to line up shots now... |
