Looking to up date from 4.09 to current
 

HI, looking to update from 4.09m to current, I have not been active in the updating versions and online flying in a few years and would like to get back into it. I can't seem to find any 4.10 links....is there a patch that will get me from 4.09m to current?

If not checked or no--->May be Windows related, AFAIR the game may not be placed in the standard windows folder (programs?) -if there copy game to any other location. And may not run if not admin account.

Hi yes it ran great with 409m in fact so great that its been my standard game PERIOD....

I just have not been "online" for a while. I tried every thing the thing just crashes from the shortcut, or the il2fb.exe within the folder. I have a backup copy and its doing the same. But I don't know how to get into the file of "log" to see where its crashing, I was playing it just before the attempt to upgrade it. It is also running hsfx bu I disabled the folder (I disabled all the folders that had to do with mods) and installed the SAS pack. and tahts when it stopped working.

I tried to see if it actually installed I do not see any new files. :confused:

You tried to patch on top of all of those mods??? No wonder it's not working! Sorry, but there is only one solution for you - reinstall. Save all copies of the "vanilla" versions you might need later. (4.10.1 for instance, that's what the current DBW is installed onto.)

Well I disabled all the folders like I did when I installed 409, maybe I missed a few???

But the backup copy is behaving the same way and no install was done there...
does this install modify the .exe?

OK so here is where I show that I don't know (remember) enough to do this properly...

I found/remembered an exe file that I labeled "Original_il2fb.exe" so in desperation I clicked on it!!! Guess what??? the game roared to life! However its all in Russian and none of the mods or rudder pedals throttle etc work. IT was in the backup folder....

So I went ahead and ordered a new copy because I cant find my original..... :oops: doh! and will reinstall....

What I need to know however.....does the exe file get altered or replaced by the this patch? if so what is affecting it? I know it probably too lengthy to explain it. Just looking to see if I can get this fixed before I delete all the mods for space.

would any one want to share an image of a "vanilla" install folder maybe I could take out all that should not be there and work from the exe that works?

Or just wait for the disc.....

No, the original EXE is not changed by patching.

I think what it does is check to see if the file is there and if it is, it leaves it alone, if its not there it will write another (the installer) I tested it. It did write a file but No Joy for the game.

I screwed the pooch good on this one.

what are these files:

I ask because these files are not in the backup folder. And their icons look different.

Just await the amazon order I guess....

The only one existing is 'Rcu'. The second one is unknown to me and the third one looks like a backup of the original IL-2 executive file (I have named it exactly the same :D).
BTW: If the game is in russian (and wasn't before) its most likely a wrong EXE. Try the one above!
