So...errr....who are you chaps reporting to now? What is the future for TD?

Hi guys. Now that CloD has bitten the dust and what is left of the team have shifted to 777, who do you have to ask now to approve patches for release?

I'm just concerned as I presumed you were under the umbrella of Maddox games but now they are off the map, what future is there for TD and are we looking at your demise too?

Of-course I hope not, but I also think they may look at your talent and whisk you away to help get the new BoS on track?

Can you give us any information as to your situation in these mixed up times?

Cheers, MP

+1 with mysticpuma here.

FatCat99, pliz answer :)

-Does it mean the BoB map and other med maps could be incorporated in il2 in the short future?
-Does it mean some planes restricted (or not) to this Theatres of ops will be incorporated.
-Does it mean that several "restrictions" could be set aside and the use of higher poly's models, bigger cockpits repaints and other nice stuff made by the modders could be put into il2?
-Does it Mean that the Bf109 and the Wurger's pilots will be able to take 1G more than the spit pilots (or any other ally planes) and that the wurger will not loose it's wings at 6G anymore? ;)

Also, what's 1c/Maddox's relationship to Ubisoft going to be with respect to the IL2 franchise?

good question. Does this spell the end or just the beginning of yet another phase?

MicroWave 12-13-2012 07:10 PM

The future's uncertain, and the end is always near.

Frankly, we don't know if this has anything to do with us.
If we ever figure it out, we'll let you know.
There is no reason to panic, for now.

Bearcat 12-13-2012 09:52 PM

No panicking here.. and from where I sit.. some of you guys were modders before this.. so.. ;) .. I think in any case this sim.. this version of IL2 is far from dead.

I'm not panicking, I'm waiting with anticipation.

If CloD is going to die, will that change the "gentleman's agreement" with Oleg and allow inclusion of Battle of Britain content?

If 777 now has rights to the original IL2 franchise, does that mean that Wings of Prey content can be imported into IL2?

Will Ubisoft still be involved in distribution of IL?

If Il2 is no longer a 1c or UbiSoft product, does that void the NG contract?

Funny how much more you can get from a 10 year old sim.

That would be realy interesting, If the restrictions are over, Il2 could be the most absolut complete WW2 Flight sim ever

It still amazes me.. Yes it does look a little dated when compared to CoD, WoP, WT or RoF but it still looks D@MN good and it flies good and in many ways it is still a better product than anything on the market. Actually this sim engine is 12+ years old I think.. Which makes gives me confidence that BoS will not be as dated as some think.

KG26_Alpha 12-15-2012 09:08 PM

Not as old as that.

It was reworked with IL2 FB and again IL2 PF and possibly later versions also, its definately not a 10/12 years old, the tile maybe not the inner workings though !!

IIRC

Bearcat 12-15-2012 11:41 PM

Yeah but if you make an engine and tweak it twice.. it is still the same engine at it's core.. that's my point. It started out as a space game.

Care to elaborate? While I know originally the Ilyushin was to be the only flyable(thus the limitations that had to be worked around in subsequent upgrades) I wasn't aware the engine had been adapted from a previous title.

julien673 12-16-2012 03:14 AM

I think he said that the FM was really poor in the first release ;)

It was better than any thing else out there at the time.

The main point for me was everything was on one disc and no modded ac, everything was stock so everyone was on the same level.

At that time back then nearly all WW2 sims were modded to hell and the downloaded aircraft made it a mess getting compatibility correct.

(sounds familiar)

IL2 was a one disc solution to secure FM DM

jermin 12-16-2012 11:40 PM

Currently IL-2 is in need of a secure FM/DM badly. The online community is a mess now.

I remember reading somewhere where Oleg said that this was originally a space simbut he always wanted to do a WWII sim. I don't remember where it was though.

That's what got me too.
