Hi everyone,

Edit (18/Mar/2015):

Source Code:
For anyone (Delphi developers?) that's interested, I have made the source code on BitBucket public.

Edit (11/Mar/2013):
Vesion: 0.0.0.2
Quote:

Change Log:
  1. Additional parameters specified to "CloDer.exe" will be passed onto "Launcher.exe".
  2. Minor enhancements to "CloDer.exe" & "CloDer.dll".
  3. I have left "CloDer.exe" & "CloDer.dll" unpacked (previously I used UPX), this should tone down (+-50%) the false positives from "heuristically challenged" anti-virus products.

*Update: Removed useless DropBox links.
Edit (09/Mar/2013):
Added MEGA download Link.

Original Post (19/Nov/2012):

This is my first post on these forums so I'd like to say hi to everyone.

It's worth nothing that I don't play "IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover" (don't judge me, it's just not my type of game).

Anyway, my friend approached me with a issue at the end of last week regarding "Cliffs of Dover", that it was not playable under Windows® 8 so I said to him I'd have a look at it for him (I finally got around to it yesterday evening).

Good news, I have managed to get it working under Windows® 8.
When I say working I mean to the point where the game says "Steam must be running to play Il-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover.", this is a lot better than crashing silently to the Desktop ;) (since I don't actually own the game I will not proceed beyond this point).

I'm just waiting on my friend to get home this evening (GMT+2) to test that the game does in fact run correctly, after he confirms this I'll release the tool to the masses.

Watch this space, hopefully you'll be back up in the sky in a few short hours.

Would make alot of people happy sYk0, I was getting to like my Win7 partition :(

Well, it certainly works OK. Performance is slightly better than Win7, but I think that this would only be the case with BullDozer - THG found no difference using a Core i7.

I've only done some limited testing to confirm it was working before sYk0 released it - a couple of BlackDeath runs and a free flight over Dover. Subjectively it seems a little smoother, with less variation in frame rates (similar to my experience with RoF), but this is probably due to the task scheduler doing a better job than my (patched) version of Win7.

The core allocation appears very different to what I've seen in Win7, which I guess is to be expected. The attached screenie is after completing a run in BlackDeath (reduced for ease of viewing)

ATAG_Colander 11-19-2012 07:29 PM

Just to clarify.
This seems to be a bug from the "software protection" program they used and not a CLOD bug.

broken pixel 11-19-2012 08:06 PM

Awesome work Sky0 & many thanks :-P. Someone should sticky this forum topic in the technical thread.

You are correct, it is a bug with the ".NET Reactor" (or which ever .NET obfuscator is being used) protection (on "maddox.dll"), that doesn't entirely mean it's not a CLOD bug.

The "software protection" bug affects how the application runs ( under Windows® 8 ), therefore it's a bug within the application (be it indirectly).

satchenko 11-19-2012 10:48 PM

Any performance gain with CLOD running in Windows 8?

submarinex1 11-19-2012 11:27 PM

the guy who found the fix for this should be given a free game. nothing from 1c over issue someones fixed who don't even work for them.

roadczar 11-19-2012 11:42 PM

It works! Good job!

broken pixel 11-20-2012 02:26 AM

I'm sure it took no time for him to figure out a fix yet 1C devs would of never even tried to find a solition.

Maybe sky0 could optimize CLOD since 1C has indeed stopped support.

Skoshi Tiger 11-20-2012 07:05 AM

What a cracker of a first post! Even though your not into games like COD, I'm sure the community owes you a big Thank you!

Pitty about the concern with VAC, I play online mostly though off-liners will be fairly happy!

Hopefully with a fix on the table the devs will be able to sneak a micro patch past the been counters for Windows 8 compatability

Cheers! (I don't own windows 8 yet but my brother does and has been frustrated with the lack of COD! Will direct him to your post!)

In all honesty, it didn't take too long to figure out the issue, hopefully the devs catch on and make an official update (however, from what I have read, official support has been suspended/terminated until the next game/add-on release).

Hi Skoshi Tiger, as I have stated in the readme, "CloDer.dll" should be unloaded from memory once the game starts (how Steam will see this is unknown to me, it could detect it as an exploit).
You would have to speak to one of the developers to verify that the game is in fact protected with VAC (or another online protection scheme), if it isn't you (your brother, everyone) should be safe to play online.
Until you get clarification on the above issue I would suggest you don't play online (unless someone goes Kamikaze and tries it out online).

FS~looksharp 11-20-2012 08:03 AM

Thankyou for your effort sir ~S~

I only play online, so I'd love further info on this

Typical modesty from him - it took longer to copy my game file onto his mobile 'phone during a flying visit than it took him to produce a fix.

roadczar 11-20-2012 03:48 PM

And still no reply from developers. Can one of admins forward this thread to 1C?

submarinex1 11-20-2012 06:32 PM

now answer has been found it shouldn't be hard for devs to issue proper fix to their game so vac wouldn't even be issue(if it is) maybe we should get valve to contact sky I am sure there's other things he could fix :)

Whatfor? Development for CloD has stopped for good.

theleif 11-20-2012 10:11 PM

Hate to bring sad news, but it does not work for me. Steam tries to install VC redist package and then nothing. I've copied the files to the COD directory and I've ran CloDer both in normal and admin mode. I've verified files through steam and reapplied the patch, but nothing.
Sadface.

It could be seen as a common courtesy to fix something this critical for their player base. That's what most PC developers (I know of) does. It's not an error that only apply to, say, a certain graphics card, it affects every single Win 8 user, and it only (afaik) affects this one game. That's what most PC developers (I know of) would do.

EDIT: Even if they don't plan to release a patch, they could at least warn about this on steam. I would have liked to know this, as the bug somewhat lessens my enjoyment of the game.

Bigginh 11-20-2012 10:23 PM

Fantastic it works and yes it appears to be allot smoother than Windows 7. Just one thing my engines now appear to be permanently running on the air strip what am I missing:grin:

Thanks again

Well, you "missing" some patchs that remove this feature (probable some script), in Quick Mission and Campaingns...

To "simulate" cold start now you have to create or edit some missiom in FMB.

Installing CloD has a separate issue - this patch is a 'loader' to provide a work-around of a security issue when trying to run the game in Win8. I didn't re-install CloD when moving to Win8 as it is on a second drive. Try mazex's fix here: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...t=30096&page=7

Did that. Get the spinning circle for a second and then nothing. Can it be because I have Steam on another partition and not in program(x86)?

Tried that as well, Steam now skips the "install part" but get the same error as above.

Cheers

EDIT: And I've installed the DirX from the redist folder.

No, but the 'CloDer.exe' and 'CloDer.dll' must be in the same folder as the 'Launcher.exe' (My Steam folder is in D:\Games\). You then click on 'CloDer.exe' to launch the game, but obviously Steam has to be running else you will get that error message

Sounds like you've solved the installation error, and you do need to run the DirectX install, but not doing so shouldn't prevent the game from running.

sYk0 11-21-2012 12:48 PM

@theleif:

Please ensure that you are running "CloDer.exe" and NOT "Launcher.exe" (you shouldn't have to run the application as Administrator, it is not required).

Please ensure that "CloDer.exe" and "CloDer.dll" are both in the same directory (for ease of use, place both files in your Cliffs of Dover directory [same folder as "Launcher.exe"]).

Your Steam installation shouldn't (I'm guessing here) install any of the VC++ 2012 or .NET 4.0 run-times, the ones that come with Windows 8 are newer than the ones required by the game (I will however double check this, if it is the case I will implement a workaround into "CloDer").

Unfortunately, I can't help you any further at the moment but I'll have an in-depth look at your problem a littler later (when I get home).

To aid myself (and the community) in solving your problem please post some additional information:
  1. Windows 8 (Standard or Pro)?
  2. Build number?
  3. System Type (x86 or x64)?
  4. Graphics Driver version?
  5. If possible, please provide some information about your computer hardware.
  6. Have you successfully run Cliffs of Dover on a previous version of Windows (with the same hardware)?

Regards,
sYk0.

@arass, are you positive that after running "CloDer" ( to get Cliffs of Dover running under Windows 8 ) your menus have changed from German to English (or is it possible you are talking about another "fix", perhaps a game update)?

I will be honest here and say that I have only tested "CloDer" with the English version of the game.

Can anyone else (with a locale other than English) confirm arass's findings?

Regards,
sYk0.

ophiuchus 11-21-2012 03:47 PM

First of all, thanks very much for the fix. It works just fine. I have polish version of game, and on W8 Pro (ENG version, but with applied pl language pack) it starts without hesitation, and still in my language. To have things little more complicated my steam location is far from default, as well as location of CLODer, which I have placed in easy to find folder, so I didn't loose it in case of system reinstallation. Using shortcut with added appropriate parameter was the best way to have CLOD working on Windows 8.

FS~looksharp 11-21-2012 05:41 PM

Great news. Gives the game some longevity too as people start upgrading their systems.

On a side note, I observer that it took someone from the community a few days to solve an issue the developers flat out refused to deal with...

Blimey, just imagine how we could collectively bug-fix this game, if only we had the developer's consent....

SlipBall 11-21-2012 10:10 PM

good news

Skoshi Tiger 11-21-2012 10:26 PM

Good news BUT a word of caution. VAC could still be an issue. You may end up being banned in the future. From what I understand it's not immediate.

Cheers!

FS~looksharp 11-21-2012 11:13 PM

You'll find it in the first post of the technical threads above...

Don't know why someone felt the need to move the original post out of plane sight

CARDO BR 11-22-2012 12:15 AM

sYk0, thanks a lot. Game Works fine under Windows 8. Many fans of this game are able to play it now, because you gave us a fix. Just need to say i'm disapointed with de developers. Cant believe they couldn't release a patch to fix the game.

sYk0 11-22-2012 07:43 AM

@FS~looksharp, looks like you have been having some fun online , hopefully your joy is not short lived.

For more information regarding VAC please see the following KB Article:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...7849-Radz-6869

For clarification about "Cliffs of Dover" and "VAC" please see the following:
http://store.steampowered.com/search...der=ASC&page=1
You can see on the product page of the game, it also indicates the game as "Valve Anti-Cheat enabled".

Just to clarify, I gave out the VAC warning as a courtesy, I have no idea how VAC works or the implications of using the Windows 8 fix with a VAC enabled game.
Please exercise caution, I will not be held responsible for any VAC infringements against your Steam account (Kindly note: All VAC bans are permanent).

If you would like clarification regarding the "Windows 8 fix", VAC and "Cliffs of Dover" please submit a support ticket (or post on the forums) to Valve/Steam and ask them, perhaps they could shed some light on the situation.

Sorry for the late reply, but here it goes:
I have both files in the COD directory, in the same folder as launcher.exe.
There is a installation error where COD tries to install VC redist every time I launch the game. That has happened to me in other games, but it has never prevented me from launching a game. Anyway, I've used the workaround in the other thread to stop it from installing every time I launch it.

This is my specs:[*]Win 8 Pro Swedish [*]Build number: 6.2.9200 [*]System Type x64 [*]Graphics drivers are the latest (non beta) 12.10 drivers from AMD [*]My system:
Graphics: Gigabyte Windforce 7970OC (AMD)
Processor: Intel Core i5 3570K
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z77
System disk: Samsung 830 Series MZ-7PC128 128GB
Other disk (where steam are): Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000 HDS723020BLA642 64MB 2TB in IRST mode with a 60 GB OCZ Vertex Plus.
Memory: Corsair 16GB DDR3 1600MHz (4x)
And CoD worked on my previous Win 7 build on the same hardware. I'm pretty sure It worked when I just did an upgrade from 7 to 8 as well, but I'm not 100% certain that was the case. I first made an upgrade instead of a clean install, which went smooth as hell (surprisingly). Decided to do a clean install anyway to start fresh with an new OS.

Cheers.
And thank you for the great job you are doing.
Edit: For some reason it seems to ignore my line breaks after the edit. Sorry for the system spec mess.

The thing that worries me is that the game is insisting you install the c++ 2010 runtimes (this is something that shouldn't be ignored).
After some digging (and a fresh install of Windows 8 x64 in a virtual machine) around I have found out that Windows 8 does in fact require the VC++ 2010 redistributable package to be installed (I assumed that Windows 8 had these by default).

Without the VC++ 2010 runtimes the game silently terminates!

Could you please check your "%windir%\SysWOW64" directory for the existence and version of the following files (these are just a handful of the files I noticed the game requires):
  1. msvcr100.dll : 10.00.40219.1
  2. msvcp100.dll : 10.00.40219.1
  3. msvcr110_clr0400.dll : 11.0.50709.17929
  4. d3d9.dll : 6.2.9200.16384
  5. d3dx9_43.dll : 9.29.952.3111
  6. d3dx10_43.dll : 9.29.952.3111

Legend:
  • Red = Visual C++ 2010 binary.
  • Black = Standard Windows 8 binary.
  • Blue = DirectX binary.

If you are missing (have an older version) some of the red files, please download (and install) the latest VC++ 2010 SP1 (x86) redistributable package from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...s.aspx?id=8328.

If you are missing some of the blue files, please install the DirectX runtimes from the "...\redist\DirectX\" directory.

Regards,
sYk0.

theleif 11-22-2012 03:27 PM

OK. These are the files I have:
msvcr100.dll : 10.00.40219.325
msvcp100.dll : 10.00.40219.325
msvcr110_clr0400.dll : 11.0.50709.17929
d3d9.dll : 6.2.9200.16384
d3dx9_43.dll : 9.29.952.3111
d3dx10_43.dll : 9.29.952.3111
So, I have them all, only difference, the msv files are more recent.
To be sure I did a repair with vcredist, but it validated all files.

Cheers

I scanned it with Malawarebytes - no issues.

sYk0 11-22-2012 06:57 PM

@theleif, do you have Visual Studio (C++ Express) 2010 installed on your PC?
The only info I can find (on msvcr100.dll & msvcp100.dll) that have those version numbers (10.00.40219.325) is from a Visual Studio 2012 Service Pack 1 update.

There seems to be a lot of issues (particularly with games) with that version of the .dll (not sure if it's just coincidence).

Please open up the Command Prompt (as Administrator) and run the System File Checker (you can see the parameter below in bold red), just to be sure no system files have been tampered with.

Nope, only the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable - 10.0.40219 x86 and x64.
It was installed 2012-10-31

Ok, this is what happens:
"Microsoft Windows [Version 6.2.9200]

C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

So there was an error, but it got corrected.

I use Windows Defender that comes with Win 8.

After doing this (verifying and disabling antivirus) I still get the same error.
Sadface.
Thank you for your patience.

@theleif, can you please try the following:
  1. Quit Steam (make sure it's not running in the system tray).
  2. Run "CloDer.exe".
  3. What is the outcome?

Same thing. " spinning wheel for 2 seconds , then nothing.

I'm using Virtu MVP (thereby using the internal graphics card to boost performance of the dedicated card). That has sometimes caused problems with some games, but just disabling it have solved them. However, to be sure I've uninstalled it, but I get the same error anyway, so it seems that is not the culprit.

thank u very much it works great

DoorGunner 11-25-2012 02:12 PM

I sadly have the same problem as theleif. New Laptop, clean Win8 pro installation. As far as I can remember I had some issues with CLOD on my old laptop (win7) too, that prevents it from starting. So maybe its a compatibility problem with the game itself.

Just in case, have created an exception for CloD with your antivirus?

I saw similar issues with the original IL2 until I created an exception for the entire install folder.
I also created an exception for not only the folder but also the .exe file too. This fixed my non-launch issues.

May be worth a try?

Cheers, MP

Unfortunately I can't help if the problem isn't with the Windows 8 fix I made, however if we can figure out the cause of theleif's and DoorGunner's issues that would help too.

@theleif, I send you a Private Message (last week) regarding your issue, if you could please get back to me on that.

Update News: I'll be releasing an update of the fix shortly, it's nothing of great significance but does allow users to start a "Cliffs of Dover" server on their pc's  (I'm sure someone will want sooner or later).

Regards,

hats off to the gentleman who came up with this fix for our game. Gamers have each others back. This fix allows me to play the game now, i can also play the game in fmb as well. However after setting up some triggers The game crashes after a few min. Has any one experience this problem?

peku 11-30-2012 11:23 AM

okay....my game working now...but my joystick not...so where`s the problem.
I have a thrutstmaster hotas warthog....throttle working but joystick not....drivers are update and it working with AC-10 but not in cliffs of dover same thing with IL-2 1946.....so can anyone help???

stuartsomers 11-30-2012 11:48 PM

I can now get the game to run but as soon as it loads into the missions I hear sound and can control the engine, guns etc but it just shows my desktop as the screen...

Thank you, it seems simple, but once done then you take away a little anxiety, I despaired. I like a little play this game and if I do not spend all my free moments, when I play I really appreciate it.
And thanks to you I finally just enjoy it with Windows 8

AbortedMan 12-03-2012 10:01 PM

While this fix is greatly appreciated and was the only reason I finally switched to Windows 8, (thank you), I noticed that the SweetFX FXAA injector/color correction .dll no longer works with Cliffs of Dover.

I have a feeling it's a simple .dll reference in a file somewhere that needs to be changed so that the hook catches the proper .exe...or I could be wrong because I have no idea what I'm talking about. Any chance at taking a look so I can get my awesome colors/FXAA back?

EDIT: Nevermind, silly me...I'd forgotten to disable FRAPS overlay, which is incompatible with FXAA injectors. All is working well.

Also doesn't give false positives and take no dedicated RAM

I have the same problem with AVIRA free antivirus, but also with GDATA which is not a free antivirus. In both cases, Trojan malware is detected. When you look at Readme file joined to the .dll and .exe, sYk0 warns us that it is possible to have such reaction from antivirus.
Today, I use IL2 COD under Windows 7 (a dedicated disk!), but I would prefer to have everything under Windows 8.
May be sYk0 can explain to us why we have such problems with antivirus programs?

donfrodini 12-12-2012 09:48 PM

I am also struggling to load this game in Windows 8, i tried this fix but antivirus just automatically deletes it as soon as i extract it from the folder (Norton 360) don't even have the option of telling it to ignore it :\

I would also like to know why it causes our antivirus applications to go crazy??

Also if anybody knows how to allow the file in Norton 360 i cant find the option anywhere in the settings

BillW71 12-18-2012 06:47 PM

Well, I was really looking forward to this working but I still get the same results. I load Steam, press Play Il-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover and wait, just to find out that it still never loads. Any other ideas someone might have? like maybe a security issue that I don't know about.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

1st uninstall the virus software unless you browse porn sites all the time. Virus software is really all hype and not needed for the average user. Norton is killing the file because it thinks it is harmful aka a false positive.

Dont be scared NOT to use anti crap software. You would be better off using malware bytes software only if you need that extra feeling of PC protection.

Go to page one and download the cloder program. Disable or uninstall anti virus software. Unzip to a folder open cloder.exe, point it to the il2 cod .exe in the steam folder and it will launch under windows 8.

broken pixel 12-18-2012 07:35 PM

For all you anti virus junkies!

Definition:
False positives occur when a pattern of code in the file matches the same pattern contained in a virus signature. This can occur due to a faulty signature or it can occur after improper disinfection by the same or different antivirus scanner.

False positives can be more than just annoying. Repeated warnings that are erroneous cause the same effect as the boy who cried wolf. If too many false positives occur, when a legitimate warning is presented, users may disregard it. In other cases, a false positive can cause legitimate files to be deleted, causing the operating system or program to no longer function properly.

If your antivirus scanner says a file is clean that you believe is actually infected, here are six steps to determine if a virus alert is legitimate.

Some users claim that behavior blocking results in too many false positives. In fact, the very nature of behavioral analysis is to prevent any unauthorized modifications to key system areas. In the case of behavior blocking, the prompting for user input is a desireable occurance and should not be categorized as a false positive.

I don't mean to sound like an idiot but, I didn't understand a word you said lol
I unzipped it to my Downloads folder, Opened up Steam>Steam Apps>Common>IL 2 Cliff of Dover and placed the 2 files in there.

If that's what you mean by "point it to the il2 cod .exe in the steam folder" then I've done it.

I turned off my Firewall, Virus Protection and the Spyware Protection. I think I've pretty much done everything it takes to run the game with the new patch, but I must be missing something if it still don't run.

broken pixel 12-18-2012 08:02 PM

Have you gone here and read the 1st page of this thread?

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=36078

It is not a patch and does not go into the il2 clod folder.

Download sky's fix called cloder, once the file finishes open it with either zip or rar. Make a folder on your desktop extract the cloder.zip files to your new folder.

Open up the folder you created with the extracted cloder files and double click the cloder exe. It will open a window and want you to navigate to the actual il2 cod .exe file located in steam/steam apps/common/

Once cloder has been told what exe to launch it should launch the game. There is also a read me file that sky included with his fix.

First off, I'd like to thank you for the walk through broken pixel.
Second, I still can't get it to run after doing what you said step by step. I'ts gotta be something I'm missing. I did everything you said and for some odd reason it's not running. it was supposed to be pointed to "steam/steam apps/common/" then the launcher for the game correct?

If so I still can't get the game to go.

Sure thing Bill I will check my puter when I get home and see what we can do to get your IL2 COD running within windows 8. No more 7 for me lol!

@donfrodini,

You can add files and/or folders to your anti-virus white-list, please see the help document that accompanies your anti-virus product for instructions on how to do this.

You can also temporarily disable your anti-virus product in order to extract files from the archive, again see the help documentation that accompanies your anti-virus product.

Originally Posted by donfrodini (Post 487542)

Anti-virus products implement a technique they call a "Heuristic Virus Detection".

Please see this article for more information.

The sweet and short version:
Quote:

The main essence of each method is to analyze the suspicious file’s characteristics and behavior to determine if it is indeed malware.
Quote:

The main concern with heuristic detection is that it often increases false positives. False positives are when the antivirus software determines a file is malicious (and quarantines or deletes it) when in reality it is perfectly fine and/or desired. Because some files may look like viruses but really aren’t, they are restricted and stopped from working on your computer.
Due to the nature of my fix (it changes another processes code in memory, somewhat "virus-like") some anti-virus products will see this as malicious.

If you really don't trust the fix, don't use it (no one is forcing you), simple as that.
You could also take the time to read the comments from various other members of this forum on the joys they are having with the fix.

Regards,
sYk0.

@BillW71,

There are a number of ways to get the fix working, you are using one of the (three) methods.

You can put the two (.exe and .dll) files into your "il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" folder, just make sure they are in the same directory as "Launcher.exe".

After placing the files in your "il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" folder you must execute (run) "CloDer.exe" (DO NOT run the game from Steam, this will not work [it bypasses the fix]).

Another Method (as broken pixel was trying to explain).

Extract the archive ("CloDer_v0.0.0.1.7z" or "CloDer_v0.0.0.1.zip") to a new folder on your PC (I'll use "C:\Downloads\CloDer\").

Go to the folder where you extracted the files (in my case "C:\Downloads\CloDer\"), locate and run the file "CloDer.exe".

Unlike the first scenario (above), "CloDer.exe" won't find "Launcher.exe" (therefore can't run it automatically) and will ask you to locate it (the "Open File" dialog will pop up), simply use the dialog to locate "Launcher.exe" in your "il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" folder.

*Note: Steam must be running (in the background) in order to play the game.

Hope you get it running.

sYk0.

Your fix works very well, thank you. I have extracted files in IL2 folder (not the original one under Steam, but a copy in c:\Program Files (x86)). Just a remark : I must execute cloder.exe in administrator mode, otherwise nothing happens, is it due to the fact that I work with a copied directory?
I have also a problem when trying to play a mission created by mission builder, but it may be a quite different problem
//Regards.

I tryied to download the file cloder.zip but seems the link is broken or something like that. Can anyone re-upload the file please ? :)
EDIT: fixed that. Dont know why, but my antivirus blocked the download. When i disable it, i was able to download the file... anyway my avira antivirus keep trying to delete that files, very annoying, need to setup it

Excuse me if it has already been answered, but I'd ask if anybody knows how to get mods to work, once using the W8 trick (which works just fine here, by the way).
Thanks in advance!

zahnartz62 12-31-2012 09:46 PM

CloDer works very well..but..I had to exit Trend Micro which say CloDr.exe has a Trojan. I clicked DloDer.exe in common\Il2-strurmovik cliffs of dover and it launched nicely. It does not open from the desktop icon for me. I went back to C drive etc and clicked CloDer.exe and CoD opened nicely. FYI..I show you mine etc etc

CARDO BR 12-31-2012 10:26 PM

I "fixed" the issue with Mcafee vírus detection disabling active protection. So antivírus is still working, but dont block CLODER.DLL. Verify your antivírus program to check if there is a option to avoid advanced detection.

zahnartz62 01-01-2013 12:18 AM

Thought I nailed it but Trend Micro is nailing me. I will try to contact them. Adding CloDer.exe to exception list does not work. Nuts!! I was so happy to be back in my Bf 110.

Windows 8 Fix works - but some control problems

Hi,

thanks a lot for the Windws 8 Fix. ClOD now works on my PC.

One problem remains: while the joystick is working fine, other controls (e.f. ctrl-E for bailing out) are not working. Changes to the control settings are accepted and stored by the program, but show no effect when flying.

Can somebody help? Thanks!

Jochen1212

zahnartz62 01-05-2013 01:58 AM

I redid my settings profile today. Thanks to "logon software" I was able to launch CoD and get into my Bf 110 but controls did not work. I installed 8 a few days ago and it has affected RoF as well on my PC. The settings had lost specific attachment to my joystick and it was a simple matter to reset it.

Can't get it to work

Copied both files across and when I run the required file it says that it cannot locate the dll file. Tearing my hair out as I just received my new fully speced up alienware x51 and the god damn game won't work. Really cheesed off. I really wish company's would test software with other software before they release stuff quick to take your money but not willing to support. Rant over, can any one please helpe get it working as I have followed the read me file and its still not working. Thanks

TonyD 01-12-2013 10:50 AM

Hi Meagachilli

I’d like to help if I can, but I’d need to know a bit more about what is not working. No need to get cheesed off – this game was written long before Win8 was released, and the problem is a simple security issue that is circumvented by sYk0’s loader. There won’t be any fix from the developers as they no longer exist, so your ‘rant’ won’t be heard :)

Did all the files extract correctly? Some AV’s detect the modified dll as a possible Trojan – MSE correctly didn’t. You only need two files from the archive; ‘CloDer.dll’ and ‘CloDer.exe’, and they should placed be in the same folder. For convenience mine are in the same folder as the ‘Launcher.exe’, but this isn’t necessary if you would prefer them elsewhere. Steam needs to be running (obviously), and then you click on ‘CloDer.exe’ to launch the game, not the shortcut in Steam. Apparently some AV’s prevent this, so you may need to add the files to your AV’s exclusion list (again, MSE had no problem with them).

We can do this by PM if you would prefer, but solving it here may benefit someone else.
