Sword of Equilibrium and Selmy Boros Quest

What's the stats of the sword of light and darkness? Who I must kill to have acess to each (I rarely got this sword in KBTL)?

When given the quest to kill Selmy Boros (the rebel) by Captain Renli you have three choices, that will lead to two different missions:
-Warn the rebel. Reward: 100 leadership,3 of each runes and 153 exp
- Kill the rebel. Reward: 2500 gold and 153 exp

What's the best option (apparently it seems to be warn the rebel)?

Obviously warn the rebel. He sell items and human armies. At some point his shop will be the retreat place for Iron Richard ( from Arlania) and many human troops will be available here.

I was doubtful because of the medal headhunter

Without even considering the fact you can buy stuff afterwards, 100 leadership + 3x3 runes is so much better that 2500 gold it's not funny.

Warn the rebel. You'll get headhunter anyway.
But wasn't it 1 of each rune?

ckdamascus 11-13-2012 12:20 PM

Argh, I didn't even know I had the option not to kill him! :(

Apparently, you are a bloodthirsty monster and picked the "I'm gonna kill him" answer as soon as it was available when talking to Renly ;)
(instead of the "everyone should be free to live the life he wants" option)

Ugh. I thought that option made the quest undoable.

Same.

The dialogue options are bad. You should have the option to decide what to do when you talk to the guy.

Thanks.

About the sword. If I choose light can i return it to darkness? What's the stats? and what i must kill to get each one?

But I don't know if you accept the quest (it is 1st in the line) can you later still do the quest which gives access to a ship or you will have to wait until you return from Demonis and give the last artifact to Gilford.

another quest with two options, "elementals against experiments" in hades. Which way is better?

Just for testing purposes, I tried killing the elemental. There was no special reward for that, so I reloaded and picked the other option (haven't killed him yet, though).

Were you able to buy items from the guy?

I saved the elemental, but I can't quite remember what else I got. I think I recall it was a good choice though. He doesn't stay as a shopkeeper though.

I'm more interested/worried if the "mage" turns into a shop keeper.

No, he just says he is busy if you talk to him afterwards (just had another check, since I did not remember... luckily, there was a savegame left not too long before the point)

edit: the fire elemental gave me three magic runes and a summon phoenix scroll. So pick the fire elemental ;-) (now again I'm not 100% sure that Arkton did not give me runes, but pretty sure)

Because for most part of the game you have to skill a massive amount of undead so Sword of Light seems to be better.
SoL give +10Att during day, +7 in the evening and 5 at night and -20% Def of undead and demon too.

I think the outcome is pretty much the same, but you get a different title based on your choice.

It's morale goes up by 5 when you fight undead or demon armies, down by 5 when you fight humans, elves or dwarves (not sure how it reacts to orcs and vikings). When it reaches 100 it becomes light, when it reaches 0 it becomes dark. If memory serves, this continues with the new version, so if you kill many undeads with the sword of darkness it goes neutral/equilibrium again.

Light: +10 Att during the day, +7 in the evening and +5 at night, -20% Def for undead, demon, orcs, lizardmen
Dark: +10 Att at night, +7 in the evening and +5 during the day, +20% Def for undead, demon, orcs, lizardmen

Or something along those lines.

Given how many undead you fight (including the final battles), Light is not only the easier option, but also the better. Darkness is only interesting if you want to play with a demon or undead army.

Edit: Just got the sword of light ingame, it has been changed slightly. the def effect also applies to lizardmen and orcs now. Presumably this goes for morale change aswell, so its the same good/evil split as Power of Light / Power of Night.

oas 11-17-2012 05:16 PM

Thanks. I thought that after going light i couldn't have darkness (i'm planning using demons later on)

DennisBergkamp 11-18-2012 03:58 AM

This quest seems bugged for me, I think I can only attack Selmy Boros (I don't have the option to warn him). Unless I'm doing something wrong?

You must pay attention at the dialogue when you get the quest.( choose option " something something everyone is free")

oas 11-20-2012 09:15 AM

I have Sword of Light but now i can't lower the morale. Is that normal??

After/ during demonis which sword is better (i'm planning on using demon army)?

By the way, after the mines on the islands, where is the bird of hapiness?

Does not exist, it was a trick of that dragon to lure people into mines.

Same here, I thought it was strange. So the dialog was with the quest giver, not with Selmy Boros? Oh well. I may restart anyway since being unable to scroll my inventory is driving me crazy.

Its a weird way of handling it for sure. In fact, if you choose that dialogue option you simply get a different quest (Warn the rebel).

Anyone was able to change the Sword of Light to Darkness after going to 100%?

I never tried. I don't see why it couldn't. You'd have to kill all the "good armies" before you become allies with them though. Not sure if there is enough cannon fodder to do that though! :)
