does the SLI poll requested by B6 mean that they are working on it?
I have asked B6 several times about SLI.
It is "funny" that he is asking US about it before giving us a single word on the matter. Quid pro quo, my dear Black6, quid pro quo... |
Probably he's trying to establish the priority level for this issue.
I think the Steam survey does not offer this data... also almost certainly global Steam statistics would be quite different, at this time we have a 27%+ of SLI/Crossfire users for CoD players, which i think is really high. |

This poll is my personal interest which appeared after statement "Many users have SLI and Crossfire systems". GraveyardJimmy, thanks. |
You can surely forgive us being a little untrusting though Black Six after Luthier's continued excuses for SLI not working correctly over the years.
|
it mean that maybe they're searching for a reason to remove the problem. After a year of work they're probably unable to solve the sli problem, so they're maybe trying to hide themselves behind a low percentage of sli owners. After a year that we're talking about this problem suggesting people to buy a single powerfull card.

S!
I bet CoD is not the only game out there with problems when using SLI or CrossFire. Seems to be more trouble than worth. |
I have never used SLI or crossfire in a game, although the last 2 motherboards I have had have been capable.
More trouble than its worth for me, I would be better off with a good single card. For triple screens etc I can see a reason. |
This is the first build I have done with a Sli capable M/B. Sure there are some problems with C.o.D. and Sli/Crossfire but that doesn't mean they aren't good systems. A lot of other programs work very well with multi card setups (Il2 1946 for one). Ok I can hear it already,"but 1946 is OGL not DX" so what, there are a lot, no most of the hardware manufacturers are proceeding with multi card options. Why would they do this if they considered it was a failing system. I have been trying to get the best from my Sli that I can by trying different things and find it is working reasonably well for me. Sure I have some micro stutters when looking down or near the ground but so are a lot of single card users. Sli is giving me better performance with less stress on my graphics cards. Even a lot of us who are single card users are complaining about performance so they are throwing more and more money into their systems to try and get it right. There are a major part of the supporters of this sim who can't afford to put thousands of dollars into an upgrade for C.o.D. and they shoudn't have to. Come on team do the right thing by the public that are supporting you and give us the performance that was promised, or see sales of the sequel not reach the levels you hope for.

I have no problems with SLI outside COD....I hope they get it fixed.
|
From the looks of it, almost 30% of the players have multi gpu setup. That's a lot, specially when you think that many players didn't bother getting SLI/Xfire, because the game doesn't suport it.
I have no problems runing sli in many games. It has it's advantages and it's a cheap way to boost the GPU performance without throwing away your older card. I'm not holding my breath tho. We've heared the exct same excuses since relese: ..."our game is sli compatible, we wait for next Nvidia driver to implement it." We've been told this multiple times. It's not going to happen before next paid release, if ever. |

Oh wait! There is....playing on four screens! :) or, maybe many screens? ;) http://grathos.de/temp/Multiple_Monitors.jpg ~S~ |
Will 1C try to sell BOM without SLI / CROSSFIRE support ? such a couragous decision!
I'm amazed the graphics rewrite didn't include multicard support. This is getting very sad .. . |

Certainly hope so Chivas, 17 months is a long time to wait after Luthier stated Sli was their next big priority. Now they are asking for a poll to see how many of us are using Sli/Crossfire. If they are going to finally get Sli up and running then Crossfire has to be also in the mix for those with Radeon cards.
Edit: - Oops, failed to read the poll properly, there is a Crossfire poll. |
Comparing a single 580 and 580 SLI ;
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/584?vs=517 SLI definitely makes a difference. . |

Fixing C.o.D. doesn't seem any longer to be their no 1 priority, Luthier I think it was in one of his statements said that the majority of the team are working on the sequel. That being the case I think we won't see any improvement in the Sli/Crossfire problem that was promised until the sequel is just about done, which means no Sli/Crossfire until the new graphics engine is ready, or they could release the current one to Nvidia/ AMD for Sli/Crossfire support if the sequel is going to be possibly 12 months away. Maybe then let any further development come with the sequel.
The other thing to remember is this poll only reflects the votes of registered members of this forum, what about Sli/Crossfire users that are on other forums that aren't members here. Near 30% users is a large count and others may go multi card if the support was here, it certainly has its advantages. I ceryainly wouldn't build any system now without a multi card support m/b. |
