US Expansions
 

I really enjoy playing Fantasy Wars and was noticing that there were a couple of expansions out or in the works. Is there any word if or when they might be out in the US?

this seems to be a confusing subject but i'll try to answer it. there is already an expansion out in Russia and they are working on the sequel-FW 2. the US will get the expansion content with the sequel instead of as a stand alone addition to FW 1. there are also several other expansions planned that i can only assume will require the sequel FW 2. i dont know about the timeline on all of this but i seem to recall reading that the sequel will be released in the US in 2009. it would be nice to get some clarification but 1C seems to be reluctant to discuss this issue at the present time.

still nothing new about Fantasy Wars & the sequels/expansions.

i would assume that 1C is busy with Kings Bounty & Majesty 2 so perhaps FW is not their top priority at the moment.

We did not forget about the sequel to Fantasy Wars. The game is in development. Expect some news on this topic soon.

It's going to be a full sequel, not just add-on. But I don't have official info yet. As soon as I get it, I'll post all the details.

So the sequel being Elven Legacy, what about the expansions for FW that came out for the Russian version, namely 'Siege' and 'Magic' (according to BabelFish anyway) and I believe there was a third. Are these packaged with the UK version of Elven Legacy or will they released separately or at all?

They aren't in the US release although they are named in the Campaigns.script file. Ranger is the other one.

So looks like we aren't going to get them then? I presume this will be the same for the UK release (which is where I am btw). Damn, all the stuff that comes outta mainstream US/UK are just mediocre eye-candy trash these days. Games like FW might not be original but at least it's waaaaaay better than the generic crap the big mainstream companies put out, Oooo another shooter which tries to claim it features are new and innovative despite the fact they are just recycled from their (or someone else's) bland <insert genre> fps/3ps.

Damn, come on, pleeeeease give us the FW expansions!!!

These expansions are only for Russian market, they will be never released in US or Europe. Elven Legacy contains most of improvements from them.

If you wont release the expansions, maybe you can make the maps in them available to us for free? Then we can translate them with google translator (or something)..

I just want more maps to play. ;)

Yet ANOTHER great foreign turn based game (e.g. DAI SENRYAKU) that isn't fully supported for the US/UK market.

We get a taste of the great game and have to suffer knowing that unless we are proficient in a foreign language we just have to settle for the HOLLYWOOD PC games that have infected and taken over the US/UK markets.

If the game doesn't have special effects (e.g. EYE POPPING graphics) or isn't a shooter or REAL TIME (e.g. click fest) STRATEGY game then the ADD, AD/HD, phone texting, microwave cooking gamers aren't even going to try the game. Unfortunately that is 90% of the US/UK markets.

Therefore true strategy US/UK strategy gamers must be content with the occasional appetizer portion strategy games while our foreign brethren are served full courses.

That being said...Looking forward to the Elven Expansion!

(AND don't mention the bug riddled CIV editions. Civ II and Alpha Centauri was the apex of that series)
