Thanks for the look: I learned something! (The manual gear extension).

Wasn't the gear extension always manual on the Spit in real life, btw? I remember reading about pilots that were porpoising during take-off because the held the stick with one hand and turned the u/c wheel with the other...

jf1981 02-11-2012 11:48 AM

Yes I think that was on early models. Both Spit / Hurri had hydraulic gear systems which works with the engine later on.

I love informational videos like this dealing with CEM. I learn something new every time!

Great stuff - we need more stuff like this to drag new players into this game!

Hi

I'm pleased you find it interesting.

Next time I'll record about

- 3 point landing
- Emergency landing
- Mixture control
- Low speed stall, high speed, spin

It may be pretty simple & short. Yet if you've anything be dealt with let me know.

With a thought for Soren, I'll try to make it much more artistic this time ;)

See you.

First video : the basis of aircraft, instruments & systems.
If it does'nt work, activate the annotations. There are some along the vid.
Sorry if it's a bit dark since, I flew early in the morning.

Thank you very much.

Regards.

Just a little suggestion, in real life (although you can do it in game) the Hurricane Mk.I could not start it's engine on the main fuel tank. It had to be switched to the reserve (or gravity) tank as the fuel pumps did not run until the engine had started.

JG5_emil 02-12-2012 05:05 PM

Really well done!!

I love the way you've done that video with the ability to hover over boxes etc.

Also a voice over is always useful.

I shall bookmark this one for one of my rare adventures in a hurricane

I'll cover all aircrafts. I'm learing a lot of stuff too doing so :-)

kestrel79 02-12-2012 05:58 PM

Yeah I need a video on landing. I'm horrible.

Thank you for your efforts to help others enjoy CEM...possibly earning a sticky position for the thread one day:)

Interesting! - Didn't know that.

It's not a widely known fact granted. A lot of trainee pilots would forget to switch back to the main tanks after take off and end up running out of fuel rather quickly, this was known as a "gravity charlie". In the Hurricane Mk.II this was rectified and you could start the engine on main tanks. I think what has happened, the dev team has got hold of the Hurricane Mk.II pilot notes and thought this was how it was for the Mk.I. The Mk.I notes are rarer than hens teeth!

I uploaded the last videos of this thread since we now have finished for the Hawker Hurricane.

Those videos deal with universal things and other threads will be opened with new chapters including dogfight and other aircrafts too.

Thanks for your comments & See you mid-air.
