Steve Jobs just passed away.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs died today at the age of 55. just right after the release of iPhone 4s yesterday...
He will be remembered for the most beautiful pieces of technologies he brought to the world. http://www.apple.com :( |
A giant and innovator gone .............. sad he will be missed. An innovator in his early years but when he came back to Apple from Pixar he definately re-invigorated the company. Mobile phones and tablets had been around for years before Apple got on the band wagon and MADE those products the must have products that everybody had to have through really slick marketing and advertising!! A great man gone ................... My thoughts go to his family

That sucks.. the guy will be missed |

Sad to lose someone so young though... |
Poor man. Invested so much time and energy into the company and then such a fate...
|
Poor guy, very sad to go out like this.
|
Hows that song go?
Ding dong the witch is dead... |
Steve Jobs was brilliant..
I was shocked as he was so young.. Don't take it for granted fellas.. Live it for all it's worth.. mike |
He never got to experience CloD in full bloom. ;-)
|
A very sad day
He was a very tough boss and a despot (note Ilya). Though what he achieved for the IT world will always be remembered.

A man dies and it is terrible.
A million dies and we do not care! A stupid gadget is more important than people loosing their home ore their jobs? This is not the place to discus this or to pay tribute to this man good or bad. |
Feel sorry for his family. On the other hand, why were there no mention of all those Chinese factory workers at Foxconn (component supplier for Apple) who were driven to suicide thanks to the awful working conditions? Guess some people are more important than others....

Having said this, your rethoric of "one man vs million men" is a bit out of place for an obituary thread, don't you think? As for the place, I agree, I started a thread in the Off Topic section, but please, let's have some respect. |
I find it interesting that there is a thread about Steve Jobs passing, to me it shows just how many people respected what he had accomplished.
Sternjaeger: This was a nice thread to start, but I think you should have known this was just going to be another flame war on this forum. Very little respect is shown to anyone here, living or dead. -- posting this from my mac. |
RIP Steve Jobs & Bert Jansch.
|
If he had any sense of humor, his grave would say iDied.
he left a mark on earth, and will be remenber long gone. RIP. |
Well I guess you can jump the organ transplant line and "Buy" a liver, but not so with a pancreas. Even money has its limitations. Horrible disease, and horrible way to die, but not getting any adoration from me, or at least any more sympathy than anyone else who has passed away.
He made popular electronics for people who enjoy overspending. |
This news has made me very sad! In a great part Steve's inventive genius provided me with the best time of my working life and a good income.

Actually I never liked much the philosophy behind the iGadget things as it is definitely a completely closed universe and not open (one reason why I don't have anything with the fruit logo on it). But one has to recognize a genious in his domain and for me iSteve was surely one. So hats off and tribute to an innovative and creative spirit now gone and gone with him other great ideas that he might have had had he just lived longer.
PS: I just love the proposal of grave tomb inscription "iDied". I am sure Jobs would have loved that too. |
I will refrain from my usual anti-apple ranting, it is sad to hear of someone going before their time. Closer to my heart though;
R.I.P. Graham Dilley http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011...am-dilley-dies R.I.P. to the other 100K folks who died yesterday also. |
Never knew the bloke but felt sad today.. Always a terrible waste for someone like this to go so young!
|
I've just learnt that Tim Berners Lee invented and coded the WWW on a Next computer. Another "small" contribution to the world as we know it.
|
It's frankly shocking how some people have no sense of respect and need to hijack a serious thread with their agendas..
I really think it's true when they say the internet takes the worst out of us :-( |
21,000 Children died all over the world that day, as they did today, and as they will tomorrow. But they didn't use near-slave labour to build mp3 players, so who cares about them.
A RICH WHITE MAN DIED! Everyone stop what they are doing and feel sad! |
Good riddance....its amazing the sympathy this guy gets for running a business where slave labor is used, in fact conditions are so appealing there is a problem with suicides at apple factories....while at the same time lecturing us about making sacrifices for the environment and the poor...what a joke and a hypocrite....

live every day like its your last....
just wish i could afford to... but he's right... the guy had balls... no question... |
I'm sorry guys, but your home-made morality is is laughable.
Don't you buy stuff made by the same poor slaves you mentioned, in fact feeding that industry? Steve Jobs was a true innovator, a genius that introduced a new approach to IT that others copied but struggled to deliver. He was also a human being, so surely he wasn't perfect, but his visionary approach inspired a technology leap that can't be dismissed as "little toys", people that do that are like the bigots who laughed at Montgolfier or Wright brothers. If you understand this then you understand what his loss means, otherwise there's really no point. Whichever the case, have some respect and go post somewhere else. |

Rest in piece Steve ! P.S.: A true innovator........ ;) |
Sammi79 hit the nail on the head!
Steve is in the 0.1% of the richest people in the world and has given nothing back. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are real innovators who have pledged to give billions of dollars they do not need to help make the world a better place. |
As I mentioned before, it's probably a tough time for his family and friends (real ones that is). Was he innovative? For sure! Nobody had come up with the idea for selling computers/home electronics for at least twice as much as their competitors before.
Seriously though, Apple has always overcharged for their products but at least in the 90's when I bought my PowerMac G3 (beige) for 1800€ (without a monitor) one could at least say that the hardware/software was proprietary. Now the hardware is the same as any other run of the mill PC but they are still overcharging for it, no wonder they're making boatloads of money. The macs these days are over-priced PC's with inferior hardware and Linux as OS, well built? yes! Worth the price tag? IMO never. |

maybe you should be a slave and see how good it is, maybe when you figure out that slavery is not good, maybe then you will figure it out...well you already seem to be a slave since you cant seem to think for yourself and you seem to think that using slave labor is normal, or acceptable....why dont you go to M4T where the retards there seem to think that using slavery is acceptable and does not reflect on steve jobs.... how is exposing and speaking out against slavery "homemade morality'...i guess the northern states were wrong to oppose the south and its policy of enslaving other men....i guess the south was right in defend its "right' to own slaves....what a joke...go learn some history maybe then you will figure out why slavery is bad....1 because it is not in the spirit of freedom and 2 because it ruins economies, and takes away jobs from people who would other wise receive payment for said job.....i mean i guess having a business where suicide is a growing problem is a noble thing...i guess it has nothing to do with the conditions you impose on your workers.... seriously you people are the joke...keep revering these men who used slavery to acquire their wealth...one day when you are the slave you wont be so excited about it....but i guess cuz this is happening in china it dosent matter or is ok....out of sight out of mind eh....talk about small minded...you people are garbage.... |

It's shocking to see how you really believe in the philanthropic machine set up by Gates, who's a $59 billion man, as opposed to Jobs, who was "only" $8 billion, and according to many sources did a lot of charity donations without the glam of Gates and his wife.. Uh and regarding all the accusations of slave labour, welcome to the world of capitalism.. Do you really think they had an agenda for slave labour, or that Microsoft didn't receive similar allegations? You wise guys remind me of this genius here: http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg640/sca...=640&ysize=640 |

All these anti Apple hipsters make me laugh. Without Apple , you would just have vanilla phones and boring tablets. Apple changed the way we do things and set the standard on how things look.
By the way , if you think you are cool by not owning a Apple product but have an Andriod phone you have another thing coming. An Andriod phone with google knows more about you then you know about yourself. |

I don't believe in Gates philanthropic machine, but I do believe in his verified donations to charity as well as publicly speaking out about issues that effect us all and are obviously important to him, so according to your many sources... link please. And those links you did post? well they all imply that he gave nothing to charity. Honestly, Bono and a Hedge fund manager? I have been bombarded today by many people expressing their blind love for Jobs and his empire, every single forum I look at has an identical post, facebook no less than 7 friends etc... Apples marketing dept. really did a number on a lot of folks huh? get things in perspective. Or alternatively just insult us 'wise guys' if it makes you feel better. Flame me all you want, go on, prove to me that you were sold on that iCrap, Hook, line and sinker. My views on Apple and their products are based on personal experience, not bigoted prejudice. edited. |
