Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion (revisiting an old favourite)
Falcon 4.0: Allied Force (never played Falcon 4 before but picked this one up second hand, wanna see what the dynamic campaign is like :))
Silent Hunter 3 (revisiting)

Wanna add also that I'm really interested in DCS: A-10 but I'm not sure. Seems so complicated which is ok if there's reward. What's your opinions on A-10? Exactly how steep is the learning curve and is it really really rewarding? Your input is appreciated :).

FSX...graphics are a bit dated but I enjoy the range of planes and missions.

I've tried ROF a few times but the AI of the planes seems very repetitive with the endless spirals up and down and up and down and up and down...

-Arma 2
-ROF (Career rocks!)
-A-10C
-Waiting that someone develop a mix between minecraft and dwarf fortress

Just bought more 14 games on steam summer sale... but can't play it now... damn college, taking half of my time (other half as trainee).

TUSA/TX-Gunslinger 07-27-2011 07:16 PM

I have to admit I'm in sim "burnout" mode. Happens to me every 3 years or so. I'll be back to CoD soon but in the meantime I'm addicted to:

World of Tanks :)

My nephew and some local coworkers play this quite a bit. It's very low maintence - but I must admit costly. It's my first experience with a MMO type game.

I've been hearing for years from folks who hope the Flight Sim genre moves on to this type of business - but I must say after looking at my wallet - I am fearfull.

To give you an example, I own every aircraft in RoF - which has cost me more than I ever paid for Il2 series, over the years.

In the last two months with WoT - I've spent almost as much as I have buying aircraft in RoF.

Kinda scary.....

There is a free version of ArmA2 available for download. Not sure if it is enough to run PR though.

Iron Front is a standalone game in WWII setting using ArmA2 engine.

no its not enough. you need ARMA combined ops at least, as the game uses primarily the second addon textures and buildings, and the first original game weapons.

i read somewhere that iron front was a strategy game on ARMA engine

Haha, same mate

I Started Gaming online playing Ghost recon/Medal of honor but the clan i was in was primarily Ghost Recon..

I remember when Raven was just about to be released and the hype it got but for some reason we didnt switch to it though we tried it

So easy back then to start matches to... IGS was the league, Gamespy was the meeting place...happy days

Lol i remember my mate saying to me, dial up using yer modem and come and play with the boys from work in Medal of Honor...My life and relationships changed from that point me thinks

well IF i was playing other games atm... it would be

Hello all...

I have many MANY games which i usually buy and then leave to gather dust on my 'shelf'...

so i shall play it like this...

Games recently purchased:
- F.3.A.R (played 15mins worth)

Games i really should play and complete:
- Crysis 2 (half way through i think)
- Metro 2033 (couple hours in)
- homefront (completed)
- Shogun total war 2 (not installed)
- Killzone 3 (PS3 - uh played 15min worth i think)
- Call of Duty Black ops... (PS3 - played some online, around the 20's area - not played single campaign)
- Medal of honor (need to complete single player)
- and many more titles from the 2009/2010 which ive probably "left behind" or not touched...

Before i got back onto Clod... i was catching up on some ps3 games inc Resistance 2 (completed), Wings of Prey (sh#####t on consoles) and Tom clancys end war (meh... its ok)

If only i didnt have to work and balance my spare time with the gf ;)

Orpheus 07-28-2011 03:56 PM

Eve, a heavily modded Silent Hunter 5 (and 4) and a bit of TF2. Given up on CloD completely tbh.

Hecke 07-28-2011 04:25 PM

Left 4 Dead 2 (OMG, this is the game I played the most in my gaming career. 360h since release in November 2009, might not be much to other nerds but still a lot to me)
Arma 2 CO on PVP server (DAO)

R6 Vegas 2 (XBOX 360) in Split Screen Coop with a friend

No CLOD at all

Flanker35M 07-28-2011 04:34 PM

S!

World Of Tanks mainly. EVE Online but now just skilling until autumn hits with crap weather so I have more time to be there in the fleets. Various titles here and there like RoF, A-10C etc.

World of Tanks
Conan Unchained
Theatre of War2:Africa
IL-2 1946 w/UP3.0

Anyone planning on buying Rage? (New game by id Software.) I should have added it to my list.
It looks like it's going to rock.

Bakelit 07-28-2011 09:28 PM

BoB Wings of Victory from A2A - when I really want to experience the extent of the BoB air battles

Il2 1946 from 1C - still the biggest aircraft selection ever

Rise of Flight from 777 - love the WW1 aircraft graphics and effects there

Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy from Battlefront - best small unit ww2 wargame in my opinion

I hope one day I can include CoD into the list of my played games ...

palker4 07-28-2011 09:40 PM

Team Fortress 2 --> FREE on Steam
Fallout New Vegas
IL2 1946
Pirates Vikings and Knights also free

SacaSoh 07-28-2011 11:16 PM

Guys, sorry to be a little off-topic: do you think that a PS3 is worth just for the exclusive games (and i don't have a bluray player)? MGS4, uncharted, Little Big Planet (looks awesome), etc? If i buy it will share the same LCD as the PC.

Thanks!

FS~Phat 07-29-2011 02:48 AM

Wing Commander IV and Prophecy
(ahh that takes me back to when gameplay and story telling was king - the most immersive combat SIM series ever! Just imagine how mind blowing COD could be with the character development and interaction we had with the WC universe with a similar narrative story telling style with cut scenes. I love jumping into system and preparing for a run at a capital ship in a bomber with escort)

Evochron Mercenary (Starwraith games space combat - just came across this last week, cross between X3 and WC without the complexity of X3)

1946 (mostly just various user campaign addons now)

ROF (though actually finding it hard to really get into it)

DCS A-10 (still learning this one)

Wings of Prey (great for a quick no fuss fun DF with eye candy)

BOBII (yep still love the strategy/sim aspect of this one when I have a few more hours up my sleeve for a decent stint)

Crysis 2 (replaying with DX11 ultra pack - still a little disappointed with this one)

BFBC2 (still one of the best games for a quick FPS fix)

Witcher 2 (nothing like a bit of hack n slash to let out your COD frustrations)

Shelved but makes an occasional appearance

ME2
Metro 2033
X3 series
FSX
Battle Stations Pacific

Because of steam I've been playing Team Fortress 2 quite a lot. As mentioned before it's free and mindless fun.

I've also gotten heavily into learning to fly the PMDG 747 in FSX. Picked up FSX Gold for $30 the other week. I never thought all those procedures (and not a whiff of combat) would hook me in, but I'm nearing 35 so I guess I'm inclined to go this route? :)

Then I've also been playing ROF, "ARMA 2 OA" and my old favourite 'Day of Defeat'.

Yesterday I fired up IL2 1946 as I had P-38 withdrawal and for a second I thought I was playing Capcom's 1942, amazing how aged the graphics have become after COD/ROF.

I forgot to mention I was playing COD a lot until the last patch. The AI drives me nuts and online is too empty so I'm afraid I'm bored of it at the moment.

Of course it will.. There is a reason they called the Bad Company version Bad Company.

Guys, sorry to be a little off-topic: do you think that a PS3 is worth just for the exclusive games (and i don't have a bluray player)? MGS4, uncharted, Little Big Planet (looks awesome), etc? If i buy it will share the same LCD as the PC.

Thanks!

If you can get a good deal yes. MGS4, uncharted and killzone are fantastic series and littlebigplanet is a lot of fun.

Just bare in mind the ps4 will be out soon :D

It very much depends...how badly do you want to play the exclusives? It's really a personal choice and I wouldn't want to take the responsibility of advising you one way or the other.

I looked at a PS3 last year, but decided it wasn't worth it to me. But to each his own.

Me too. I really haven't played much at all, but I don't get the same buzz playing this as I did with the original.
Maybe next time, we can get back into the jungle again. I think the game is just begging for more open-ended gameplay.

Apart from the obvious 1946 & CoD, I'm into Day of Defeat Source

Yeah its worth a bash. Some of the graphics are a bit dated but then other bits are outstanding and the gameplay is pretty good with Newtonian physics.

X3 was just way too complex for very little enjoyment benefit where as this is just the right amount of complexity.. Not a bad effort for a 1 man show!

bluescreen2 07-29-2011 08:27 AM

- hearts of iron 3
- victoria 2
- starcraft 2
- portal 2
- combat mission normandy

- cliffs of dover... waiting for more performance patch ;)

Wanna add also that I'm really interested in DCS: A-10 but I'm not sure. Seems so complicated which is ok if there's reward. What's your opinions on A-10? Exactly how steep is the learning curve and is it really really rewarding? Your input is appreciated :).

Hi ADDman,

i can only say for me: its worth, really great sim. You have much to learn but its satisfying. The whole procedure for starting the Hog is long but i dont want to miss it.
On a 32 bit system there are restrictions like no high texture setting, no HDR etc but you can always make a workaround.
I have HDR and HIGH scenes, texture enabled on my 32 bit system and it works well on my rig.

Cheers
