Very short development update
Yes, we're alive. Me especially. I rarely feel more alive than after a morning reading of the forums!
The sound is progressing well. General mood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3qbB4Kq3Y0 |
What more could we ask for?
|
Now that was short. lol
|
Hope the multiplayer coop interface also? ;)

At least it's good to know that the sound is coming along.
Thanks Luthier cheers. |

When do you expect the sound to be completed, could you give us an estimate? |
Hi Luthier,....
.... good to hear that things are progressing,
I hope to have a playable (on - and offline) "Cliffs of Dover" by christmas this year. In the meantime I fly "Rise of Flight". ;) |
Luthier, thats great....now if you dont mind as im sure it would help these forums very much and give the mods a welcome rest...
Could you write maybe a sentence or 3, spending maybe 5 mins on when, where and what(patch)... Thanks very much, your most humble servant. furbs. PS. im asking nobody except Luthier, not anyone else on the forum, or any mods. |
you must be joking me.. now they started to mock us? really?!
|
I think we are close
|
Morning Luthier,
Priceless, unexpected and refreshing LOL  Looking forward to the next update! PPP |

I'll be smiling all day:-D |
Yes I like the light hearted update, albeit brief.
Thanks Luthier |
Thanks luthier, good enough for me.
Love your sense of humor. Lol |

lol, when there is one thing that has to be learned from IL2 updates, then it is "whatever you say can and will be used against you in court". |
We'll it's good to see that the development team are in high spirts! (Unless of course Russians hate banjo music??????) All must be going well!
Cheers! Quote:

This was the recording of the background music for the third instalment of the series, 'Thunderbolts over Europe'
Come on guys smile................. |
Nice vid cheers.:)
|
I can't stop grinning :D
I think the ppl that will be hating on Luthier atm will actually be Alpha and Nearmiss ;) |
Hmmmmmmmmmm,i think the sounds sound a bit....southern?
|
I just have this mental image of several people actually foaming at the mouth :D
|
Thank you luthier!
|
Can I ask people (both fanboys and whiners like me) please don't spoil this post quoting who don't understand the joke? If we do that we can keep this thread clean and calm... thanks
|

Hey, Luthier, irony is a trait of British humour. Have you applied for citizenship? I hope there's a nice prezzie behind that cheeky smile. Oh and thanks, for the entertainment, now THAT's talent! |

I hope thats not the new sound developer! Could mean a bit of a delay. |
Touché! |
|
Thanks for the ermm... not sure what to call it.
Not entirely sure what the point was of this but I actually feel a little embarrassed to be a member here now that i know the game developers regard the communication with customers as a joke, if that is what it was ment to be? |
I wonder if the mods will make this one a sticky? :) I hope so.
|
wow..those kids :)
with that speed I think we`ll have a sound-patch to day..lol Thank You :) |
Quote:
IiiiiHaaaaaaaa! Excellent Luthier, all the best for you guys, Allons! |
Quote:
LoL, exactly. Just imagine Luthier and team giving their "thoughts" on everything the community "released", now that would be real fun, or not. :) |
..I dunno what's more insane, the fact that we're keeping on being fooled around or the fanboys squeaking with joy at a sign of Luthier's posts.
At least Oleg had respect for his fanbase/customers, bravo Luthier, bravo... uh and before you answer me, don't bother, cos there's not one rational reason in the world why we should deem this behaviour as acceptable, and surely you won't change my mind with your dogma, because to think otherwise I need facts, not humour, not sarcasm, not "hey yeah it's fine, it's coming out well" updates. and no, I won't foam, won't smash my PC, I'll just shake my head, roll my eyes and lose yet one point in the esteem scale of Ilya Shevchenko. |
At least he's not lost his log in, as we feared...

Thanks for the update Luthier, i knew you had a sense of humour, the first time I came across it was just after I installed Clod.:grin:

Oleg plays accordian,Luthier on guitar...

Quote:
Ahhhh the Med....such a pity....109s over Malta...p40s over the desert, hurris with cannons... |
Wow he plays the accordian far better than he makes games!!

Oh and BTW, I thought the video itself was funny, and thinking of Luthier rushing around with this tune playing on background... yea´ I got the humorous point. But seriously, in this situation, this is ridiculous. Please give us a realistic roadmap for what to expect, and I mean on the long run,´cause it´s surely gonna be one. If it´s going to take 2 years to make this sim be like it was advertised to, fine. Just say it. Then all this BS on this forum would stop. (oh, surely not... :) ) |
|
There were tears, there was laughter, just another day at 1C :)

and the One where Oleg plays the accordion, gets the win for most original cover song by a video game design team (that i must admit i listened too the whole way through lol thanks for the laugh guys :) |

I think Luthier's response was funny as hell, to be honest, and hey, at least it's SOME news. It's 100% better than NO news.
You have screamed for some news, even if it's just a line or two. Now you have it. You have gotten what you asked for. I find it hard to take anyone that's foaming at the mouth about this thread seriously. |

Back to reality for a moment Luthier and whilst you are in such a joyous mood, is it possible you can tell us how you are getting on with fixing co-op missions, unlike some of the other problems this one was broken out of the box. Its something that all squads enjoy doing especially for training etc, and it is in my opinion a very important feature of the game.
You stated shortly after release that your main priority was to get DX11 working and I guess you are close after 5 months but could you start work if possible on the co-op's asap. Many Thanks Tree (your comedy chum) |
Thanks Luthier, it's a shame the usual suspects are here with their pitchforks and burning torches again but as they say "a leopard can't change it's spots".

They ARE still alive! And the cake is NOT a lie!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RthZgszykLs Most probably won't understand this anyways judging from some of the responses. :D |

On a serious note everyone here wants different things some want coop others single player and ppl like me that want multiplayer sorted out first, it's hard to satisfy everyone... But the main thing is that both the positive and negative posters here all want the same thing, a replacement for 1946 and we will get it... at some point. Its good to see that most ppl are liking the humour in Luthier post rather than throwing the toys out of the pram again :D |
hehe nice one,put a smile on my face :)
p.s. those kids are bloody amazing, what talent! |

Lol! thanks for the update Luthier. It's sooo funny to read this thread because it's sooo obvious that "some" people are playing along with the joke but if you read "their" posts closely you can tell "they" are actually ticked off. Mission accomplished Luthier! I dig your style.

Take the sound example for a minute: they hired a sound engineer AFTER the game was released.. the scenario that is starting to depict is quite simple: they were forced to release a game, whilst keeping the original roadmap they had planned, and instead of giving some kind of explanation they keep on joking about it, like nothing happened. Reality check my friends, reality check.. |

Ok, I admit, performace has improved somewhat, but I really expected more performance gain in the timeframe of 5 months. And before you jump on me; I´m know my way around computers and optimizations and I´m willing to do that (I play Arma II afterall :) ), but at certain point I came to realize that (at least for my setup) there is no point trying to optimize anymore. Something´s got to be done to the core of the sim itself. This belief is amplified by the fact that I run ROF (not so hardware demanding) and DCS A-10 (pretty damn demanding) everything maxed out with great frame rates. So, what I´m trying to say is this; to guys that struggle with performance, the patch and work-in-progress details in previous posts by Luthier give little comfort. For us (and believe me, I really am not the only one, you can see that when you look around other forums that are not infected by this utterly stupid "fanboy-whiner war") game in many parts looks ugly, performs badly and feels that it needs a major overhaul. Not some new mineboats, or even some things (like the quality of the sounds) that could, on other conditions considered pretty important. To us, fixing the performance is the paramount right now. I don´t think that stating this could hurt anyone´s feelings or ignite other flaming war. |

Lets be clear, Luthiers post is not a "update"...its just a funny post.

Again, 100% of something is better than 100% of nothing. |

It's an update. We read that sound engine was a headache to dev team, and will be remake from scratch. Now Luthier says that this issue is "progressing well". Good enough. |
why do we need a sound patch ?
we aldready have some very good sound mods i dont think they will beat them. What we need are good textures. |

But, it seems you are very very easily pleased, good for you. :) |

Anyway, I know the story, it doesn't change the fact that there's better ways of handling this, if you're happing with knowing nothing about it, fair enough, I won't make a comment about it, but please have respect for people that do care and would like to know what's going on. It's not that hard, is it? Quote:

What's this, Luthier... you're reading the forums in the morning instead of working on the fix?
I suppose the next thing you'll tell us is that you take time out from patching to actually sleep for 8 hrs every night?!? The nerve! :-D |

I have been listening to the same information you have, you draw your conclusions based on your experience, so do I. I dunno whether I should feel sorry about the fact that my blood pressure is regular (in fact a bit too low lately)? Please help me understanding. Or maybe it's just a case of you being a troll, deliberately poking people that are not happy just to stir some mess and then point fingers? Who knows.. Again, feel free to explain, I (unlike you) am a very tolerant person. |
meh. whats the damn point anymore.
|
Luthier's post was a hint...
... to the May 2018 release of IL-2, codename "Han" (look what appears in the background at 0:30) Come on guys: Have humor. |
