So Disapointed after all the patches
Im not having a dig, i just thought id give it another go
So, just decided to install this game again, While my game ran fine the patch befor this Patch, nearly maxed out, Its now no go with this latest patch. my game now runs as bad as when i first downloaded it from steam Lagy, stutters all over, no crash damage, sound problems, no full screen, shimering trees are still there And as much as they get fixed in a new patch, they end up breaking more It makes me wonder just who is working on this game:confused: Anyways time to uninstall again, till the next time, but i wont bank on anything being fixed:rolleyes: |
hey Doc,you've got a good rig
i run the game on everything very high with good results got some stutters close to terrain though but its playable personally i found this sim excellent and i really enjoy it even with the bugs the only problem is that we never have news from time to time from the devs and that make's me really sad... |
Normally I'd say go play another game and we know stuffs is broke but I just reinstalled DCS A10 with my new system after months of not playing it and guess what... It's screwed up to! For me I get bad frames and FF causes the game to CTD. Oh and that ROF game stutters bad with Crossfire enabled.
I'm sick of throwing hardware at the problems of todays games! But moreover, I think its a sign of the PC games slow death. PC games cost too much to make with little audience to fund them. So game makers put out there half ares products hoping more funds come to fix there messes. Point? Uh I don't have one. But these threads don't either. |
Doc, do you run XP or windows7 64?
I run good as well and my PC is almost two years old but I run windows7 64. |

Why not try one card only and see? If this doesn't work, there's something else amiss software or setupwise I'd say. |
But there have only been two retail patches? I wouldn't get too disapointed yet.
How many retail patches did each of the Microsoft Combat flight sims get in their lifetimes? They were fairly buggy. Cheers! |
First thing I'd advise anyone with framerate trouble is to lower resolution. 1920x1200 on my system stutters and has framerate drops but 1600x1200 is excellent with most settings on high.
My biggest problem with performance is the input lag when a large number of planes are in the air. Does anyone know if this has been recognized by devs? |
Well, Blackdog kt and I were having a little discussion here a while back concerning Sli/Crossfire, and since then I've been reading up more about Sli/Crossfire systems and microstutters, and it's actually not uncommon to have microstutter in dual gpu machines, or at least that's the way it seems. It also seems that the more cards you add to your system, the more likely it is microstutter will occur. This is also the case with dual gpu cards like the 6990 or 590.
The microstutter topic seems to divide opinion pretty sharply among those with dual gpu machines. Some fiercely insist that it's complete nonsense that it even exists, yet others are adamant that microstutter is present almost by default and it's something you have to live with. All I'll say is that when there is smoke, there is also fire. |
I can run RoF and Dcs A10-c Maxed out, no problems at all, its only since the last patch that ive struggled, with this game
And yes i should be able to play this ok with my rig, so it just go's to show how badly this game is optimized |
Doc have you tried deleting the shader cache files and config files from your IL-2 user directory?
There are issues with the game using old files, deleting these files forces the game to create new ones which are based on the latest version. |
Are you also deleting the 1CSoftclub folder in your document and settings directory when you un-install? That's where some of the bugs originate when you've patched a few times.

But you say you can't so you must not be able! I will tell you this -If you do not want a flight sim with realism do not play Cliffs of Dover. You may not want to watch this video. It will only make you more upset. lol http://vimeo.com/26563528 |
Its really strange, the different results people are getting with even good rigs.
There are issues with deleting old files although I never did that as far as I can remember. I'm having no problems running CoD and since the last patch (and as a shot in the dark, perhaps since installing RoF) I don't get the MP sound bug. True, the servers don't have many players on atm but while I don't get the problem recently (typically 1 - 2 hours play), others on the same server do. I'm only running 1680x1050 at mostly High settings with buildings at medium and forest off (don't like those trees or the guys that hide in them). That's quite a barrel of monkeys when you consider the variation possibilities. I'm PC literate but not being too techy, I'm never sure what people mean when they same 'optimise'. Just what does software need to be optimised for? Seems to me that 'optimisation' is a fix for 'it don't work in the accepted windows environment'. Or is it the Video cards etc that don't fit the generic Windows bill? :headscratch: |

Windows update, new graphics driver etc? Even uninstalling something. At work we see the craziest crashes due to these. The last one being no registry settings changed when updating from an existing install of an application. But installed fresh all was well. No amount of uninstalling and cleaning teh registry helped. So we just copied it over and all's well. |

So, perhaps we can look forward to even better things. Perhaps come the day I'll be able to run 'Very High', maxed out, etc. Meantime I seem to be one of the luckier ones. Perhaps because of my only having 'High' settings. |
Your MP sound works because you turned off forest. Strange bug...

After all, I spent ten times that much on a new rig just to get it to deliver on CoD's promises (and better FSX etc). It would be daft to resent paying a significant price to actually get the software. One of the ironies is that people are prepared to pay so much for hardware but perhaps not the software. These aren't console games although the same market price is targeted. The developer's quandary is trying to meet high-end expectations with a low wide-market price and trying to make it all things to all men in order to make sales. Many console players want £30 max and low play-realism because anything else is too hard to learn and will lose their attention pretty quickly anyway. Some of the rest of us want high fidelity and will dedicate our time to it because quick-fix console games aren't what we're looking for. In the full blown professional simulation world the software is a huge cost and a large percentage of the overall. 'Game' simulation isn't in the same bracket but we seem to expect top-notch simulation, as far as is possible on a PC, for the price of a console game. In fact, and by popular agreement in many threads here, this simulation is much deeper than a simple console game, many of which appear to re-gurgitate the same core software for further cost recovery. If a narrow world of, say, 5,000+ hard core simmers worldwide were prepared to pay £300 for a fantastic combat simulation the market might still be attractive to more developers. At the current price they need to sell over 50,000 copies for the same return (which I know copuld still happen). I have no idea how large the market is in copy sales so perhaps the sweet spot is somewhere else. Would I pay £300? Possibly, if it was everything I wanted it to be and it would sit comfortably alongside my hardware investment. And yes, that would make it another market altogether. Who else expected CoD to be at least £50? I did. |

I didn't now that Editor, thanks. I'll pass it on. |
I've played a few games today and I didn't suffer the MP sound bug. The only difference being that I found a local server with a ping of about 90ms, instead of several hundred.
I wonder if that could have anything to do with it? |

I too have a mondo rig. It's one of the best you could build at the time of COD's release. I have also been complaining about 4 performance issues that have appeared only after 2 patch realeses ago. I even spoke with Luth dog and he said I shouldn't have any problems running everything on high. 1) stutters near land or when looking in it's direction 2) FPS hit in the 20% range where originally I had a surplus. 3) Anti Alaising doesn't work 4) Deteriorating performance if multiple missions are played. Again, I wouldn't mind these issues if it was stated that they are working to improve them. However, there has been no mention of these on the "to do" list. I'm just worried they have given up on the performance issues and are assuming that they no longer exist except for the "minor performance" issues stated to be resolved in a few months time.
