Have you guys heard of this one yet?
Apparently this game was just released, I never heard of it before.
DCS: A-10C http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqQCcqM2Qww http://pc.ign.com/articles/117/1177083p1.html |
Its part of the LOCKON series started quite a number of years ago now.
In the series are LOCKON: Modern Air Combat and it's sequel LOCKON: Flaming Cliffs, as well as a helicopter sim, that being Black Shark (which is also interoperable with Flaming Cliffs in multiplayer) and on top of that is a civillian release of a military trainer... A-10C Warthog (which is mooted to become interoperable with Black Shark) DO yourself a favour... these are excellent sims and worth every penny. The learning curve is steep, product/ community support is phenominal and you won't be disppointed - no sireebob - not one bit. |
Too many buttons.
fakt. |

Too many buttons?
Use two keyboards. I didnt have it now but next week it will arrive fortunatly after a long time fighting for it. C card problems and the long time to order/ dispatch it. |

I have it as well, but dont fly it no more, far to complecated :( |
But... but... where's the propeller? You know, the spinny thing up front?
It always makes me sad to see these poor deprived machines that were built without any propeller. Hell of a thing to do to a plane. :( |

Those graphics look awesome

Don't watch if you don't have it; everything else will lead to the loss of some money.

I wonder how you think you will do it but, judging from he next sentence you wrote (you do not have the game) your talk is wishfull thinking and not experience. You may be dissapointed... (in the forums they mentioned that HIDMacro does not intercept the keystrokes from the second keyboard thus they are received by the game as well) ~S~ |
DCS: A-10 is, by far, the best modern combat flight simulation ever released along with DCS: Black Shark. They are complicated on full realism settings but damn rewarding once your out of training.
They guys over at Eagle Dynamics knows how to make great simulations, that's for sure :) |
And the ugly thing there, run with 100 octanes and 12 boost?
|

It's a sim so that's the way it has to be, but basically I'm starting to reach my limits of immersion with ultra-complex sims like this. I'm the limiting factor, in other words. LOMAC was nice, but obviously not nearly as complex as this. I'll buy the game one day though...the A-10 is such an amazing aircraft. |
Problem with sims like A-10 is unless you have a full mock up pit it is just too tedious trying to remember if you assigned Ctrl+Alt to this or was it Shift + Alt.......aww f**k it ill just get airborne and strafe my own airfield with the gatling.

You re wrong bud, from the first time it was announced i collected and read everything about it. Yes i have mods patches and even the 600 pages flight manual. I know its very hard work but this is one of the greatest modern airplane. If CLOD doesnt work for me (right now with newest patch) i can try to learn starting engines on that A-10. YES i have a quickstart file with 46 buttons. Its better for me to trying dcs while CLOD is put aside til Tuesday. And about the two keyboards it was to be meant as a joke, nothing more mate. Over and out |
Interesting to think that someone who flys that sim in FULL real settings could actually jump inot a real A-10 and fly it?
Apart from Downloading way points into the nav comp (if they do that) before flights and actual pilot fitness do you think there would be any difference as far as input/controls go? Dare i say that complex flight sims and how real they actually are helped one of the biggest terrorist attacks take shape and succeed :( These Sims are getting so complex it amazes me |
Quote:
it didn't quite work that way, all those terrorists on the 911 flights were actually going through flight training at a major flight training organization in the US, they had to use MS flight sim to practice the awfull event they planned because it would have been perhaps a little obvious what they were up to trying to practice it in the actual simulators.......although it was blatantly dubious that they never showed interest in learning to land. not so sure just anybody could climb into the A-10 and fly it just because of the sim either but I do agree with you the fidelity is amazing and there certainly would be some people capable of it. |
I've been spending a lot of time in DCS:A-10C while waiting for CloD to finish baking. It doesn't have the excitement of a WWII dogfight, but still damn rewarding when you're learning your way around the cockpit.
Remember that feeling the first time you learned to ride a bike or drive a stick-shift? ;) |
i fly DCS-A10C from the first Beta
and i can ensure you that is the most realistic simulator for the pc.. personally never had a problem with it to fly it or killing targets or use the various advanced systems that has..[Falcon fan for years] i fly every day online and there are a very good community and very friendly for what you ask.. you should try this with the latest patch is excellent :-):-) |
small technical question...ANYBODY saw them landing...like...EVER ?
|
Quote:
Just ordered it. Is it possible to have too many flight sims?:grin: |
Quote:
And as i said there are alot of other factors involved in just being able to jump into said AC and fly it but you get my drift and i dont hink there would be much difference in controls and instrument navagation, flying the bird due to its FM etc etc are a different story i know.. |
Quote:
i tried flanker and eurofighter when it first came out...very long time that was but i find myself just looking around and doing flybys while in external mode rather than trying to master 100 of different keystrokes..lol |

I like the relative simplicity of WWII fighters. It's in between WWI and modern, right in the place where I want it. But that A-10 game looks really fun. A-10 has always been one of my favorite aircrafts, have multiple posters of a-10 in my room. I might actually give it a shot. |
heh, I use the keyboard less in DCS A10 than any other flight sim I have ever played. It has a fully clickable cockpit after all. Plus I use an X52 ( which isn't exactly rare hardware for a sim fan to own).
For laughs, though, you cant beat doing a mission in DCS A10 then jumping into my lawnmower engine powered, wicker basket, with a pea shooter that is Rise Of Flight for a stark contrast :D |
i have reasons to believe that the next DCS Project will be the F-15SE
or the F-18C Time will tell.. |

I own all the DCS products (the Ka-50 Black Shark and the A-10C Warthog), very step curve. Don't fly them because I don't have the time to learn all the systems and avionics, they are big time consumers, at least to my level of knowledge.
The manuals, information and help of the community are very good. And the products themselves are state of the art simulators. Cheers. |
Yea I love old aircraft, but I also like the new systems. I played PMDG's MD-11 for FSX, and immersing yourself on the ramp just starting up the engines is half the fun. Especially once you can do it just from memory.
|
Thats it after watching thoses vids im now off to re-download my copy of DCS warthog, plus im yet to see what it looks like on my new computer build...........Wish me luck :)

just a FYI. Eagle Dynamics dont make anything unless the information is 100% available. if there are any ommisions then its pretty much a no go. that is also true for any classified information. if a system can be replaced realisticly then that may happen but thats abouts it.
so you can never expect an AH64-D for example. Its incredible what Ed do in general. Prior to Blackshark i simply couldnt believe the bar could be raised so high but they did it. It took me 9 weeks to learn the Ka-50, Constant reading everyday for hours, most of which is adjusting to the russian way of things (dramatically different Logics!). Learned all the systems bar one which im yet to spend time with. Acomplishment with some education! somthing gaming rarely brings you. i Bought a-10 during beta but this game IL2 has seriously sidetracked me from what i was expexcting to be 2-3 months of learning the A-10. Sadly im sitting here not doing much of much but lets not talk about that lol. Anyway if theres anyone here who wants to learn some a10together hook me up on steam. Ali Fish . |

Hey thats not fair!!!
I am waiting for my copy. :( Must say cant wait for it. I read and saw much of A-10. This is my favorite modern aircraft. Sure i was and be a fan of WWII aircraft. ANd CLOD changed me!!!!:-P I mean after playing it i cant switch back to IL2. So hopefully Tuesday will bring me back into any cockpit. Back to A-10. I have flown the missions (only A-10) in FC 2. I like the new cockpit, therfore i bought Reid publications for the A-10. Its a great book, i like it very much. The only thing i miss, i do not have a book with pix of flying Hogs. S! |

But yes, there is a nut ton more censored stuff for the apache. I hear the fa18 might be next, or do I just hope that this is true so badly I am putting the words into other people's mouths..? |

Russian company, I wonder if they have any former 1c employes.

DCS A10 is a masterpiece and it is far less complicated than most people think. Actually the Tactical Awareness Display and the Situational Awareness Data Link make A10 a far easier sim to fly Full Switch than Clod or 1946 are.
There are tonnes of community produced guides on the forum and videos on youtube that break the learning down into manageable chunks. As for the next project who knows or cares, it'll be brilliant, challenging, rewarding and DX11! |

Very cool! |
Great Sim..

Thank you. Didnt know it. For me the AH-64D Longbow Apache is the finest and nicest Chopper on world. YOu saved me. After Janes Longbow there was no real Apache sim. Another great sim. For sure a must have for me!!! |

This reminds me. I recall when at early IL2 days I was hoping so strongly to go on for Mosquito/Tempest hunting in my Gustav. After roughly few of such aerial victories the game got cracked and I never looked back. Sad.
Still, I got a fair share of them P38s at least. |
It was a bit of a rough landing, but i made it lol

Sorry this seems to be a dragster:rolleyes:
Engines still ON FIRE. Great landing doc, hopefully next week i can smell cockpits inside. I had an e-mail (Monday) A-10 was finally dispatched. You are a though guy. Everything on fire but you have a cup of tea inside the pit. No hurry to get out. Cheers LC |
With all external loads still attached???
That looks like a real simple DM to me. |

Im still learning the start up lessons lol
But i will say this, with settings on max, sitting there in ya cockpit, clicking all the right switches, and listering to thoses babys start its just amazing, and then after youve done all the start up, taxi out to runway, which is a joy in its self, more so now i have trackir Lineing yourself up on the runway, then moving the throttles on my Hotas warthog, Oh man what a feeling lol, this games better than sex;) And the screen shot above is just me having some fun, after the steep learning curve, of this game, you need to have some fun :) And the reason i ended up like that, is self-inflicked, i droped a bomb, and was way to close to the ground lol, and the resulting screenshot is what happend next :) |
I just bought / downloaded it 2 days ago. I had planned on it just haven't but finally did.
|
DCS doesn't mess around. Love their sims.
|
This is one of the reasons i havent touched COD anymore. DCS has got what it takes to keep me playing for hours. COD makes me wonder where it all went wrong go figure.....
Call me when AA works :) |

The latest patch installs cockpit shadows for more realism. When the CoD Beta Patch was installed, I did a quick Black Death Benchmark, saw the missing vehicles and switched it off. Back to the A10 for now then...........:( |

Are the missions similar to Il-2 dogfight or coop? Is there an online war similar ADW? |

F-16 would be great IMO. It's very versatile, it has very good performance, a long service record and it still flys today. From this point of view a F18 would also be cool. But no F15 or F14. Too heavy and not very versatile (not talking about the air to ground variants). I am looking forward to play DCS A-10 (I own black shark). Its very nice to learn and finaly master all these complex systems and that is what makes it interesting. |
DCS A-10 is now available via steam to UK residents !
£20.09 this is a bargain. |

The interesting thing is ability to give side tasks to units, change their aggressiveness, targets, radio frequencies. If you like mission building, you should get it. COOP close air support missions could be very hard and interesting, if you have to work at danger close distance from friendlies in changing battlefield. P.S.: wait for Russian version, it should be released pretty soon. |
So at least i have the A-10C. Great. I really like the start up procedure. Its fantastic. To get this bird alive is awesome. I am very happy to have it now.
Tons of guides are to find.Made just a little booklet. Now i have to print the airbases wich i found on Virtuelles JG32. I am a nugget but i enjoy contacting tower for engine start, permission for taxiing etc. Great sim. |
DCS looks awesome but it's a modern flight sim for hardcore users. Is there an arcade mode where you just fly the thing without having a brain explosion looking at all the buttons? Also does it have a mission builder?
