Nice work, mate ;)

If you don´t mind a little rework, I would suggest to replace on

Page 7: Left bubble: "Wir sind getroffen" Right Bubble: "Wir sind unter Feuer" (We are under fire) or "Wir haben ein Feuer" (We have a fire here onboard)

Page 9: 109 jockey "Jetzt wirst du sterben, Tommy"

Page 10 "Jetzt habe ich Dich"

Otherwise it is quite charming the way it is now, keep it coming! ;)

grayson1337 06-15-2011 08:32 AM

I would suggest an alternative for SNAFUs correction for Page7: "Wir haben ein Feuer"
Try "Wir brennen!"

cheers ;)

BigPickle 06-15-2011 08:53 AM

wicked mate love the idea, just like reading Commando again, bravo!
S!

Redroach 06-15-2011 09:05 AM

Noooo, as I stated in the other thread: Leave that English German alone! For a native german speaker, it has its special charme! Leave it in there! :D

Fjordmonkey 06-15-2011 10:47 AM

Great stuff :D

palker4 06-15-2011 10:57 AM

where is the like button :) ?

Mysticpuma 06-15-2011 11:07 AM

Like the idea, really nice. Can you tell me what Plug-in you used in Photoshop to get that effect? Really cool. Cheers, MP

Rattlehead 06-15-2011 11:37 AM

Great work! It's just like reading a comic book.

MACADEMIC 06-15-2011 11:39 AM

Super Nice, thanks! :)

(indeed, where's the 'Like' button?).

BRIGGBOY 06-15-2011 11:49 AM

Thanks for the translation corrections! I know about 2 actual words in german, other than that I'm relying on internet translator :/

Thanks for the encouragement guys! The conclusion should be coming soon (along with the translation hotfix's)

EDIT:
I used a stock Photoshop filter. Kinda looks simular to a poster doesn't it? :P

badfinger 06-15-2011 01:27 PM

In Episode 1, page 1 it says "Fire at Will".

How do you tell which one is Will?:)

Its rather simple, Will is obviously from Texas, just shoot at guy with the cowboy hat!

Nooooo! leave it the way it is, please! As I said on pg 1, it has its special charm(e?)!

So the translations can be read? Not just nonsense? More of a "obvious your not German" kinda thing?

SNAFU 06-15-2011 02:31 PM

Well, it is understandable for a native german speaker. It gives the artwork a funny touch though, as if a the pilots are from the foreign legion, if you know what I mean. It puts a smile on your face, especially the "wir sind betroffen" (that would mean, "it concerns us", but I guess you mean "wir sind getroffen", that would be "we are hit")

So as I said, too, leave it like its is, it has its own charme and fits a comic, but if you do want to have it perfectly straight and clean... your choice, I like it the way it is... ;)

FG28_Kodiak 06-15-2011 02:58 PM

Ich bin auch immer sehr betroffen, wenn ich getroffen werde.

OK, but why do you have to pick on just Will? Is it because he's short? What about all those other guys?

Yes...

Not at all, its completely understandable - the latter part of your question applies. It's just wacky German and that's what makes it so great ^-^
Actually, I've seen many non-native Germans try hard to achieve that style, but they're mostly not as good as what you've done here by accident :)

Srinidhalaya 06-15-2011 05:28 PM

Thanks Red. I'll just keep on with what I'm doing. EDITED original post to add the exciting conclusion.

hahah coool! i was gonna ask how do you really say those things in German.
I'm glad we have a rather big german population in this forum. :)

Episode 2: Operation Tarpon Hunt

Here is a preview. This episode will be released all at once, with this preview as an exception.

I'm changing a few small layout details to make it appear more of a comic (such as a border for each page). Recruited some help with the dialog as well, but don't worry it has nothing to do with translation...I'm just not a writer... :)

Image removed due to typo. Below is episode two.

Redroach 06-16-2011 05:53 AM

Ah, the new issue of "Dover Chronicles" is coming soon... ^-^

JG5_emil 06-16-2011 10:19 AM

I love this pics :D

Srinidhalaya 06-16-2011 05:30 PM

Hey this thread survived the forum cleaning that just happened! Sweet.

A little hint about Episode 2; its based on the single player mission London Attack in single missions. :)

Srinidhalaya 06-18-2011 12:29 PM

The second episode is still coming, don't worry. Had to get some actual game time in, hence the delay... :P

amazing work.. shame i cnat understand the german :(

Srinidhalaya 06-19-2011 09:51 PM

I hope I did the translation better this time. :/
Eventually I'm gonna redo everything to all one language and make different copies for each language. But for now I'm gonna keep this format. :)

Thanks Pupo!

I was referring to an availability for those who wanted it, maybe in pdf format or something of such.... The postings will remain as is.
And thank you btw :)

ATAG_Dutch 06-19-2011 10:32 PM

Superb Srin!

I remember reading those Commando comics as a kid.

The Germans always had these stock phrases - 'Ach! Teufel!' , 'Gott im Himmel!' and 'Kamerad!' - whatever they may mean.

Go on, just for me? Cheers, great work!

Srinidhalaya 06-19-2011 11:25 PM

Thanks dutch!

The next episode will be called "Vulture"
Gee, wounder what its gonna be about :P

badfinger 06-20-2011 01:11 AM

I'm just glad to see Germans other than Will are being fired at.

binky9

Srinidhalaya 06-20-2011 02:09 AM

'Will' shall be making a return in a future episode...

Srinidhalaya 06-22-2011 10:18 PM

I haven't disappeared, I just got a new job! (it kicks ass btw)
Still working on a new episode, but it will take longer to pump them out. :)
I'm really looking forward to bringing the next episode to light. There will be a nice little twist.

Lololopoulos 06-22-2011 10:39 PM

awesome. looking forward to it. just don't let us wait too long. haha

LcSummers 06-23-2011 06:14 AM

Hi Fliegerkamerad SRI
