Nice skin Shado, the disclaimer...i just wondered why they could be unsafe?
|
Nice work mate
|
Hi Meplay, well there seems to be a bit of confusion surrounding templates/skins that have been unlocked using the now famous kegetys dll mod, as you probably know some of the skins were available for editing on release (Spitfire) but others werent accessible, there is a claim that Steam can pick up on these skins with their anti cheats system and block or ban your account if they are used online.
Full details here: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=23281 Perhaps we could get some clarity on this? Hi Kristorf, thank you, yours are just stunning, the amount of work you put into them, pure brilliance. |
Superb Heinkel Shado!!!!,absolutley brilliant mate,I would love to see more German bombers skinned, almost all the bombers used in the BOB had coloured spinners,so this is a great start, thank you.
Edit....That underside is stunning,fantastic work,more please,more |

Thanks, now we are Cooking

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/848/do179kg76.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...o179kg76a.jpg/ Shado.....Oh no,not that Meaker again,lol. |
Well there a Yellow tailed/nosed JU-87 coming next, so when thats done ill start on the Do17, that should make it a nice mixed bag with nearly all my Luftwaffe layered templates done.
|
Sounds great Shado,we definatley need a Stuka with a coloured nose, looking forward to that.BTW the Ju88 you did looks superb in battle, really beautiful, thank you again.
Guys like yourself are transforming this game, seeing pics in old books of these old aircraft is one thing, but then to be able to capture them in a sim is truly magic. |
At the end of the day that’s we all want to do, turn it into something that is not only visually but in every aspect resembles as close to a realistic simulation of that time as is possible,I know the sim has a long way to go and I hope that we get there, with the amazing work of Cpt Farrel, Kristorf, BuzPilot , Jafa and Bigpickle and I’m sure many more equally as talented we can’t go wrong.
From my perspective I’m just glad they decided not to add those coloured hues/de-saturation filters that seems to have been thrust upon us not only by the games industry but also seen in many movies of late, that would have ruined any skinning possibility’s, I just want the colours to work with and that’s what we got. Happy times |
JU-87
This is a generic skin with no markings added other than the historically correct one :) http://www.mediafire.com/?l93znibm6i32103 https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-W...6-11_00033.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-O...6-11_00032.jpg Right go get yourself some radar installations:) ***VERY IMPORTANT*** This skin is NOT for use online and WILL get you BANNED if you use it online. DO NOT USE WHILST ON MULTIPLAYER OR WHILST YOU ARE ON STEAM AS YOU WILL POSSIBLY GET BANNED If you do want to use this skin we reccommend disconnecting to you internet connection and then using it, and if you do want to go online with the game please DELETE the skin before you proceed (just as precaution but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) Thanks guys. |
Excellent work Shado,another masterpiece,thank you:grin:
|
Why thank you kind sir, mm time for a Do17 methinks.......
|
Awesome skin, thanks!

Skins are also not permitted???? ~S~ |
Hi GRAthos,
Well there is a load of confusion over the Steam/Vac anti-cheat system they have in place, I cant get any clarity from either Steam or 1c so I Err on the side of caution, I dont want anyone getting in trouble be it the end user or myself for anyone banned. Personally my own feelings are, if it is a generic skin that was allowed to be edited without a need for unlocking the dds files then I can see how it would detect it as a cheat as it would have to do a pixel by pixel comparison, and that would be impossible, the overheads involved in that alone are unimaginable. It could turn out to be a whole load of b0ll0x, who knows, I just had enough of the nagging from various parties to put disclaimers on my files.. |
A, OK thanks Shado for the explanations, it is a very nice skin, too nice to let it pass... ;)
Thanks! ~S~ |

Hi Shado
hope this will help, if not i have some decals in 1/48. If you need them i can scan them. Cheers |
Well here you are LcSummer and anyone else who wants it for that matter, Illner's 109
No markings needed. Bf 109E-3, “White 2”, 4./JG51 – Ofw. Hans Illner This appears to be the be the aircraft Illner used in mid-August, after his third victory. What is most unique about it, is that Illner had a set of bright red lips holding a cigarette painted on the front of the under-cowl after his first victory. According to Vol. Two Section 2 of the Jagdwaffe series, the cigarette should have the date of Illner’s first kill, 5 July 1940, printed on it, rather than the brand name. The Eagle Strike decal does not have this. Also the Jagdwaffe volume reports the smoke from the cigarette as gray and black. The decal is printed as red and white. This could come down to photo interpretation. As to other markings carried by this aircraft, Illner had the name of his girlfriend, Gretel, painted on the fuselage as well as a pair of dice above the name and a yellow clover below. The aircraft also carried the weeping bird emblem of II./JG 51. At first look, it appears that the legend under the bird is “Gott strafe Bngland”. But, upon closer examination, England is spelled with an “E” not a “B”. http://www.mediafire.com/?dm27pakqorvfwrr https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-_...6-16_00051.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-T...6-16_00059.jpg Thank you |
Very nice :)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
GREAT AND MASTERPIECE OF WORK:-P Thanks bud again!!!!! WOUW!!! LC |
LOl, I'm glad you like it mate, it was an interesting skin to do
|
Nice weathering, is that useing the editor weathering shado? or have you added it yourself
I cant seem to get ingame weathering to work:confused: |
the ingame weathering isnt working at the moment so I add my own, based on the weathering layer within the game/skin, of course once weathering is fully implemented it could turn some of my skins screwy but we'll see.
|
Do you plan on doing the spit skins shado:grin:
|
Yes, once I find the cockpit :)
Oh, there it is, ok the weathering needs a little work :) https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-m...6-17_00010.jpg |

Hi Shado,
thanx, got it. A real eyecandy. And thank you for information on this aircraft. |
Nice work mate.
One thing I would say to look at is your roundel colours, you seem to have differant shades of blue and red for fuselage and wing upper and lower wing rounds and tail flash |
Hi Kristorf, yes I got to get a grip of that, Ill have to fix it now youv'e pointed it out :)
EDIT: yes thats better, also founf a bit of stray texture, Quality control was a bit lacking :) |
Very nice shado, will have this one, even though i dont fly the mk1, just have to hope you nock out a mk2a :)
|
thx shado she is a cracker. nice bit of history to.
|
Top skin Shado;)
|
Arrrghh, new patch, new lighting = shiny siny skin arrggh me no like :(
|
personally i like the new lightning:-)
|
Nnnnnnnnnnoooooooo it plays havoc with me skins ;)
I'll get used to it  |
That just got to be some unforseen consequence of some other change because they can't possibly think it should look like that. I tried the 109 and it's shinier than the most polished NMF warbird I ever saw. I'm sure that wasn't intentional - or at least praying it wasn't... :)
|
I am almost certain its the weathering layer they have enabled thats causing it, load a hurricane up in QMB, then push the weathering slider all the way you will see besides the obvious scratches etc that it's marginally duller than if you had have left it.
Would be nice to have a button or something to switch that off, I havent had a good sniff around the conf.ini so there might be something in there, the last patch was perfect for me being as there was only a eggshell shine. Tell you something though the bare metal underneath looks superb. Oh confusion reigns :) |
Hi Shado.
I just now started painting in cod, immediately lost some parts  , so i make new panel finder (for small parts). DL if you need this: Color_2048x2048.jpg White (for multiply layer) S! Tom |
WOW, hink I see pink Elephants...:)
Thanks Tom, so much better for the smaller parts |
|
Thank you for taking the time to do this Tom.
Very much appreciated. |

|
Thank you Captain, yes thank goodness they put it away for the full patch :) Now if they want to bring it back I hope they make it switchable :)

264 SQD Defiant
http://www.mediafire.com/?f4pf160fid1yovr https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-M.../s1600/264.jpg Of the three low-winged monoplane fighters of the Battle of Britain the Boulton Paul Defiant is the one least remembered. First flown on August 11th 1937 the Defiant was a natural progression from the classic biplane fighters that proceeded it such as the Hawker Demon and Hart. 264 Squadron , first formed at Sutton Bridge on October 30th 1939, became the first to receive the Defiant. It did not however make an auspicious start, the aircraft being plagued with engine and undercarriage failures grounding the aircraft until late February 1940. Once declared operational 264 squadron were detached to Wittering from where they flew convoy patrols over the North Sea. In May they moved to Duxford from where they would claim their first success claiming a Ju88 and a He 111 but soon after they sustained heavy losses due to poor tactics losing five out of six aircraft to Messerschmitt Bf 109s. This led to a change in role for the Defiants, they were to be used as anti-bomber escorts of English Channel convoys. Dunkirk bought one of the Defiants finest hours; On May 29th they claimed 37German aircraft (19 Ju 87s, 15 Bf 110s, 2 Bf 109s and a Ju 88). This was largely due to the confusion of the enemy attacking the Defiants as if they were Hurricanes. Unfortunately it would not take long for the Luftwaffe to exploit the Defiants lack of forward firing machine guns and vulnerable underside where the gunner could not return fire. Throughout 1940 264 Squadron continued to move from station to station two of which were Kirton-on-Lindsey and Hornchurch during the Battle of Britain. At Hornchurch in August 1940 they were to claim 3 Ju 88s, 3 Do 17s and a Bf 109E. On the 28th of August they were withdrawn from front line day fighter service to Duxford. Ultimately Defiants were to gain success as nightfighters before being relegated to target tug duties. |
That is a real beauty of a skin Shado, what a looker, thank you very much Sir:grin:
This has to be my all time favourite to date, simply stunning mate. |
No worries mate, glad you like it :)

http://www.mediafire.com/?4j2g5wkoobvyc7b
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-E.../s1600/141.jpg 141 Squadron based at West Malling in Kent, received orders to send 12 of its Boulton Paul Defiant turret-fighters to Hawkinge early on 19th July 1940. At around 12:30 hours a scramble was conducted for a patrol 20 miles south of Folkestone at just 5,000 feet! However, only nine crews got into the air owing to three of the RAF fighters becoming unserviceable on start-up. The squadron had not yet been in combat with their aircraft. Less than 30 minutes later Hawkinge witnessed what was left of the squadron return, when just two out of the nine Defiants landed intact after escaping ruthless 'Schwarms' of Messerschmitt Me109's from Jagdgeschwader 51 who had pounced on them over the Channel. Four pilots and six gunners were either dead or missing with others wounded. One of the five Defiants that did not return was crewed by 22 years old Flight Lieutenant Ian David Grahame Donald and his air-gunner, Pilot Officer Arthur Charles Hamilton, aged 28 and from North Harrow in Middlesex. When the nine Defiants were attacked by the Messerschmitts, all of the RAF machines were hit and two of them immediately tumbled away down towards the sea, their crews never to be seen again. Donald and Hamilton in Defiant L7009 (HT-W) adorned with a painted cockerel emblem and the name 'Cock o' the North', were fighting for their lives in an aircraft ablaze from nose to tail; in a desperate attempt to escape the enemy and return to Hawkinge, they dived down towards the sea. Approaching Dover the ailing RAF fighter struggled for height and for reasons not known, Hamilton managed to extricate himself from the confines of his turret and bale out, but he sadly never survived his descent into the sea Still on fire the Defiant raced across Dover and turned towards the Elms Vale area as it then flew along the valley, where tragically for the pilot his luck soon ran out. When only four miles from Hawkinge the engine of the stricken fighter faltered and Donald perished as the doomed aircraft slammed into the side of a hill Donald was buried in Tilford (All Saints) Cemetery in Surrey, and the body of Hamilton was recovered from the sea and he was laid to rest in Hawkinge Cemetery. At the bottom of his headstone are the words: "To the dear memory of "Arch"..He that giveth his life shall find it." Donald was born on 3rd September 1917 and was the son of Air Marshal Sir Grahame Donald. He was educated at Dulwich College and joined the RAF in early 1936. Hamilton had only joined the RAF in March 1940 as a direct-entry Air Gunner and after training was posted to 141 Squadron in May. His career was fated to be very short. It's recorded that Hamilton had a Southern Rhodesian connection and there is a memorial plaque in the hall of Churchill School, Causeway in Zimbabwe 141 Squadron were known as the 'Cock Squadron' after winning an inter-squadron competition in 1918. Thus tradition saw the squadron name its Defiant aircraft like 'Cock o' the North', 'Cock-a-hoop', 'Cocksure' and 'Cocked for Firing' to name but some. |
Fantastic Shado, these Defiant's are going to look superb in game, can't thank you enough, and love the historic script:)
As these are so good would it be possible for some blanks of both Defiants please? |
Shado,
wonderful skins. Everyone is getting better and better. The Defiants are tremendous. With these new skins i like that bird too. Awesome work. Thanks and keep going on please. It doesnt matter wich aircraft, they are all beautiful.:-P Cheers and thank you LC |

Thanks again guys, the history is fascinating, I've learnt so much just by painting skins.
|
Nice to see the old Daffy getting some love!

And now for some Sunderlands, I'll point out now that the Norwegian paint scheme is not from the BOB era, it was just purely for my pleasure :)

Ok this is Non BOB :) https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Y...s1440/6sqd.jpg Avro Anson A4-32 of 6 Squadron RAAF left Richmond airfield at 12:40 pm on Friday 28 April 1939 on a flight that was expected to last less than 3 hours. This was part of an Air Navigation course they were being trained in. The particular exercise for this flight was a wind finding direction course over the sea. The weather was clear and fine and weather conditions in no way contributed to the crash which ultimately happened. After leaving Richmond Airfield the Avro Anson was flown out to sea in the vicinity of Smith Head, Sydney. The crew maintained constant radio communication with the airfield and the flight proceeded without incident until approximately 3:30pm. At 3:27pm a radio message was received from the aircraft to the effect that the aerial was being reeled in preparatory to landing. At that time the aircraft was within a few miles of the airfield and within a few minutes of landing. This was the last message received from the aircraft. At 3:30pm Avro Anson A4-32 crashed into the ground. There were several eye witnesses. It would appear the aircraft was flying in normal level flight at about 1,000 feet when eye witnesses heard some spluttering from the engines along with the noises of backfiring and puffs of smoke were seen coming from the aircraft. The nose of the Avro Anson dropped to an angle of 30 degrees and it started to lose height. Eye witnesses then indicated they could hardly hear the noise of the engines but they then made a sudden roaring noise and the nose pulled up again.. But then it went into a steeper dive and crashed directly into the ground with its engines roaring. The following four crew members of Avro Anson A4-32 were killed instantly:- Pilot Officer Maxwell Leonard Hickson (Navigator) Pilot Officer Lloyd George Harness (Pilot) Aircraftman Raymond Duncan Knight (Wireless Operator) Aircraftman Harrie Clarke (Fitter Armourer) |

Did you have a photo of Freeborn's ZP+C Spit? I ask because, with rare exception, virtually all the images (profiles, photos) of 74 Sqdn Spits, for example Sailor Malan's ZP+A, have shown the unit/acft ID letters as being horizontally aligned rather than 'stepped'/non-aligned. Both aligned and non-aligned letters were used by RAF (I believe more of the former style). I do not yet have COD, but it appears that all the default Spit skins have non-aligned/stepped letters...this oddity/error was noted during the many months of pre-release updates, but was apparently not changed upon release. However, it now appears that skinners can apply either style of lettering....Recently I noticed in the Kristorf's skins thread that he had done an historically accurate 54 Sqdn aligned Spit KL+B. Also, here is Reflected's Malan ZP+A skin with aligned letters: http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/3853/unledvj.jpg In a nutshell, I am curious why you chose the non-aligned lettering style for your Freeborn ZP+C skin. Meanwhile, many Thanks to you (and the other skinners) for all your work/contributions. |
Ok so this is wrong then? it's all I have used to work from.
I got to say I'm a bit dissapointed i got it wrong. https://www.aviationillustration.com...iremk1.30a.jpg https://www.aviationillustration.com...oducts_id=2049 |

Hurricane Mk I P3120 RF-A of No 303 'Polish' Sqn, flown by Flg Off Z K Henneberg, September 1940 Available from Airwarfare.com http://airwarfare.com/sow/index.php?...tid=53&cid=125 https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-b.../s1600/303.jpg No. 303 (Polish) Squadron was formed on 2 August 1940 at RAF Northolt, and became operational on 31 August. Its initial cadre was 13 Officer and 8 NCO pilots and 135 Polish ground staff. At the outset, serving RAF officers were appointed to serve as CO (S/L RG Kellett) and Flight Commanders (F/L JA Kent and F/L AS Forbes) alongside their Polish compatriots, as the Polish pilots were unfamiliar with RAF Fighter Command language, procedures and training. On 31 August, the squadron was scrambled in the late afternoon on its first operational sortie. In a dogfight over Kent, 'A ' Flight claimed four confirmed and two probable victories over Messerschmitt Bf 109, possibly of LG 2. Claimants were are Kellet, F/O. Henneberg, P/O Feric and Sgt. Karubin. Although the number of Battle of Britain claims was overestimated (as with virtually all fighter units), No. 303 Squadron was one of top fighter units in the battle and the best Hurricane-equipped one. According to historian John Alcorn, 44 victories are positively verified, making 303 Squadron the fourth highest scoring squadron of the battle, after Squadron Nos. 603 AuxAF (57.8 verified kills), 609 AuxAF (48 verified kills) and 41 (45.33 verified kills), which all flew Spitfires.[5] It was also had the highest kill-to-loss ratio; of 2.8:1. However, J. Alcorn was not able to attribute 30 aircraft shot down to any particular unit, and according to Jerzy Cynk and other Polish historians, the actual number of victories for 303 Squadron was about 55–60.[5] According to Polish historian Jacek Kutzner the verified number of kills of 303 Squadron is around 58.8, which would still place it above all other squadrons regarding verified kills. This is presented by Kutzner's chart, which shows Polish confirmed kills ,confirmed kills of all Allied squadrons, including Polish and real German losses on each day when 303 Squadron was involved in air combats The name chosen by the squadron was in honour of the famous Polish Kosciuszko Squadron which fought during the Polish-Soviet War in 1920. No. 303 Squadron was also linked to the original Kosciuszko Escadrille through personnel that had served in the squadron. Later, further air force units from the aforementioned unit were renamed the 7th, 121st and 111th Escadrilles of the Polish Air Force. |
Shado,
you are great buddy. Your skins are fantastic. When will we see a Bf110 or a JU88 skin? What about a Wellington? Keep up your great work. Thanks mate |
