Rattlehead 06-03-2011 07:19 PM

 On my 5th replay :), Jafa, thanks, seriosly

Ivan Fooker 06-03-2011 08:10 PM

Without music i could have enjoyed it more to be honest.
Always a bad idea to present a sound mod, doesnt matter for what game ever, with music sample in background.
Maybe you got a version without it?
Thx for ya work!

philip.ed 06-03-2011 08:11 PM

LOL Jafa, I'm not sure everyone knows exactly who you are

Made the great sound mods for 1946,

smink1701 06-03-2011 08:57 PM

Great, great, great. One suggestion...I would turn down the volume just a bit on the MGs in cockpit view. In cockpit mode from being in single engine planes the roar of the engine would be very loud but the guns would be a bit muted. Either way...BRING IT.

Hey jafa, will we ever get the spitfire splutter sounds, i remember them in 1946, as the spit went into the distance you could hear it splutter

I wouldnt no, because i no nothing about moding:(

Yes , sorry , been meaning to reply but forgot and also I think something fishy is going on as my game has changed itself overnight without any update, as for the sounds distance thing I haven't tested it yet or the twins either , keep an eye on your mail mate im going to send you my sounds at some point over the next few days for a second opinion if you dont mind.

Great work jafa. However:) You are the greatest Bunny;)..hihi... THANK YOU SO MUUUCH for your work and time who you spend you for this sim. Iam so nervoes for this great sound mod....rrrooaarr.:)

Have a good time, with your family too

Strike 06-04-2011 01:48 PM

To be honest, the engines sound great, but the clarity of the gunfire is too good from inside the cockpit in my honest opinion. The BigPickle MGFF sounds are much more spot-on in a realistic gunfire sound aspect.

RedBatFlight made a soundmod for IL-2 called "Distant Sounds Mod" and it was excellent in both realistic distance sounds and gunfire/explosions. A fusion between his gunfire sounds and your engine sounds would be a wet dream.

http://www.youtube.com/user/RedBatfl.../4/9G8xWDyGwX8

I think the distance sounds are great, also the internal gunfire and distance external gunfire sounds great :)

Here is a "realistic" flyby with gunfire sound:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiChP...eature=related

As you can clearly hear, it's just "clapping" noises from relatively large guns (.50 cal).

The high-clarity metal clank sounds are for counter-strike, there I said it...

Heres a better attempt to re-create a real-life sound environment...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io4aeQ6A6Qk

Ok, gotta fly.

No way its not just me, mine did the same thing it worked then next day just stopped, working in third person also my modded gun sounds stop sometimes too. I thought it was something to do with my sample lengths or the formats they were in, I've litterally torn my mod to pieces and still get these problems even with just guns.

# Also the distance sounds are controlled by the game engine in COD, it fades the sound and changes the tone the greater the distance from the player camera etc

I'd be glad to help out mate :)

JumpingHubert 06-05-2011 04:18 PM

epic sounds jafa!

ZaltysZ 06-05-2011 05:41 PM

Physical barriers usually tend to attenuate higher frequencies more than lower ones. This means, that closed cockpit usually "eats" high pitch noises. For me it seems there are too much high frequencies in those cockpit videos (especially when shooting with MG/FF). Maybe it would sound better if stronger low pass filter were applied.

There really good filters out there that emulate closed spaces.

That clapping noise is bullet crack cause by the round exceeding the speed of sound. Of course you'd have to take the Doppler effect into account as well.

Tree_UK 06-07-2011 09:13 AM

Why doesn't luthier get involved in this, he claims it will take months to fix the sounds but you guys have got it pretty much sorted, come on Luthier get on board these guys deserve some credit and you could use their help right now.

It will take months to fix disappearing sound in MP. It has nothing to do wit how planes, guns sound.

tillobert 06-07-2011 07:11 PM

Hey jafa when do you release a first version of thi awesome XXXX??;)

skouras 06-07-2011 07:15 PM

same question:rolleyes:

BigPickle 06-08-2011 12:09 PM

The problem is Tree that we can only mod so much of the game as there are lots of missing things that need defining, for example if you want canopy slide noise or rushing air sounds etc they need to be defined within the code to pin a sound on them.
I'm really looking forward to hearing the repaired sounds in however many months but I'll be very dissapointed if they dont add all the rest of the things in that need doing.

fireflyerz 06-08-2011 04:59 PM

Pickle....pm mate.

smink1701 06-08-2011 06:47 PM

How about providing the sounds you have now...guns, engines, explosions...I'll take whatever ya got...and then adding new sounds when the developer codes them...wind noise, landing gear, cockpit switches, etc.:grin::grin::grin:

I know is a bit rude do requests over a mod work, but can you provide a list of changes ?, it will be useful.

Your effort is very appreciate thanks.

All the other stuff is just to make the install simple and trouble free, at the end of the day if your not happy just deleat the mod folder and the -mod=MODS\CMSound line from the launcher and everything returns to normal.

Yeah the install seems to be simple but for me it doesn´t work :(
I put the whole MODS folder into my il-2 cliffs of dover folder (I hope you mean the steam/steamapps/common.... folder?) and added the line to the launcher (steam/library/cliffs of dover/settings (I don´t know how it is in English, my Steam is in German) etc.). Nothing changed when I started the game and tried out my Bf-109 ...
Where was my fault? PLEASE help I want to test this mod sooo hard o.O

So what do i have to install from kegetys? The SFS mod tool and then the sound mod?

skouras 06-09-2011 07:10 PM

it seems that after the mod the engine of the 109 is overheats very quickly
something i missed here or is just me:rolleyes:
i delete the folder -FlightModels- inside the MOD and the problem disappears but i loose the howl sound effect from the 109
any solution

Doc_uk 06-09-2011 07:19 PM

brilliant sounds
but the weapons sound just changed, from your weapons, to what sounded very much like BigPickle's weapon soounds, befor he removed it.
I did make sure i removed it, befor i installed yours
It change after i went to exsternal views, and then back to cockpit view
And then changed back to yours, about 2 minutes later:confused:
But great sounds, none the less:grin:

Steuben 06-09-2011 08:00 PM

ähem it seems FM of the 109 is totally porked now! Lol

Much thanks for your hard work and access to your sound mod. Just went to the DL page and was wondering which file you need to install before your sound mod???

Thanks

Steuben 06-09-2011 08:36 PM

I found out its the SFS mod tool! The first in the list! Its weird but it seems the sound mod changed the FM of the 109!!!!!

My oh my! This should not happen 1c!!!

Rattlehead 06-09-2011 08:42 PM

I have strange 109 engine issues too...

But Holy Moly what an amazing mod this is! Truly remarkable...it has transformed the planes into totally different beasts. The planes really have a sense of identity now.

Amazing job.

Steuben 06-09-2011 08:55 PM

Ok now iam learning the FM of the 109 again! Not the first time! If you stay below 2500 rpm no Problem! Above the engine is dead! lol

skouras 06-09-2011 09:11 PM

13 ATA with 2400 rpm the engine dies
also full throttle with 2350 rpm
you have to set it to 2200 rpm to get 300-380 klm at best:confused::confused:

jt_medina 06-09-2011 09:20 PM

I can't open the file. I am using latest version of 7z. Any ideas?.

delete in the Flightmodel folder all files with *.fmd, to get back the "original" Flightmodel...

Awesome sounds!

Reminds me a lot the sounds of the first MOD for IL2FB!

Many thanks for this ! Downloading now....

~S~

335th_GRAthos 06-10-2011 02:24 PM

OK maybe I am with stupid, it is the first MOD I install in CoD but the engine sounds of the Bf109 and Spit do not seem to work.

Everything was installed correctly, I see the new pictures on the screen.

I checked by running launcher with the -dump option and looked at which files are loaded when flying a Bf109 (in the _dump\$core\samples directory).
It loads files (so it is working) but none of the Daimler.wav sound objects.

Did anybody have bigger success than me?

EDIT: SOLVED! I had removed the whole directory instead of removing only the .fmb :)
Nice sounds!

ATAG_Doc 06-10-2011 02:36 PM

You don't have any sounds at all?

I went ahead and charged into this last night intoxicated and was able to manage it ok.

I think it's working. Sounds a lot better.

skouras 06-10-2011 02:39 PM

did you put this http://www.kegetys.net/
place the mod folder inside the game directory
right click on the launcher to create a new one
and add to the target this "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\Launcher.exe" -mod=MODS\CMSound

hope this helps

csThor 06-11-2011 06:08 AM

They do sound very good, but I am very much curious as to what flight model modifications have to do with a soundmod? Their presence alone and the stuff they modify (I'll keep my speculations to myself to avoid a flamefest) makes me wary of ulterior motives ... Can anyone explain why fmd files need to be modified to make use of different sounds?

Gerfaut 06-11-2011 06:36 AM

The reason why is that there's a direct reference to engine sound file within the .emd file.
So you currently MUST modify the .emd file for implementing or tweaking a sound filename (which IMHO is a poor implementation choice, since FM-related files shouldn't be concerned by potential sound mods).

It's that simple...

fireflyerz 06-11-2011 08:36 AM

As has been said - parts of the god files had to be altered just to implement the daimler sound , the only other thing that was touched was the engine revs on the daimler as when the new sounds were introduced there were some initial rev problems , unfortunately the altered emd went out and needs to be replaced , thats all , no ulterior motive , nothing sinister , probably wont be enough though will it , never is here.

csThor 06-11-2011 09:52 AM

Problem is that slashing off a good 600rpm off the DB 610 rpm band makes my danger sense tingle. That is a problematic change and I have already seen some "WTF?" comments on other boards about that. :-?

PS: On the german UBI board people removed the fmd files without a problem. Before came complaints about a 109 "wallowing like a pig in warm mud".

fireflyerz 06-11-2011 09:57 AM

Can you not read what I just wrote  or do you intend to just keep going on about it.

furbs 06-11-2011 09:59 AM

i just got rid of the whole FM folder and im not having any probs.

csThor 06-11-2011 09:59 AM

Just saying as it is. No hard feelings, no "ulterior motive" on my part. :)

Heinz Laube 06-11-2011 10:02 AM

*.fmd (flightmodel )files are not needed for soundmod, EXCEPT u changing the engines for the plane...
link to the *.prs (sounddata) files for the engine sound, are in the *.emd (Engine data )file

Great sound mod, thanks Jafa.

Plt Off JRB Meaker 06-11-2011 03:21 PM

Jafa, please do not listen to the morons that moan on here, they are not speaking for the majority, they have no respect and are out of order.

Most of us on here are over the moon with this mod,for me it has made the sim come alive,no question.I could'nt go back to those dire sounds, now we have this mod,I also can't believe the devs even released this sim with them on it.

I can't imagine how long you must have spent on this mod but I'll wager you spent more time on it than the devs did in all the years they were creating this COD sim.

The people complaing need to sit down and try and come up with a masterpiece like this,it would then be blatantly apparant the hard work that is involved in these mods.

I know for one,I would'nt know where to start, and if I did,I'm dam well sure I could'nt come close this. gem.

Viva Jafa, please keep up the great work, there is a wealth of appreciation on here for you,and you don't need me to tell you;)

Been with CLoD from day 1 & IL-2 for years. This title, for me has been on the backburner & I have largely kept my comments & disappointments at bay because I know (from your previous works) that it's guys like you that will always breath such life & vigour into this title.
I'm not wishing to take anything away from the devs as they have attempted (are attempting) a great job at trying to satisfy everyone; it's just that, for me; sound IS up there as one of THE most important factors of any FLIGHT sim, particularly from a title that is using 2 such iconic engines as the basis of its SIM. These Beta sounds are truly awesome; & I for one (like many others on here), am so grateful for this ongoing work of yours.

S!
