a couple of ideas to have a sim that FEELS more realistic

first wonderwoman view is not right cause you cant see underneath the plane

but neither is cockpit on cause bars dont block view, we have two eyes

so i propose to make a cockpit that is a methamorphosis from a extreme right perspective and an extrem left perspective and with no bars at all, something that feels like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlJox...layer_embedded

on the other hand theres the problem of tags on tags off

the problem is that you normally use wide view but in reality see like gunsight view

well combine best from both worlds and give planes the position of wide view but the size of gunsight view to allow recognaisance

so it feels real thoug seems strange

in any art you make it more real by using tricks that are actually unrealistic

Yes they do... Yes they do. Two eyes or not, they sure do block the views.

raaaid 06-03-2011 03:53 AM

eyes are 10 cm apart

is there any bar bigger than 10 cm?

in case of war people really do think things :)

edit:

also this would help on uniformity on the online comunity

now theres so many ways to play the game its crazy, divide and you will win

Very true.

Even with binocular vision bars still obscure sight in that relative direction, the advantage IRL is in being to see around them by moving your head, not through them like Superman.

6DOF gives a simulation of this ability to change visual perspective but it's very limited.

Maybe with stereoscopic graphics a better simulation of binocular vision might be possible.

raaaid 06-03-2011 04:28 AM

yes im also waiting for the game to go stereoscopic

i use the cross eyed method

now i can even see double at will like if i was drunk :)

winny 06-03-2011 09:39 AM

Actually Raaid is right about cockpit bars not blocking vision.

Because you have 2 eyes you can see past narrow things without having to move your head..

If you're near a window try it..

Look at a lampost with one eye closed, cover it with one finger at arms length.

Open your other eye and now try and block the lampost with your finger.. You can't. You'll also notice you can see 2 of your finger.

It's just monocular versus binocualr. Obviously you can't get any depth perception with one lense so you can't see past things that in RL you'd be able to.

There's no way to recreate it using a standard monitor. It's either behind the cockpit bar or not.

Raaaid seriously......go outside.....I am genuinely concerned for your mental health.

JimmyBlonde 06-03-2011 11:51 AM

He's okay once you get past the language barrier thnig bongo, just very bright and very enthusiastic.

You know him in RL? Its the internet ffs, if I want to look bright ect I can with a little bit of wiki! Act a little slow to get the sympathy votes and wham I'm in.

i like you just fine the way you are a raid

Most Raiid detractors should ponder this for a while.

(It's a quote attributed to Einstein btw.)

There is no language barrier...I have spent plenty of time with people whose first language is not english and I understand them clearly, I really think Raaaid is either 7 years old, or is a bit simple mentally or is really just a different kind of troll or all of the above, nothing 'bright' about him at all but enthusiastic yes, Raaid has taken us on a journey through trying to run ClOD on a pocket calculator, trying to run the game at 16X speed to give the illusion of hypersonic flight  , the morality of killing in wartime, the list is surely becoming very strange and increasingly long.

I cant believe any of this topic is being taken seriously......I can't believe people need reminding we have 2 eyes 10cm appart that gives us stereoscopic vision........I can't believe the obvious difference between sitting 1m in front of a computer monitor and a real life cockpit isn't obvious enough.

raaaid 06-03-2011 01:20 PM

" I really think Raaaid is either 7 years old"

that and to be crzay its a great compliment for me thanks :), i usually call people kids as a compliment

who wants to be normal in this stupid wolrd :(

Thats good then I suppose........I really don't accuse you directly of being any one of those things, it's just the impression you give me, your response has confirmed you are just trying to be an oddball to get a reaction, which you achieve with success...kudos.

As for being 'normal' in this stupid world? by deffinition that would be the radical thing to do, I like being 'normal'.....it means I don't have to get tatoos or pierce every part of my body just so I can look like everyone else trying to be different.

raaaid 06-03-2011 01:33 PM

well and who would like this two ideas i propose? :)

my evil plan is to turn you into my friend :)

I won't be accusing Raaaid of being a scientist any time soon, I think the limitations we deal with on current computer hardware to run these kind of simulations are evident.....and I don't need a science degree to tell me that.

He has shown himself here to be simply different. You don't need to understand him, you either choose to read or participate in his threads or just ignore him.

A troll seeking problem? As for me, I've never seen raaaid be rude to, or insult anybody. He has taken more "flak" without negative reaction that many of us so called normal could, so he has character.

He has made me think sometimes with his aparently ridiculous proposals.

If you couldnt see an object narrower than your eyes are appart sword fighting wouldn't exist. There would just be sword killing. No matter how small an object, it would still block a portion of your view unless you put your head right up to it. In theory having two eyes just makes the bars appear thinner than they actually are because your seeing a small portion to the left and to the right of the bar depending on which eye is open / then combining the two views in your brain. That being said, I disagree with removing bars.

Agree 100%, but if I want that I go to the UBI forum.

You would fit right in with my group of friends.....I think they are all oddballs too ;)

Fair enough, I guess I just seem like a real spoilsport not being as 'charmed' by raaaid threads.

raaaid 06-03-2011 01:51 PM

dont woory ill post on topic here and leave the ot for my loved ubizoo :)

but im on topic here

edit:

also what does people think of my other point?

end with tags forever and use the trick that models art box artists use:

render planes in a wide view position with a gunsight view size

models artbox need no tags cause they do this

i would call it a mirage perspective

It's cool dude, each to their own.

I just don't like seeing someone called 'mentally ill' because they're different and I thought you might benefit from a different perspective.

I know raaaids threads can seem a bit self-indulgent but, honestly, sometimes they're really interesting.

ATAG_Dutch 06-03-2011 03:21 PM

Whatever happened to 'xylonX' or something like that?

Italian chap, always posting off the wall stuff.

He and raaaid were made for eachother.
