Fix the sound

Sound keeps going both in single and multiplayer. It is such a basic requirement and yet does not work consistently, sound cuts out randomly and sometimes returns.

How they can consistently release these broken patches is beyond me, it destroys confidence and raise the question over competence. I am giving up playing it at all for now until they can get the basics fixed.

You may want to consider the possibility that the problem is somewhere between the keyboard and chair since it works for everyone else? ;)

Oh sure, it could use some improvement but sound positioning and consistancy is working just fine. I used to get the "rolling" sound during take-off stuck playing throughout the whole mission but haven't even seen that happen since a couple patches.

So you might want to check your speaker settings in Windows being wrong or inconsistent with the game settings.

Good luck

Freycinet 05-20-2011 02:17 PM

With the latest patch I got the rolling sound back again. Also, I have the sound issues the first poster mentions.

Winger 05-20-2011 02:27 PM

Have the same problem too. 2 Sorties yesterday after patchinstall and both of em i encountered vanishing sound after like half an hour flying.
Then i updated my drivers (Soundblaster X-FI Fatality) and did another sortie. This time i flew like an hour and didnt have soundproblems. Well, i cannot say for sure but i hope the new drivers fixed it for me. It was late yesterday and i couldnt go on testing. Will do today and report if the soundbug is back or not.

+1

Flying a 110C4 yesterday multiplayer on Syndicater Server.

lensman1945 05-20-2011 02:49 PM

Ive had no problems since my first install - BUT since the last patch I too experienced a complete drop-out of sound at the start of a single player mission last night. The sound came back after about 1 minute.

Kankkis 05-20-2011 03:00 PM

I dont have soundproblems, but i use USB for sounds.

BigPickle 05-20-2011 03:05 PM

well i got a few full crashes that needed hard reset at the plug.
The sound buzzed like crazy when it happened maybe it is sound related or something like that.

Plt Off JRB Meaker 05-20-2011 03:09 PM

I have the latest patch and yes I have sounds disappearing too, mainly the enemy's engines.

drewpee 05-20-2011 03:14 PM

I had no probs until the last patch. Have to restart game to get it back. Bit hard with 109 vs-prop in a dogfight.

Works for everyone else? Have you read the latest patch thread? Also regarding the rolling wheels sound, I've had it since day one and I has been there ever since even though the developers insisted it was fixed. LOL! This is turning into top rate comedy, the developers fiddles with some new lightning effects whilst the sound engine isn't even working properly yet. For me, the point has been reached (reached it after the latest patch) where I simply don't care anymore. Fortunately I've got some grade A games backlogged that I'll be playing until CloD (beta) goes gold -for real this time- in July(?) and I'll check the game out again. Until then, World of Tanks is a good distraction + it's free!:)

Don't worry I'll still be in the forums checking out the progress of the game. After all, you have to appreciate the potential of the game, it's all about the potential, current state is irrelevant.;)

Doc_uk 05-20-2011 03:56 PM

I have the sound problem as well:(
This game Reminds me of a saying
1 step forwards, 2 Steps back:confused:

icetbag 05-25-2011 12:12 AM

I have a Gigabyte X58A-UD5 with onboard Realtek 7.1.

After the latest patch (and hotfix) I too had intermittent sound on MP servers. I went into the Steam > SteamApps > Common > IL-2 Sturmvovik Cliffs of Dover folder and deleted the following files:

:: conf.ini
:: confs.ini
:: confUser.ini

I kept my control bindings in a seperate backup file so I didnt have to remap them all again.

I then (in Windows 7) went and did the same thing in [C:] > Users > [Me] > My Documents > 1C SoftClub > IL-2 Sturnmovik Cliffs of Dover folder and deleted the same 3 files (left the bldconf.ini file in place).

I then launched Steam, right clicked on IL-2 CoD and went to Properties > Local Files Tab > Verify Integrity of Game Cache. Steam then re-created the 3 missing files.

Having looked at the new config files there where some noticeable changes between the previous config files and the new ones Steam just created.

Since then, I have not lost sound in a MP game, or the SP for that matter. Im also running GameBooster v2.3 and it has made a massive improvement to my FPS (not sure if that has had any effect on the sound issue).

Either the older cluttered config files are the cause, or its just coincidence that I havent had the issue since deleting them and getting Steam to create new ones.

Maybe worth a try to see if others have the same luck?

Only because chances are it IS your problem since it's more likely, statistically speaking considering only 3 people are getting sound drop outs. That would indicate logically that the patches haven't "broken" the sound.

So although anything is possible, given the indications it might be prudent to check your sound drivers and system stability than go off half cocked screaming that the sky is falling. Believe me there are enough things "broken" that need attention and if you want help with your sound problems it's far better to ask for help in the technical issues forum than driving your wah-mbulance through the front door of the place demanding the devs head on a platter.

Charvel you should check the Hotfix thread on this forum. A LOT of people are getting the sound problem, including me. It's only happened since the last retail patch and it only happens in MP for me.
A couple of solutions have been suggested but havent worked. I'm waiting for the next patch to fix it.

I have the latest drivers for the SB Titanium sound card, have no such problems with any other application, the system is very stable thank you. So how have I gone off 'half-cocked'? You speculating and in fact assuming that I had not checked these things and then blaming me for it is a strange attitude!

Also stop putting words in my mouth.

It is clearly evident that I am far from alone with the issue so I suggest you retract your accusatory and childish post.

Its a fact that almost everyone has soundproblems since the last patch. YOU are a minority if you dont have any.
Everyone i know who plays the game actually has the soundproblems. And everyone hase the same symptoms. This IS a bug that need urgend fixing. Besides the 109s Proppitch changespeed:)

I've been having a GREAT time in World of Tanks. It works.

Fills in the gaps between downloading the latest CloD patch, seeing that another patch is needed, and waiting for the next patch.

I too have the sound problems.

Please spare us and shut up. You're only making yourself look stupid.

Lots of people have the sound drop-out problem!

I and all my squadmates on CoD have the drop-out problem.

I've reinstalled new drivers for my XFi to no benefit.

But, I am beginning to wonder if it's related to using TS3 simultaneously. We use this all the time when onlline.

I'll try using Steam instead.

It seems much worse online.

I flew for a couple of hours off line last night with no problems, but on line it's land, restart game, hit fly and repeat.

I don't think so. I'm not using at this point TS3 or Ventrillo and I'm having sound problems on MP.

Haven't read the thread and I don't care what arguments there are but YES

THE SOUND CUTS OUT, PLEASE HOTFIX.

This happens with every guy in our clan without exception and I can see messages in chat from others too all the time. Some of our guys are now refusing to fly until this is fixed and I don't blame them either.

Seeker 05-25-2011 11:23 PM

This may sound odd, but I think it's server side, and it's the dedicated server.

Why?

My whole Clod flying squad has been having a lot of trouble with this, across a broad spectrum of HW and configs.

I noticed last night I could fly for hours off line, and a couple of squad mates said the same.

We gave up because of sound probs tonight, and a couple of us took turns running a mission on their game box, that's to say the non dedicated server, and sound, admittedly for a much smaller number of connected clients, was rock solid.

Ah, so it seems to be an online issue then, that explains it. The OP could have been more clear about that but I understand a post like that is often an exercise in frustration release and I should have given him a bit more slack.

I wouldn't over-dramatize it like that but I do apologize for hurting your feelings. The various bugs can be a frustrating exercise for everyone and I didn't realize you were referring to online play. Either way, even though you barely described anything in your first post about the problem it seemed like another useless rant about something that seems to work for most people offline at least. I probably should have gone easier on you all the same.

But then there are these winners...

Almost everyone? I'm the minority? Maybe in this thread.

Most of you seem to be ovulating or something this week because it's not like I have some sort of personal sway with Luthier, urging him to not fix the sound out of spite. Really, it's ok and I'm sure they have it at the top of the list for you above speed optimizations, broken AI, a working campaign, Launcher.exe crashes and other unimportant stuff like that. ;)

Oh princess, I'm so sorry I made you cry like that.

Look, If you promise not to cry anymore and type more hurtful, mean words at me over the internets I'll personally ask Luthier to buy you that pony!

There's a sport.

Seeker 05-26-2011 07:54 PM

Charvel, you're being a dick.

Not because you're not having sound problems, but because you belittle the people that have, and when called on it, resort to sexist insults.

Am I in a heavy flow week? I don't know, are you calling me a cunt?

And no, I don't need some red text telling me profanity and meanness well get me banned, what I need are moderators that take sexism, homophobia and trolling seriously.

Redroach 05-26-2011 08:18 PM

charvel, sorry, it might not please you, but it IS a widespread bug. And one that's pretty (multiplayer-)game-breaking, too. I've encountered it as well , so I certainly believe the others.
And you know I would be the first one to ridicule false bug-reports (I should get paid from 1C for helping to sort things out beforehand  ).

Fair enough. I'm not trying to harsh anyone's bugs just because I don't have them and really, 1C doesn't need me to defend them. The only thing I was commenting on originally was the uselessness of the OPs original post and others that tend to blame the devs without thinking it could even possibly be on their own end.

If it's not I apologize to the OP despite his post that doesn't really serve any purpose other than to blow off steam since, as everyone is saying, goes on and on in another thread. Besides, if this is an online thing, he never mentioned that or anything relevant, just...rant.

Then you get your other butthurt ladies clutching their pearls in indignation as if I stole their purse, and ironically, doing the same thing they're accusing me of. But that's ok i dont have to run home crying to mom cause someone said mean words to me. Grow a pair and move on. :D
