BONFIRE mod
The Bonfire Mod
Bonfire is sort of a random generator, or as close to as it can be. It uses the WoTn Ice'n Fire game structure, but with new maps. Futures: - A Heroes 4 inspired mod, like a completely new KB game, a whole new experience awaits !!!! - Challenging gameplay. Playing no-loss is not always possible! You will be challenged to think out of the box. - Short games: Choose to play until level 10, 15, 20 or Endless (normally around level 22). - 15 Heroes to choose between. - 9 Companions/Pets: Choose a companion, a creature that fights with you on the battlefield as a 6th stack, but with only 1 in it. It grows in stats when the hero levels up. - 8 completely new maps made in the KB editor along with the starting map which is the Tungsinn map re-done. All with a lot of randomness and new dungeons too! - 45 new arenas. You will also find WoTn arenas, but 45 are completely new. - Each time you play the order you take the maps are different - the enemy grows in strength when the hero level up. - You only have a few skills in the skill tree from the start, when you level up you can choose between just 1 skill from each skill tree along with a random boost. - Collect Woodpiles for building buildings in the countryside. - Build your starting castles that also have room for buildings inside (a little like the Heroes of Might and Magic games). - No WoTn quests. Few other quests. - Upgrading and Surpressing items are much easier. - new medals, items and spells (the last 2 mainly the same as in the Hylfire mod). - and much more!! INSTALLATION: - find the original WoTn game at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common and rename the "Kings Bounty - Warriors...." to for instance "Kings Bounty - Warriors... ORIGINAL". - unpack the packed download to same directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common, and start a new game by choosing "BONFIRE" (if you want to play the original game again, then just rename the mod to for instance "Kings Bounty - Warriors... Faq
If you find inbalances in the game (creatures, heroes, spells, items etc) or bugs, please let us know by making a post here in the forum, this way we can make a patch later.
Also if you have trouble, since it's a new game style, let us know. FAQ: -Which hero is best to start with the first time? Some heroes have an easier start than others, for instance in the Yielder class, the Fire Monger is a good first timer hero. It is a mage with focus on fire spells, having Flaming Arrow from start plus you get a Flaming Arrow scroll after each fight. This is a great help early on but useless later (ofc you can trade the scrolls for a little gold). Choosing the Ice Mage can be more difficult early since it has more tactic spells which is useful later. All Rogue classes are fine, you can build on the Summoning Skill you have which works like an extra stack of creatures that automatically are summoned at the beginning of a fight. And most important: Bonfire is harder than WoTn so choosing the Normal difficulty is... normal ! - What is the most important to start building/buying in town? In most games it is building the castle for 3 Kill Proofs, you have 1 from the start so you need to kill 2 easy ones... When you build the castle you get a lot of experience, units of level 1-3 to hire, buying/selling scrolls and items and able to stock troops. Sometimes building a building or two in the landscape for 2 woodpiles each is doable to see which units you can hire, in case you want to have an alliance in the same race when you build the castle. After castle building often building the inn up to max is a good choice, because you get 25 Leadership each time you do that, and you can buy troops/items/scrolls here. Dumlor is later a choice, or you could gamble, because each time you build you get free units and scrolls and a chance of free items. In some games if you have build the Arena by Arturok, buying a companion for 3 Kill proofs before building a castle is a choice, if you have a tough start. After that the main focus is to collect 10.000 Gold to buy a map. BTW Dumlor has a good chance of giving a Teeth for free when building the level 4 building besides getting a level 5 (you can find Teeth at different locations in Dansken, not a guarantee to find all 5, but the chance is there). - I need Woodpiles!!! In some games Woodpiles are harder to find, that is random... a must is to build a Sawmill in the starting castle. You get 0-1 Woodpiles after each fight, but you have to return to castle to pick them up. You always get exactly 1 woodpile for fights in Bonbong Land, but only 0-1 on all other maps. So building a sawmill asap is rewarded. The building you build are made out of a random pool of around 30 different buildings, some with free units/items/scrolls, others with level 5 etc. - I can't find Bandril the Mapmaker: There is ALWAYS a mapmaker on each map, he is always on the surface, never in a dungeon. In the starting map he only appears after a quest in the dungeon "Mountain Realm" - a quest hut that looks like a mushroom. Bandril will be at random locations each time you play. In the Bonbong Land for instance, he can be at 8 different random locations. - Where is Randy the drunkard? He is always on Bonbong Land, either in the starting town at different locations or at the island to the North West. - I can't find a ship at Bonbong Land: You can always talk to a guy at the docks and he will grant you a new ship. - I can't get 10k Gold for the first map: Sell Woodpiles to Martha and recipies, even sell an item! If you have the League of Assassin building you can sell Kill Proofs for Gold. Sell scrolls. Use cheap creatures from eggs etc. Forget about playing no-loss games, think out of the box! In some games surviving is more important... Another hint is choosing the Economist Skill (Middle Skill tree) if it shows, in the first level you can get 10k here and now for just 2 invested Spirit Runes along with 2% after battle (fully developed that skill gives 100k here and now total). - Game is too hard on impossible: Yes, sometimes because of randomness, but that is part of the fun. Impossible is more difficult than a normal WoTn so Easy-Normal-Hard are fine too! Often games will be easier from level 4 when you have the rage skill, Round Attack. After building a building you can also ask Broth the Builder next to Acrimaldo in the hero menu to craft an item for 1-2-3 Runes depending on the level og item and the number of buildings you have build. That can sometimes be a help, but it is a gambling.... and you use runes, still I often use his crafting skills, just can't help it... too curious to see what he offers. - My rage skills doesn't develope. You get Icewall as hero level 3, Round Attack at level 4, and at level 5 you will meet Christa where you can buy Christa's Gift. Remember to talk to her to make the rage skills start developing. - Troops are getting stronger when I return later in game, why? Since you can go anywhere in the Dansken World after the 1st map, we had to make the challenge according to hero level, else it would be a normal KB game where you did the maps in roughly the same order. They grow around 100% faster on Impossible than on Easy Difficulty. They grow by adding X amount of troops when your hero level up, so higher level units are getting stronger compared to lower levels. In this way you are rewarded if you take difficult fights early instead of just taking level 1-2... But ofc you have to survive early... - How does trooptalk work? Now and then Acrimaldo offers a trooptalk to your level 1-3 units. Most of them can give a bonus like +2 Mana, +1 Attack once etc., it is all listed in the file Trooptalk.txt which you have in the downloaded zip file. Trooptalk also work on your Reserve (we have tried to make it work only for the fighting units, just don't know how yet). This mod hopefully makes lower units more interesting to use and trooptalk is one of the things that helps on that. Only the Undead LIzardmen and Ice Elves don't have trooptalk, but these races are so strong anyhow imo. |
I'm working on the items. Some of the items have info about what affects the Morality if they have Morality on them, but not all. Adding info for more items, same with info about what you will get when you upgrade an item.
Let me know if you have comments to items, I will make a small zip file you can download and unzip unto the mod with the changes when I'm finished. IMO some of the low level items I made for the Hylfire mod, is not worth a lot, so I will add upgrade for some of them and make new sets. |

Maybe turn off firewall in windows or something when downloading? Or lowering your Security in Windows. |
The Upgrading and Surpressing fights are the last and most un-tested in the mod, we have reduced the fights a lot, often gremlin towers have only 80-270 Health. In some cases I guess fights can be too easy compared to the reward, so let us know if you find any unbalances.

About upgrades: The first upgrade of Bronze Ring seems to be about right: impossible at level 5 but doable at level 7. The second upgrade could be somewhat tougher compered to the first, though. Snake Ring feels too easy considering it's price and level.
Is there still supposed to be free stuff there? Pirate Lair has no price on units and other stuff. |
The buildings have not been changed since your test games. Some are free (zero price on them).

raknefne, please check in your save: are you propesed different skills on level-ups? It seems to me I was propose the same on 3 and 4 level up, may be I am wrong.
I am on 4 level, got yotun and has army of griffins with statue. |

So, what's the story with ending the game at a certain level vs. endless game?
I started a new game on Impossible. The hero has only 1 skill, scouting - interesting. I go underground, get 8 cannons and I start a fight back on the world map vs a 'very weak' stack. As soon as the combat starts, I am told "You have been defeated". I don't get it. |

You have to earn the skill, when you level up, you get a random set of skill choices, 1 from each skill tree, for instance as pic shows: Attachment 15428 Only then you can start developing the skill you choose. OFC you can also choose a random boost instead, it can be +6 mana/rage, +3 mana/rage, att/def/int/gold, but random which you get of boost. That's the choice in the bottom with text. In most cases it will be +1 att/def/int, rarely +2 att/def/int, sometimes +3/6 mana-rage, always gold. I suppose, if you haven't played Hylfire which this mod builds on, there're a lot of changes!! Have patience, it will all make sence in time. |

I'm working on updating items, adding text info for items with Morale or Upgrade (so you can see what you get, or how morale works on that item). Also new items, this is an item from Hylfire, that were set to off, so you didn't see it, active now, and made it Dead Lizardmen since there ain't so many of those race items:
Attachment 15429 I made this Lizard/LIzardead set, the shield is a Hylfire item I changed a bit, it need to be upgraded to be a Lizzy Set item, also the Ring has to be upgraded twice to be a set item (and still ok fights, easier than normal): Attachment 15430Attachment 15431 As you can see I have also added text of what you get when you upgrade the item. Especially helpful for new items. The level 1 boots that give +1 Def and +3% crit, I changed into upgradeable as well, +1 Def, +2% crit, that can be upgr. to +1 Def, +5% crit. :) Not in the current version 1.0 you are playing, not until the next update. |
So I am on 5 lvl, and again it seems to me I was proposed the same bonus as on 3 and 4 level-up. I made screen and will compare it with option on 6 level up. I killed all enemy armies on first island and got Hopland map. My army: 1 black dragon, 1 yotun, 4 griffin, 2 royal griffin, and archmage.

Game might be playable on impossible for a warrior, but I started with a mage (tried three times due that 'randomness' factor you mentioned) and but I always got stuck because there are not enough troops and the magic is not strong enough to get out of fights unscratched.
You might want to make adjustments. For now, I am ditching the impossible difficulty; I will revisit once it's been tweaked. Thanks! Edit Playing on hard, seems to be better. I got the Artifactor skill - so how do I make artifacts? All right, got stuck on hard, too. I did not loose any troops, I even had some tier3(?) units joining me, but there is not enough leadership to use those units (they require 450). Seems I don't have luck with on 'hard' either... Thanks! |
Coffin on one arena of Hopland provide 57 skeletons, this was mentioned as fixed.

When you have 3 Kill Proofs, you can pay Kanis in the starting town, he will build a castle, in that castle you can choose an alliance - you also get exp for doing that... so you can get it after just 2 fights since you havce 1 KP from the start

After playing the game yesterday together with Terroin we have these comments to adjust in next patch:
Scary Abonimation Companion: Still bugged (Xev mentioned that in the Hylfire mod which has the same companion in Bonfire), as level 4 mage it sometimes casted an overpowered spell with 2700-3700 damage!! Don't choose this companion in version 1.0. We will change that for 1.1. Mine building in the starting castle: A little overpowered, gives gold too often, we will lower that in 1.1 Enemy growth: At observation after we changed the growth times after the tests. In the tests enemy also grew when you clicked on them until they reached a certain limit. Not in 1.0 - seems fights gets too easy later in 1.0 - should be as in the tests but without the growth when clicking on them. Trooptalk with flies: At the moment you have a 50% chance to get 1 dragon out of each 10 flies (red or green), we will lower that in 1.1 to for instance 25%. |
Ice Mage
I started playing an Ice Shaper yesterday - the Ice Mage type.
I played on impossible and focused my choices on getting as much mana as possible: 1: Chose Temple to get up to +5 mana limit through time. 2: A bit lucky with items giving mana 3: Chose Wisdom Skill After some houres of playing, I was lvl. 4 and my battles went pretty easy, when choosing the right ones. My alliance was Ice Elves and had Snowflake Fairy, Ice Nymph, Scout, Druid from normal Elves and Ice Thorns.. I was able to use spells to my advantage in different battles .. in some I used the Ice Ball spell, to have a great melee tank which keeps the enemy busy.. in other battles, I used the round attack spell or frost dragon spell.. Go after intellect, as it greatly helps buffing the Ice Ball or the damage from the spells.. didnt use Ice Prison .. My experience is, that the Ice Shaper hero is good for players wanting to adapt to different battles. Its for players who has flair of creating good strategies.. not for those going after leadership and strenght in numbers. I dont even have a companion yet but stil im beating armies stronger than mine without loss! If you are having trouble with a specific kind of hero or hero class.. then maybe its just not for your type of playing.. that doesnt mean the game/mod is faulty or it should be changed.. you must aim to become better.. actually make an effort.. Happy gaming peops! |

You can buy the skills at certain hero levels. When you talk to her you can buy Golden Trap at level 5, 1 or 2 skills at level 10, one at level 15. The price can be gold / runes etc.

A problem or two
Hi. Found your mod other mod and hoped over to this one once you released it. Looking good so far but have a question or two (they might be bugs on my end).
First one. How do I get my subclass in this one. seen posts saying you get the like the other mod. I'm guessing it's Arturok I need to talk to as he's right next to where I load in but he doe's nothing. Load's up a empty shop screen. Also seen he's supposed to make a building but doesn't do that either. Secondly. The rage skill round attack crashes straight to desktop when used. Makes the game a bit more difficult. Not sure how to get screen shots for this to help. I'm guessing I'm installing it wrong somehow but it's just a extract to the right place so... Anyhow great mod. Hope to see more from you two. Last one I had no problems with. |

Yup, I'm at level 10 now and the new islands have mostly very weak or weak armies. I am waiting for the update.
The beginning of the mod can be very hard: I had to quit one game (at normal level!) where all the remaining armies on Bongbong land were very strong and capable of wiping my army out. In another try I would have had to do the same, had I not found a Jarl's Helmet and the extra 200 leadership from there. But that's okay, that's what I like here. I got once stuck during a battle. I suspect that the problem was with the gold pile (created by the Valkyrie) and the Cannon unit beside it, but I didn't explore it further. I'll check this out if I have a chance later. |

About getting stuck with valkyrie: Can you remember which map and which area? It could be the arena info about valkyrie. If it is you can just return to windows and back to the game and it continues. We had some troubles with Fryseland, is it that map? If it is this bug, it is very easy to fix. Item upgrade: Any comments on upgrading items? Too easy or still too difficult? Being able to upgrade som items from level 7 is ok IMO since it is shorter games. Tough starts: I can have tough starts on impossible too, but it is somehow manageable for me since I know the game, so with experience of the mod it will help (ofc in some games patience is needed until level 4). Also we have added a bigger reward from Skillix, often experience to level faster. From level 4 it is easier with round attack. Let us know about bugs or balances (units, items etc) since we're wrapping up the version 1.1 now. |
I start to upgrade some my items at 10 lvl. And yes, I met more often easy armies.

Upgrading items at level 10: Steel Band and Kerian Shoes felt a bit easy, whereas Comander's Cloak was hard enough.

Thanks for the nudge. Seems I unpacked it to much. works fine now for all. Had got to level 9 before but with no class (and no starting exp.) it got a bit to hard to continue that game. The gold from crista rage ability and the cannon trying to pick it up I've had too. Can't remember map though. I just reloaded and didn't use the rage skill on a cannon again.

Cannon is a creature from the Hylfire mod, it probably doesn't have all the animations it "should"... Ethric's freeze up has to do to with an installation issue.

Main changes for the Bonfire v. 1.1 which will be out soon:
- Enemy grows faster when u level up (due to a bug in 1.0 enemies didn't grew as fast as in the test games!) - Trooptalk: the flies that could give dragons (50% chance) are reduced to 25%. Inkvisitors transforming into Rune Mage cost 2 Magic Runes (was 1). - Acrimaldo offers scrolls before a fight: more versatile, adjusted a lot. A lot more different scrolls in the random pool. - You can now talk to Acrimaldo and he can tell you which kind of game you play (until level 10-15-20-endless). - Medal adjustments. (Was lowered too much after test games). But Treasure Hunter is now 15% max (was 10%) - About half the chance of getting random stats if you choose NO SKILL when leveling up, but still always 100% sure of gold/crystals. - A little higher chance at the League of Assassins building to get set items. - The Mine in town has been reduced to half the chance to get crystal/gold. - Companion Scary Abonimation bug is fixed (could give insane damage with its spell). Now it summons 1 Cudly abonimation (level 3 creature) from level 4 with a reload and has a chance of attracting Cudly abonimations after the fight for the heroes army. The Cudly's are not fully developed yet. The Cudly's summoned in fight are always just 1 also late game, but the reload is reduced. - More places to find the Dragon Teeth to combine (5 are needed). Read the info in 'Bonfire Sets Guide.docx' which is in the same directory as this file. Still not 100% guarantee you find all 5 Teeth. - The starting castle can be taken by bandits! Releative easy fight. (was in the code in 1.0 but didn't work...) - Different minor bugs are fixed. - Pyromage’s fireball is reduced a little. Giant's Initiative reduced from 7 to 5. - Skill Learning: Increases to 25% exp and 5 Intellect when fully developed. - Skill Scouting: Only 4 runes to develop each level (was 5). - Christa the Valkyrie: When offering regalias now getting 1% - 3% - 5% - 7% - 10% (Was max 5% - not sure if level 5 works, in wotn you needed to do a quest and we havent tested this). - Skeletons in a coffin on the battlefield was overpowered. "Should" be fixed now. Else let us know. - Strange texts on some buildings build: "Should" be fixed now (we hope). - The Infiltrator Hero (Rogue class): Added level 2 Weakness spell and Chargers to the spell book. - The Farmer Hero (Warmonger class): Added Healing and Haste spells for the spell book. Harvesting is only 1 Gartner per Intellect (was 2, overpowered). - The Call of Death spell is cheaper on all levels now, and the level 1 only cost 8 mana but with 400 Leadership instead of 500. - Dumlor now gives a very good bonus for doing his building quest. Item changes: - Items with an upgrade option have text information on what to achieve. It was only done on some of them in v. 1.0 - Items with leadership 200+ are harder to find now. Kind of makes the start too easy if you find it before level 5 or so. - Musket of Thunder: Now 40% damage to canoneers and +5 attack to shooters. (I never bought it before with 20% damage). - Dragon's Quiver, changed to Fine Quiver. -10% leadership req for bowmen (was 5%). No scrolls to extract. Cheaper. - Courtly Garb and its upgrade now gives physical resistance instead of leadership req to bowmen, swordsmen and gardeners. - Ogre Set: now 1000 Leadership, 10% physical resistance to troops (was 2500 Leadership only - too overpow if found in this mod) - Ancient Mage Set: Increased to +9 Intellect/Mana, 25 extra slots for the spell book. The Leaky Cup which is a part of the set is increased from 10% extra mana to 15% (still gives -5 Intellect) - New set: The Pissling Set (Invisible Armor and Used Up Sword: +2 att/def to all units, +1 Speed and +10 Phys. Resistance to allied level 1-3). Terroin and I never used these items, so I added a set bonus. Remember the Invisible Armor DO NOT have a picture... hehe, its invisible, it's not a bug. |
Found a bug in Hrasken map: the army in the castle area can have a hero "arturok" who ONLY should be in Bonbong Land. Bug is fixed in version 1.1 but if you see him, DON'T TALK TO HIM.

Terroin doesn't have so much time these days... so it takes a bit before 1.1 is out. Until then you can either play just to level 10 or when travelling to another map, try going from map A to map B and back a few times, then enemies grow to the right strength. It is fixed in 1.1. In this case you can play any game 10-15-20 or endless.
Anyway this seems so far to a forum for the few... there has been only around 50 downloads on the mod, but we haven't advertised any place yet (other than here on 1C). We will do that after version 1.1. I guess there are many other games out there and WoTn's reputation is not that great. I'm 49 years old and don't wanna try a lot of games, if I have found one I like I play that and not much more... especially when modding it is more fun, trying new stuff out I've made myself. |
What to do with "interesting bird" on Pnelve? It ate 9 killproofs and nothing happen. I am on 13 lvl. att-33, def-26, int-15.

it is random - can't remember the % - if the bird agrees to give a location of a hidden treasure. keep talking to it... or give the ent sprouds, same chances of succes.

well, i noticed the game crash when i re-sail to Fefne Islands and that happened only after i discovered Fynnen Islands. i had only three Islands: Bonbong, Fefne, and Fynnen . i noticed i can sail between Fefne and Fynnen through one icon on the map, is that normal? |

I haven't had that bug nor did Terroin. Did you install it correctly, first rename or delete old WoTn directory, then unpack the downloaded Bonfire (never overwrite)? If you installed it correctly, I'll write it down and observe it.
Terroin is coming over Thursdag the 15th and we check the uploaded version 1.1, if there are no problems, it will be released Friday the 16th. About creature growth: When you get to a new map some creatures may be too easy, but they will quickly increase in strength on that map, getting stronger after each fight to fit your current hero level. We couldn't make it any other way, in the test versions enemy could grow just by clicking on them, and that didn't work. The positive side is that you will have some easy fights the first time you get to a new island, but only a few. We had a strange bug in our tests of 1.1, it's and old bug we "should" have fixed: Sometimes a big red ball were sometimes shown at places where there could be random things like shrines, egg, scrolls etc. It was rare, we will check that in our tests tomorrow, it has to do with the right placement of certain files. But often 1 or 2 tests are not enough. We hope that will be fixed for 1.1 else it will be a small inconvenience. |
Want to tell a little about us:
Terroin is 41 years old, I'm getting 50 later this year. But our minds are "childish", creative. I do some art with stone sculpture and mosaik paintings, and have a hobby with mapmaking/modding. Terroin is very good at getting new ideas for projects. We work very well together, he often bring up ideas, I balance them. And for the last half year or so I also did mapmaking for KingsBounty. We are old friends living 14 km from each other in Aarhus, Denmark. I tell the jokes, he sometimes laugh... I did a lot of campaigns for the Heroes of Might and Magic 4, for instance the "Hundred Years War" which is a historic campaign about the war between England and France. I made it together with an American who did the research and wrote the text. So mapmaking is not new to me. I was talking about a Bonfire 2 at some point, at the moment we are having some problems with that... so no guarentee... but we keep improving / fixing bugs for Bonfire 1 thru this forum, so keep posting. |

i started a new game and got Skrumpeland as a second Island but then i got Fefne as the third .. i'll avoid Fynnen. by the way, i'm 53 years old :) thanks a lot |

I too have installed the bonfire mod....and am loving it. I have a few problems with inaccessable cottages/houses, a bunch of birds on a side Island that I can't talk too. But that's not game-breaking. I have the same problem with Fynnen (I think, will look it up when I'm at home) : I also crash whenever I try to sail to it from any other Island....and that's a major bummer ;) |
I'm 59 and turn-based games are my favourite, too. I play old favorites and seldom start a completely new game for me. I blame ingame or digital manuals. I miss the time of printed manuals.

ok, thx, what probably went wrong with Fynnen is because it didnt have a minimap, we added that and also so you could sail to it, but it is thru a portal from Fefne Islands you get to Fynnen Islands. I'll check.

Version 1.1 is out!!! - - - you find the link in the first topic. I haven't had time to fix the Fynnen Island bug, so DON'T SAIL TO FYNNEN THRU THE SEA PORTAL IN FEFNE ISLAND. IF YOU DO, DO IT WHEN YOU HAVE CLEARED ALL IN FEFNE AND ONLY INTEND TO DO FYNNEN JUST ONCE. ELSE THE GAME WILL CRASH IF YOU SAIL TO THIS PLACE LATER. SORRY FOR THAT, BUT DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO FIX IN THIS VERSION. I HOPE YOU CAN LIVE WITH THAT.
When you get to a new map, some fights can seem too weak, but they will grow quickly enough after each fight to suits your current hero level (we couldn't fix the enemy growth any other way at the moment). The changes regarding spells, creature and items will appear in loaded games also - else you have to start a new game. The patch changes are also included as a file in the download, which are: Main changes for Bonfire v. 1.1: - Enemy grows faster when u level up (due to a bug in 1.0 enemies didn't grew as fast as in the test games!) - Trooptalk: the flies that could give dragons (50% chance) are reduced to 25%. Inkvisitors transforming into Rune Mage cost 2 Magic Runes (was 1). - Acrimaldo offers scrolls before a fight: more versatile, adjusted a lot. A lot more different scrolls in the random pool. - You can now talk to Acrimaldo and he can tell you which kind of game you play (until level 10-15-20-endless). - Medal adjustments. (Was lowered too much after test games). But Treasure Hunter is now 15% max (was 10%) - About half the chance of getting random stats if you choose NO SKILL when leveling up, but still always 100% sure of gold/crystals. - A little higher chance at the League of Assassins building to get set items. - The Mine in town has been reduced to half the chance to get crystal/gold. - Companion Scary Abonimation bug is fixed (could give insane damage with its spell). Now it summons 1 Cudly abonimation (level 3 creature) from level 4 with a reload and has a chance of attracting Cudly abonimations after the fight for the heroes army. The Cudly's summoned in fight are always just 1 also late game, but the reload is reduced. - More places to find the Dragon Teeth to combine (5 are needed). Read the info in 'Bonfire Sets Guide.docx' which is in the same directory as this file. Still not 100% guarantee you find all 5 Teeth. - The starting castle can be taken by bandits! Releative easy fight. (was in the code in 1.0 but didn't work...) - Different minor bugs are fixed. - Pyromage’s fireball is reduced a little. Giant's Initiative reduced from 7 to 5. - Skill Learning: Increases to 25% exp and 5 Intellect when fully developed. - Skill Scouting: Only 4 runes to develop each level (was 5). - Christa the Valkyrie: When offering regalias now getting 1% - 3% - 5% - 7% - 10% (Was max 5% - not sure if level 5 works, in wotn you needed to do a quest and we havent tested this). - Skeletons in a coffin on the battlefield was overpowered. "Should" be fixed now. Else let us know. - Strange texts on some buildings build: "Should" be fixed now (we hope). - The Infiltrator Hero (Rogue class): Added level 2 Weakness spell and Chargers to the spell book. - The Farmer Hero (Warmonger class): Added Healing and Haste spells for the spell book. Harvesting is only 1 Gartner per Intellect (was 2, overpowered). His old 4 animal spells have increase Health. - The Call of Death spell is cheaper on all levels now, and the level 1 only cost 8 mana but with 400 Leadership instead of 500. - Dumlor now gives a very good bonus for doing his building quest. - The spell Lynchmob now cost a little more mana. Item changes: - Items with an upgrade option have text information on what to achieve. It was only done on some of them in v. 1.0 - Items with leadership 200+ are harder to find now. Kind of makes the start too easy if you find it before level 5 or so. - Musket of Thunder: Now 40% damage to canoneers and +5 attack to shooters. (I never bought it before with 20% damage). - Dragon's Quiver, changed to Fine Quiver. -10% leadership req for bowmen (was 5%). No scrolls to extract. Cheaper. - Courtly Garb and its upgrade now gives physical resistance instead of leadership req to bowmen, swordsmen and gardeners. - Ogre Set: now 1000 Leadership, 10% physical resistance to troops (was 2500 Leadership only - too overpow if found in this mod) - Ancient Mage Set: Increased to +9 Intellect/Mana, 25 extra slots for the spell book. The Leaky Cup which is a part of the set is increased from 10% extra mana to 15% (still gives -5 Intellect) - New set: The Pissling Set (Invisible Armor and Used Up Sword: +2 att/def to all units, +1 Speed and +10 Phys. Resistance to allied level 1-3). Terroin and I never used these items, so I added a set bonus. Remember the Invisible Armor DO NOT have a picture... hehe. - Feather Armor (3 Defense to Griffins), changes to 3 levels of upgrade from 4 Defense Griffins to +6 Defense/Attack of Griffins and 20% Physical Resistance. New pictures. - Unfinished Dress (-1 Defense, +4 Mana), changes into: Unfinished Armor also 3 upgrade levels into max +6 Mana, +2 Mana per round. New pictures. |
All right, it's goodbye to my latest game, where I played to level 11. I chose the Archer companion and then was lucky to find three different Human and Elf archer units on the first island (eventually accompanied by Archmages and Royal Thorns). I guess I've seen what they can do together.

Grass Jacket isn't giving +5 rage as stated.
I did some experimenting with Krista's Golden Trap and new units: Rats were thrown in the air, but when I tried to do the same for Barriers, the game froze (reloading works, though). So my hypothesis about new units seems to have some truth in it. Otherwise I'm having great fun, of course. |
so rats worked ok, but not barriers? Is that what you mean? I write it down for future patches.

Would 57 Skeleton Warriors from a coffin be a bit too many? Considering that my leadership would allow only 18 or so. Luckily they were on my side, though. How does the game calculate their number?

I've encountered a problem: Helplessness quest isn't working. I get the quest, I buy the 4 spells, and when I return to the guild, I get no reaction from the guild.
Then I'm wondering about fire damage for a creature that is in flames. It seems mostly to be only 1 point. If an ice creature (they were of the flying faerie type) suffers two-digit number of cold damage, the damage isn't balanced. One more thing: Green Dragon's mana ability seems to be useless now: I tried it several times and got 0 - 1 mana with it. I apologize I present this feedback now and not while testing. I can only say that now both my sons have moved from home and now I have access to our PC that plays this mod without crashes. Besides, this mod is still so much more fun and much more original and creative than eg. Darkside. |
I've started a new session (due to the island travelling bug), but in my previous game I experienced both the helplessness problem and also the green dragon one.
Looking at my current game : crystal collector doesn't seem to give awards (have 27 crystals and it shows as 10/20). I also noticed in a fight with vikings they got 8 (!!!!) turn guardian angels from their skalds, seems a bit much :) Yet I'm still over the moon with some new utterly enjoyable new King's Bounty game, so thanks again for all the work ! |
Strange : I found 2 crystals.....got the award and now it says 35/40.
