Rendobj.dll flagged

Anyone else getting an issue with tihs being blocked at run because of a win32/heur virus?

I've deleted the file and then revarified the game cache but even the newly downloaded one is flagged as a virus by AVG.

I see on google search there was a thread on this on 1c but it has been removed, any resolution? since the game cannot currently be run with this file flagged as a virus.

Ever hear of false positives?

Ignore.

Add to exceptions. ;)

JG53_Valantine 03-31-2011 12:38 AM

Yep, of course however it still comes up as AVG has no way of adding to exceptions as far as I am aware

Disable AVG?

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that its a false positive.

That requires disabling AVG whilst playing, sorry but in this day and age I;m not going to have my computer connected to the net without the anti virus.
I'll have to see if there is a way to get it into exceptions for AVG properly
Cheers though

Whatever.

I always find it amusing when folks actually believe that a wall filled with virus stands outside their doorstep waiting to flow in as soon as you turn your AV off.

1. Its not the case
2. The paranoia is high as always.
3. Get a better AV than AVG

JG53_Valantine 03-31-2011 12:56 AM

When you run servers and your IP address is known by many people I'd rather not take the risk. Also, I'd rather run AVG than something like Norton cheers.

Anyhow, to help those who experience this issue you have to add the file to BOTH the normal exceptions list and also to the advanced list for resident shield. That way you can keep your AVG on and not have any issues in getting it to boot.
Nice and simple.

I had the same too mate, i posted a new thread here but the mods deleted it, the only way round it is to disable your anti virus im afraid.

Scanned with Comodo and clean.

JG53_Valantine 03-31-2011 01:14 AM

Tree, if you're using the latest AVG you don't need to disable it.

Go to the Resident shield, then find advanced settings, in that look for the esceptions list and add the file: bingo, it is added and you don't need to shut down AVG to play CoD. ;)

AVG mis flaggs a lot of .dll in my experience.. better safe than sorry.. but you;'ll have to shut it down to get it installed most likely..

AVG 2011 is complete junk. The previous versions were quite good but the latest software is terrible with false detects and being very resource hungry. If you want free anti virus get Avast! or Avira.

Mysticpuma 03-31-2011 08:36 AM

Agree about AVG sadly. It's almost too scared of anything and regularly gives False Positives.

I use Avast on XP and Windows 7 and it has stopped Viruses on websites, and previous AVG 'scares' are not a problem with it.

I don't work for Avast, but do feel their free version is the most reliable I have used.

Just my two-penneth.

Cheers, MP.

PS. Still haven't got CoD, maybe in Six-Months ;)

You have to laugh at people being paranoid enough to insist AV is running and then using something as poor as AVG.

You can add the rendobj.dll file as an exception.

1) open AVG
2) Click on Tools along the top.
3) Select Advanced Settings
4) Select PUP Exceptions
5) Add rendobj.dll (found in the game folder)
6) click apply then ok
7) Launch CoD

I run AVG, I did the above, no problem....my graphics card is another story though...
