Support flyable He-177 for IL2
Hi all,
this is thread for support He-177 Greif, four engine Luftwaffe bomber as flyable plane for IL2. Its a 3rd party project with support public which is determined for official release via Daidalos Team. Who have interest support this project can look on main page He-177 for IL2: https://sites.google.com/site/he177a3r2greif/ regards, mag |
From the website in your link:
'Phase one: He-177 A-3/R-2 external 3D model complaint with the IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 (side project)' I believe the correct word is ------> compliant com·plaint: statement that you are unhappy or not satisfied with something. com·pli·ant: agreeing with a set of rules, standards, or requirements. If would be nice if some of the easy fixes available for more than half a year here: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.ph...c,38982.0.html
would make it into the 177 "official" release as well, for instance the prop direction fix (IRL the 177 props were rotating in opposite direction, in this video they're still both right-handed), the gear doors fix (IRL they gear doors were closed when the gear was fully extended and locked, in this video they remain open) and the flaps fix (mid wing section flaps are missing completely in this video and inner wing section flaps extend way too less). At the SAS we're always happy to offer a helping hand to improve things and I can only encourage the developers of the "official" 177 to get their hands on our mod to see what can be carried over. Best regards - Mike |
In HSFX was a BETA version of He-177. 3D model, code and FM was in beta phase. In DT release will be full version.

Dear Sirs,
The first unique gifts for donors (and others) were sent to addresses
Use them for your own pleasure  The secret is dedicated for your wives, childrens or friends too. The bottom side is specially designed so that it can use the entire football team without any tool. I would like to see some unboxing video. Limited hand-numbered edition will be available soon on Earth. PS:This secret project has no impact on the He 177 budget |

BUT, the process of making the He-177 fully flyable would also be an excellent opportunity to fix some serious damage model bugs. Notably: Damage endcap for fuselage doesn't show internal structure. Wings are incredibly fragile given size and the fact that the He-177 was designed so that it could make glide bombing attacks. Hooks for engine smoke effect are triggered by breaking outer wing. Vertical stabilizer is much harder to break than horizontal stabilizers. Control surfaces are incredibly easy to damage or break given size. Engines can't be set on fire. Oil coolers & tanks not modeled. Engine nacelles break off off in unrealistic fashion when they take fatal damage. Destroying engine also causes engine nacelle & all wing parts to break. |

Something sexier, like the Me-410, He-219 or Me-262B might get more support. |
There's plenty of support for German planes,
My impression is the opposite. Ok, we have tons of Bf-109 and Fw-190 variants. But we have no flyable Bf-110 other than the G-2, no 210, no 410, no Ju-88C, and dont have any useful mid war bombers at all. Player is forced to fly obsolete He-111H2/6 and Ju-88A4/5 even in 1943. Even though there are more than enough references for all major Do-217 variant cockpits (E2/4, K1, M1), none of them flyable. Even updated versions of He-111 and Ju-88 are missing (He-111H16, and Ju-88A14) |
G'day all
Is it too late to still donate to the 177 project, as I can't seem to find any link to let me do so the site? Having been AWOL on and off ensures it does not take that that long to lose pace with the goings on here, leading to major amounts of backreading through the threads that I've missed while being MIA, and I feel obligated to make a some sort of financial contribution to getting those controls of the Greif into my hands. |
Disregard in part the previous message, I have found the links, so I have to assume that the active links must have been blocked on my work PC.
So is the any part in particular that I consider should donating towards (I know, I know all of them) but really is there a part that is more underfunded currently than the others, or does it all eventually go into a common pool anyway? |

I mean that, due to lack of funds to other cabins He 177 will not be done |
G'day Site
After reading your first post I went and donated some euro, then came back and read your second post and now I'm a little confused, is the project dead or is just now only the cockpit that going ahead, as it would be a shame if my belated contribution (from my limited sim related funds) comes to naught. |
definitely not dead .... i mean ... He177 will be in Game asap ...
don't have funds to pay all sum for that stuff which already done ... collect more funds for all other pit for that big plane looks impossible .. |
for what is done at present moment we are still due some about 70$ ...
for the rest of the Pits company to raise funds even began, due to the fact that it is very few people interested |
Make that US$43 now, sadly due to the shit AU$ exchange rate at the moment, my what could have been a semi-impressive donation of AU$41 only amounts to €25 (US$27), but I hope still it helps.
It is a tad sad that community has not rallied behind the project considering how much free content has been made available over the years. I guess it just comes down to people having other aircraft as their priority, and for a lot them a German bomber that has not the best perceived reputation was not one of them. For me along with the Do-217 the He-177 rounds out the late operational Luftwaffe bomber force quite nicely, except for maybe the lack of a Ju-188, and notwithstanding of course more variants of the the existing Luftwaffe bombers (Ju-88, He-111, Ar-234). It would be interesting to see how the response may have been if the project had been for a B-17, B-29, Lancaster, Sterling, or Halifax? |

most of players now looking in Warthunder or BzS ... |
Yes the beauty of COD, BOS and BOM (and the arcadeness of Warthunder) are steadily thinning the ranks here, but as had been said in the past none of the current WWII Sims is able to match the sheer breadth of content that is Il2 1946, and the high end requirements of the serious titles is still a limiting factor for many.
I remember when Janes WWII fighters was at it zenith with so much fantastic mod work being done, then this plucky little russian sim came along with by comparison low resolution skins, but having much larger aircraft list to choose from and more realistic flight models, along with a continual expansion support from the developer something not seen to that extent by any previous sim, meant that with within one or two years almost all the community had moved over to Il2 Sturmovik. I dare say that if any of the current WWII titles had anything approaching the breadth of content that even the original IL2 Sturmovik had back then, then I'm sure this place would be a complete ghost town, but that there's still life in the old girl has been proven both by TD and the external modding community time and time again. My wish (nee desire) going forward is that one day all the flyables in this sim will have cockpits to at least the minimum Fw-190, Tempest, Do-335, J8A (just to name a few), etc as the rule and not as the exceptions, and then who knows with that maybe we can get another 15 years out of her. |
Any news on He 177?

import is in progress ... in fact "simple" part of import made or almost made .... now need make it alive ... need programming all moving parts etc. |
Thank you for the news Sita, it would really be nice for me to have a plane in my favorite flight sim, that I know will have a tiny piece of my small donation in it somewhere (although I clicked a rear guner position when donating). Will do more, I promise.
