A plea to the players...
Please ease up on the team stacking. It is tough enough for new players to get into this game without the veterans ganging up on them. We "noobs" know we are inferior and inexperienced but just give us a chance without the wingman lighting us up the second we line up on another player. I applaud the teamwork, it really is impressive, but it does very little to encourage newer players. I understand that certain people like to play together and thats great, but after 8 or 9 games of obliterating the other team is it really that fun? It sure isn't on the other side.
The lack of support for this game has pushed many players away, but there will still be new players with the new patch (Thank you!) but I doubt that them getting gang-raped by vets will keep them around long. I think it is clear that the lack of online players is a problem with this game and the team stacking isn't helping. For the record, I still consider myself a "noob" even though I have owned this game for a long time. Once I joined online play I quickly quit because of team stacking, it was very frustrating. I came back for the recent patch only to find the same situation but worse. Sorry for the rant but I wanted to put it out there. |
I agree with you. Personally, when I play a match and there are players that I do not recognize I use less capable planes, to keep things a little even. I have seen players that I know are very good, destroy all others with planes like the Spitfire IX and La7 and La5. It is even worse when the respawn time is set to 5 seconds because as soon as they die they are already at your six, and to the new players it does get very frustrating, its even frustrating for me.
Join my tournament my friend, add me and I will help you practice. Better yet, if you see me online and you are having trouble with any veteran bully just send me an invitation and I will keep him busy for you. BTW, was your post regarding SIM difficulty? I only play sim, so if you need help on sim or need a wingman add me |

If you play on the PS3 do add us. Ill be happy to shoot some bullys :D

Enjoy and fly regularly.........some guys will always prefer to fly together but I find that most BOP fans will select balanced teams if you and the others mention it in the game lobby. Alternatively, host a few sessions for those of you who want a bit more 'practice' on your own. Sometimes I get newbies come on line and want to try their hand at SIM. I prefer to help them out and enjoy the experience rather than just get a hatfull of kills which, quite frankly, would bore me to death! Pretty sure most of the experienced guys feel the same.

In particular, I find this MIRGIRVIN guy relentless... he's clearly a superior pilot, but he never *handicaps* himself so to speak against others to give them a chance - he's always in a Spit or LA series plane, and I'm not sure what he's doing, but he ALWAYS sees you first, he's always on your six, and he's always sending you to the deck with only a few shots. To me, as a clear ACE, he really should be doing more to help make others better around him. |
I'll be back when they add cockpits, and then I'll fly along side you, stick close to my B-17 now they've fixed its damage, and I'll keep you safe. ;)

in ps3 sim mode team battles, we almost always balance out the teams because a crap battle sucks. We put the known quantities on opposite sides, as well as the newer ones. Sometimes, though, a new face turns out to be an ace. Watch out for beanno on ps3, not kidding.
The last few arcade and realistic battles I played were crowded, I think that's where the team stacking is. Switch to sim and you'll find things are better. One problem is with 1 on 1 fights in dogfight mode. If a high-ranked player plays 1 on 1 against a low-ranked player, they have to be ruthless or they will lose rank. I used to go easy and just get 2 or 3 kills in a round, and then find out I lost a level for being mr nice guy. If they would introduce unranked ps3 matches, or better yet, PvP training and co-op training, it would be a lot easier to help out the new pilots. Right now only team battle mode really works for that, but it doesn't give you much chance to work on advanced maneuvering. |

Since my style is usually to wound my opponent then close in for the kill, I lose credit for a lot of kills. So it's not easy to outrank heavy shooters like Mergirvin or Cosmo79. But I was #2 behind Mergirvin for a while, and I didn't mind seeing that on the dogfight board. Most of us would be lying if we said we didn't care about our level. Not all, but most... the board for CTA is also pretty accurate since your points are based on successful landings and captures. It's right to rank wpedra0 #1. Since you're gonna be in the team tournament, make sure to practice CTA. Most people don't. It will matter. |
Cool, I'll do that. I tend to agree with Edal's general sentiment, in that the leaderboards don't really matter much. As a nice reference maybe to the top players, but that should pretty much be the extent of it.
The sooner we can get away from an obsession to be 'the' top player, the sooner we can focus on building a great online community, where winning and losing matters of course, but that equal emphasis can be placed on comraderie, fair play, and mutual respect for all of our fellow pilots. |

any1 feel free to add me too. I'm def not as good as any1 mentioned above, but I get the feeling that flyin with/against equally skilled pilots is also great practice - as much as flying against more experienced pilots imo. And I usually dont go too hard on a guy if I see he's a rookie (sorry if i've been in the past, dont remember doing this, mayb when drunk, lol) And any1 of u more experienced pilots that want to give me pratice sessions with cockpit view - please send me invite... got totally owned yesterday in these TB... couldnt see sh*t  Quote:

I understand. I've been playing over 2 months now and mostly run up against the same guys. In arcade mostly, which I assume is where you play. There is definately teaming going on out there. I have made a few friends but mostly let the roll of the dice make up the teams. I get frustrated when I get my ass handed to me over and over by some "teams". I will fly away if it gets too bad and not give them the satisfaction of downing me again. I don't want a rep of a quitter so I'll rarely quit outright. Just don't quit and give up. You will get better (there is no other choice) and your days will come! Very very satisfying to shoot these fools down!!! Especially when I can here them talking and they get pissed when I get 'em!! Make sure you learn the games rules well. You won't win if you don't understand how it works. Host your own games and play CAT and Strike. Giving the "teams" something else to do other than hunting you frees you up to practice flying and shooting.
My Thrustmaster has been shipped and I will be joining the sim community soon!!!! Get my ass handed to me all over again!!! |
team stacking it happens. there is a team tournament in arcade and some teams are getting in some practice, can't say i blame them. Plus alot of us arcade players (myself included) come on the game to play with our friends and talk to them something you can't do very well in your on their opposite side for twenty minutes.
I'm sorry if this is harsh to new players, just do what most new players do go shoot down some bombers in strike. My last 6 fights in tb have all been against those i would consider aces or at the very least veteran, because the noobs have been get their chops smoking bombers in strike |

Mirgervin, Macademic and I were having a good laugh playing as a squad of P-51's. We were happy to get ONE kill in that match. ;) |

I misspelled the name above, the PSN id is Beeano, case-sensitive. |
I'm already disappointed with the 51. The tip stalls are still a big liability, even in arcade! It will stall in arcade and just hang there or do a couple flip flops. Totally out of control. I tried boom n zooming but its not fast enough to outrun a spit or 109. It still just won't turn tight enough, and if you try to force it-stall. You can't stay on anybodys tail long enough. I really don't understand what the hell the devs were thinking on a few things in this patch. Don't they fly there own products before dumping them out there? There is no American plane worth a damn in a dogfight. A 17 will get you more kills than a Mustang or Thunderbolt will. Spits, 109's and Hurri's are still the order of the day in Arcade.
|
The p51 was a fast plane because of a good airfoil and low drag, not because of acceleration. Its thrust-to-weight ratio was about 0.18 hp/lb, lower than the spitfires. If the spits are out-accelerating you, that's why. Spits don't have a high top speed, at least not in sim.
The p47 has even higher wing loading than p51 so it's a bad alternative as a dogfighter. There were better American dogfighters than those two. Some of the best Russian aces preferred the p-39 airacobra to their own yak's and la's, the p-39's were lend-leased to the USSR. In Europe most of the air-to-air fighting was centered around bombing which was a moving battle, which p51 excels at, not the anchored dogfights BOP is mostly about |
did anyone here see me in arcade? i play arcade most of the time...
you guys can add me & my only local friend his PSN id: fukairei both of us often play together... cheers! |

I wish I would've known you were flying real cockpit, that would have been fun to do if everybody was flying that view. |
