Overpriced DLC?

The dlc just came onto the U.S. ps store, and it is $9.99. I'm pretty sure it was only $5 on the xbox 360. Too expensive for me IMO.

I would agree. That is too expensive for what you get. And yeah, it was right around $5 bucks on XBL.

Sherbanator 10-08-2009 11:20 PM

Yes it was 400M$ points on XBox... they even officially said they wanted it on at $5 on the other forum.

Someone can't do there maths!!!

I for one will not be buying this DLC priced at £7.99 for only 6 missions and 1 plane. PS3 users can unlock the Ta-152, so that just leaves the P47

Pup 10-08-2009 11:21 PM

Well, UK store finally got updated about 20 mins ago.. and it's £8 which is about $12.80. No way I am gonna buy 6 missions for that price, we are led to believe that the devs wanted it at less than 5 Euro, so I guess it's Sony making up these prices.

Seriously, read the damn post before you start 'quoting' it. One of the devs said they suggested a price of €5,00. It's not the devs that determine the prices, it's the publishers. And I believe I've seen another post with the same topic. Someone can't do their search!!!

I made an earlier topic saying it was listed on the PS Blog priced at 7.99 and hope it was a mistake. How can it be one price on Xbox and not the same on the PS3?

And i had no need to do a search as i did not create this thread... someone needs to use there head!

EDIT: And WHOEVER priced it at £7.99. How can they justify charging that much, when PSN games cost around that much. Command and Conquer, Commanders Challange PSN packs cost around £7.99. That had over 50 new missions and new maps and new units.

At the end of the day, i don't have to buy it, which is fine. It's just a shame, thats all

Ask yourself what the difference is between PS3 and XBOX? Sony. Guess that's where the problem is. And since the DLC goes through thorough scrutiny, my guess it's no mistake. It could be, but I advise not to get your hopes up.

And my apologies for not adding a line between my comment aimed at you and the comment obviously aimed at the original poster. I thought the comment itself would make it clear enough to whom it was referring.

Sherbanator 10-08-2009 11:42 PM

I know Sony is the difference.

But there has never been a difference before. All Call of Duty map packs have been £.799 in the past and XBox has always been charged 800M$ points.

I take it you have an XBox... oh well, we win some and lose some!!!

lol wow, this is really getting hard for me to enjoy this console version of IL2, like I did on PC. .. im still waiting on the patch... have not even dove into too multi-player yet.. patiently waiting.. not buying.. waiting... and WHILE im waiting, Fallout 3 will get my $9.99..

play2often 10-09-2009 01:26 AM

confirmed it is $9.99 on psn. it is a bit much, but the single missions are top notch, especially the final mission which is EPIC!! and the p-47 is good, despite the fact that it flies like an fw-190, it has a strong armament ( tho i don't know how to unlock bombs and rockets ( yet ))
p.s. did anyone else get a message that says "send this message to 20 friends and you'll get $20 in psn store. sony is testing message system" ? (the friend who sent it to me didn't know if it was legit either)

mattd27 10-09-2009 01:29 AM

^^ the Messages are NOT legit.

And I'm still shocked that PS3 has it $5 more than 360. I've really never seen that before. And it is definitely not worth $10.

I vote hoax! Why would Sony spend thousands of dollars on paying people just to test a system, which can probably be done with a simulation .
(No PSN member here, just busting a hoax)

play2often 10-09-2009 01:37 AM

it would be a pretty clever prank, although there's really nothing to gain from it.

also, most of the DLC i've gotten on psn was $10, although they had a tad more content. this DLC would've been worth more if it came with new trophies.

beaker126 10-09-2009 01:56 AM

I don't get what everyone's bitchin' about. It's not near the ripoff that the first DLC for HAWX was.

irrelevant 10-09-2009 03:51 AM

I paid the $9.99 for the DLC. Why? Simple. I want to support BoP as much as possible and, frankly, adding a new plane and missions makes me dance in my underpants.

Another $9.99 for an accurate P-51 cockpit? I'd buy it. Granted, it should be included in the title update; but I would still do everything in my power to support this great effort. I love this game.

Riceball 10-09-2009 03:53 AM

I suppose that is the price for PSN being free.

That, too. LOL! ;)

mattmanB182 10-09-2009 04:05 AM

XBOX LIVE is free also, just not a GOLD membership. :-P

xX-SiLeNcE-Xx 10-09-2009 04:06 AM

I seem to be having a problem with the DLC. I D'loaded it, but can't find the Ta-152... I have the P-47 though.

mattmanB182 10-09-2009 04:23 AM

Thats strange..I got both rite away. Maybe you have to win a match for the TA?

The TA really is garbage anyway.

The PS3 only offers the P-47 as a download, mainly because the Ta-152 will be easily accessible after the title update.

cydno 10-09-2009 08:32 AM

I guess there are no german cockpits in this DLC?

If not! 10€ is way too much for 6 missions and one plane.

I am still waiting for the patch to come and it is definitely much more important than the DLC.
Right now, the game is keeping me away from multiplayer because of the reported problems (kill count).

I love the game but I finished the solo missions way to fast, and the multiplayer does not improve the game lifetime. Bizarre I am not playing BOP anymore...

tbtstt 10-09-2009 08:33 AM

I have to say I'm more than a little disappointed. I already feel like I've paid for a game that I'm not getting everything out of (becuase in order to fly the planes I want I have to go online to unlock them - which I don't have the time to do); now I'm being asked for £7.99 for a handful of extra content.

I appreciate that its a marketing decision and not a developers one, but I'd much rather have seen a patch correcting some of the errors seen by the community (and unlocking all the planes for all us offline players :)) before they start asking for more money for more extras.

Completely agreed!

Same, except I paid $12.75 (GBP converted to USD). And I already have the TA152:-x

Don't you need gold to play on live?
I don't know I am a PS3 user.

imnotgeoff 10-09-2009 07:28 PM

you need gold to actually play on live yeh,but you also get special offers like money off dlc and some content earlier than if you were on a silver subscription

Raw Kryptonite 10-09-2009 07:53 PM

You can't do much with a silver account. You can't even access Netflix without a gold account. They got me for 2 like that. LOL

polyphemus_65 10-12-2009 06:06 PM

Ta-152

Ugh...I paid $9.99 ($10.80 with tax) for the DLC on PSN and fully expected to get BOTH planes as indicated in the DLC description (you also get two new planes, the P-47D and TA-152...)

I downloaded/installed the DLC and instantly checked my hangars for the new birds. Only the P-47D is available on PSN after the download. I did verify that the TA-152s show up as enemies in the "P-47D in Europe" single missions, but I didn't pay $10+ for an "unlockable" plane, I paid for it to be unlocked and available.

So far, I've enjoyed this game, but little "white lies" like the PSN DLC description leave me less than impressed. Also, I've only tried playing online a few times because the session is inevitably ended by the host or some other such annoyance. I'm hoping the patch/update addresses many of these issues and, I guess, I'll need to win 100 matches in the FW series if I ever want to fly the TA-152 that cost me $5.40!

Well, after the title update you'll only need one kill online in a FW series plane to unlock the TA. Just hang tight and you'll get it. ;)

True, but I still have no idea when the update will be available. In addition, my online woes continue. I don't know why, but whenever I join a game, the server crashes, the host leaves, or something else prevents me from finishing a session. When I tried on Saturday, I joined a Team Battle session, chose my plane, began flying, located a target, and, voila, host ended game. I flew for about 15 seconds. That is really annoying. I considered creating my own online match, but, after the DLC disappointment coupled with 15 seconds of online play, I just logged off and gave up...

You should have created your own game or looked for another. If the host ended the previous game, all the players from it would have been on the market for a new game. Once you have synchronised with a group of players, keep looking for or making games, and you can play online pretty much non-stop. It's just the initial delay of getting in synch that puts a lot of people off. This game rewards the patient ;)

Yossarian 10-13-2009 10:57 AM

Those of you that got it for 400MSP off Xbox count yourself lucky, I looked at it yesterday and the DLC was 800MSP. The price must have gone up.

King Jareth 10-13-2009 01:02 PM

Hmmm gutted, I was going to pay 400MSP next time I played but I aint paying 800 for it.

Wireflyer 10-13-2009 04:28 PM

The price for the DLC is 9.90€ in Germany. It`s not cheap for a DLC but still O.K. from my point of view. So it is 2 packs of cigarettes or three beers....:)
So if I don´t smoke and drink I already got the DLC.

Cheers

Wireflyer
