thank you for the patch, however,
Il2 CLOD in Windows 8 is still broken, Steam starts games, Steam User goes "Green" aka playing then Blue aka online and CLOD never starts... No other game or software has an issue only CLOD, even 1946 works as it should with no modification... Please, don't give me any windows 8 is not supported, cause I think a lot of people would agree that delaying a game with patches this far kinda necessitates next gen OS support no?

+ No windows 8 Support?
= IL2 series is in decline

Hahahaha....I was in a bad mood today.... You gave me a reason to laugh...

Please don't delete or edit this post, let people express less-than-good opinions, too.

Yes the game got much better with each patch, and yes you can tell that there is a great deal of work behind it.
However, I think that publishing a paid expansion now wouldn't be a good idea.

Even with my medium-high end PC (i7/970, 12GB RAM, GTX680) the frame rates often drops close to unplayable, especially on take off.
Antialiasing hasn't been taken care of, yet. That means, planes are very hard to tell apart until you're very close to them.
Also, I still have a problem with the Hurricane, where low-res textures are superimposed to the hi-res ones (as shown in the patch thread and in a bug report)

I could keep going but I think I made my point: right now CloD is a great game but it still needs some fixing before an expansion can be published.
Personally, I wouldn't buy an expansion right now, unless early customers get a special deal. On the other hand I would buy the sequel if some time after the release, positive reports start popping up and everyone is happy with it... but for some reason, I don't think that's going to happen.

Now don't get me wrong, I still believe that CloD is going to be the greatest flight sim game ever. All im saying is that I won't invest more money in it, until im sure that im not going to get ripped off again.

Everyone can get ripped off once, but getting ripped of twice, by the same guy, and in the same way... well, that's not going to happen.
So, make the game match the promises and I'll be happy to keep buying expansions.

(also mirrored here)

+1

The game is now the state I expected it to be in at release, so I've paid almost two years in advance. I enjoyed yesterday's blast and have really high hopes for the future.

I'll buy the sequel in the hope that I can then properly fly the BoB. Until then I'll enjoy what we've got.

nice one luthier, thanks to you and the team

what was the phrase, releasing a 2013 game in 2011?

Some bugs:

I have a frequent situation where al the effects like smoke, tracers... dissapear for a few frames, sometimes almost a second, and then appear again.

Also sometimes flying low near the edge of a cloud shadow you can see clearly really big pixels (about 200 m ) not blurred fom the cloud shadow texture.

As a special request, if not for CoD, at least for BoM, please, kill all the hard sun shadows when you are in a cloud shadow. You had this effect extemely nailed in the original game and was beautiful. I don´t know why you changed it in the las beta patch. In reality there is not hard shadows when you are already in a shadow area.
Overall, keep the good work.

Salute

On the ATAG server last night, during their Dunkirk setup, as the last ships were bombed, some of the destroyed ones appeared, hanging in the air over the beachhead, obviously this is a bug.

Hi

Thanks for the patch, however why can't we have true air speed correct per history ? It now looks both sides are under the true figures.
Talking about 350 TAS at 18'000 ft for spitfire for reached by K5054, it's actually far from such performance, and at SL, I expect more than 290 TAS, it's again far from that in the game.
I know Spitfire reached more than 25'000 ft, that's again not the one we have in the game.

Why Can't we really have tough aircrafts, like real ones ?

On line yesterday:

Yoiks!

29,260 ft, 95 mph IAS, still climbing at 15 fpm, 3000 rpms, boost -4 (?) lbs, oil 95 C, glycol 113 (?) C

Should clear Mt Everest with ease!

So it looks like game is over now :(

I agree Kwiatek and I was hoping they would at least fix the broken Merlins so we could at least pretend we had flyable RAF aircraft. But, the reality is the project has no more funding, Luthier did spell this out and I suspect some of the BoM project funding was used to finally patch up CoD. It is a shame though that they don't just use a little more to fix that simple engine problem.

Still, we can stand up to the 109s now even of the performance is not correct. I suppose as someone else said, the relative perfomance is closer now and at least we can get some fun out of it.

Thanks Luthier and Team. The community appreciate your efforts. If we have been hard and anxious sometimes is because your sim is the best ever. We will buy the sequel. I like a game company which demostrates the willing and proud for improving its game on spite all the initial problems. Some others would have quit in the middle of the road.My respect.Good job.
