I don't ride a motorcycle, but I've always had a fond spot in my heart for AJS. Those are my initials and my father always used to joke that I was named after that company.

Haha! You weren't the scriptwriter on Quadrophenia by any chance?;-)

'you killed me * scooter, you * killed it!' etc!

But Lesley Ash wasn't half nice back then!

Well spotted Dutch! Right on the money. And Leslie Ash was pretty damn nice, agreed!;)
With all the pictures of these bikes around it reminds me of the time I was pulled up at a set of lights on my Vespa, all suited and booted, parka, etc. I was suddenly surrounded by about 20 or 30 bikers on Harley Davidsons in club colours. The biker next to me looked over, and I got ready to go full throttle, but all he said was "nice bike", to which I replied " Thanks, yours too ". Lights went green and I took off and I was actually ahead of the pack for about 2 seconds till they raced past. Ahh, memories ...:-D

Yeah, great memories. I was a bit of a hybrid, in that I dressed like a mod in the late 70's/early 80's, but rode motorbikes and listened to mostly heavy rock and blues music. I used to get some funny looks from the denim/leather clad longhairs when I was headbanging to Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Freebird' in my two-tone box jacket and skinny tie. Then when they saw me on my Z650 and in leather from head to toe they got even more confused. Great fun.

Quadrophenia is a classic Who? album though, film is ok, but the album is just superb.;-)

Sorry Elaurens I didn't intend to make light of that. I have a great Uncle that is buried in Belgium, he was killed in action at the age of 18 in the great war. To my knowledge no family members have ever visted is grave or laid flowers on it, his mother was too poor to be able to afford to make the trip as her husband died just after the war from the flu epidmic. It is my intention to visit his grave one day and pay my respects. S!
