I like updates but they have been so unsubstantial lately that I -at least- don't take them seriously nor do I care. I'm just logging in each day to see if the "retail patch released" thread has been created yet.

I hope the retail patch as some major fixes in it and it's not just a correlation of what as been done previously, I know we have had a few beta patches but most have not really been a step forward, they have just fixed what the previous patches broke. Let's hope that the final patch fixes a lot issues, non least than the netcode.

Tree i love your optimism :)

Unfortunately the net code will only be fixed in the addon, b6 has already told us :(

Gents I wouldnt get your hopes up too high with some of these expectations.

Its likely that no new features will be added to COD and anything we get to improve our experience, other than FM tweaks and bugs being ironed out, will have to wait until the sequel. Hopefully, however the sequel merges or uses the BOB assets from COD, we will get most of what we want in the new game if we are lucky.

There seems to be an urgency now to finish the next retail patch and move full steam ahead on the sequel to release it and make some more funding for the franchise so development can continue.

Who knows what we might get if the publisher and parent 1C decide to push out another unfinished product. Its possible that could happen... but hopefully with the graphics bugs now pretty much ironed out they can focus all the energy on making the sequel everything we expected from COD and hopefully even more! It certainly sounds like its going to be a bit of a departure from what we are used to seeing with the franchise or they would have said it will be the same already.

Yeah, sadly I think you are right, If they would only release the SDK, the sim would most likely come to life.

Hopefully the sequel will address these issues. There's no chance for SDK at this stage for COD on its own but hopefully an SDK will be developed that can atleast be backwards compatible with COD for those that dont want to buy the sequel.

The sequel needs to launch and be successful first in any case, or all bets are off!

I don't know if you guys were around when the IL2 Forgotten Battles was released.

Prior to the release of that first sequel to IL2 we had a myriad of issues. I wouldn't remember them, but I do recall there was a great deal of negative sentiment on Ubisoft forums. LOL

Regardless, the sequel turned the tide. We never looked back at the original IL2 1.0 version.

One thing that the devs did, which really cinched it well. They released all the content from the original version of IL2 1.o version within the Forgotten Battles.

The purchasers of Forgotten Battles did not have to go back and buy the IL2 Sturmovik 1.0 version. I know this well, because like many at the time there were some of us who financially felt we needed to support the IL2. Many of us bought extra copies of IL2 at retail prices to support it. I still have those boxes of IL2. LOL

Then the sequel released and those old IL2 1.0 versions were selling for the price of peanuts/worthless.

Anyway, the sequel is a way for the "CURRENT" dev of our favorite sim game to make some money and give us what we want at the same time.

It may not be a best way to do things, but it is probably the expedient way for COD to continue in business and provide us what we want as well.

So... no it shouldn't be that way, and we can all make our choices. I choose COD. The way my wife spends money this is something I get to do for me. I'll be ahead.

Precisely there is NOTHING like il2 on the market so until someone comes along and makes something better MG will be getting my money.

P.s. I brought a collectors edition of cod and also brought my brother a copy on steam :)
